If you are getting ready to sell your house or buy a new home, the Joanne Curtin Team Real Estate with the Keller Williams Reality Company is a real estate company to avoid at all costs. We just recently bought a new home they had listed, and there were so many errors on the disclosure and listing as well as dishonesty in what we were assured to receive when we closed on our new home to what we really got. The Joanne Curtin Team Real Estate made the following errors on their listing and the disclosure of our new home:
*In the disclosure, it was marked we would be getting the invisible fence, but there was no invisible fence left for us, and we were not able to discover this until after moving in and having the invisible fence company come out and assess things.
*In the disclosure, it shows there was a termite bond on the house, and we would just have to pay an annual fee of $300. After moving in and repeatedly asking who they used for their termite bond, and finally, getting them to come out to the house, we discovered the termite bond was out of date, and we would have to pay a large fee to have it re-established.
*In the disclosure, it listed what the seller would take and not take from the home, and he took window fixtures that he should have left as well as pulled out lighting and left us with the wires in some of our bookcases.
*During our final walk-through, only our realtor showed up and the seller's realtor did not show up, nor were they at the closing. However, when we requested to have a home inspection or see the house to let our contractors know what needed to be done prior to closing, they were there every time and made it difficult for us to get in the couple visits we requested to see the house.
*During our final walk-through, we observed that the house was filthy. In fact, it was hard to catch everything because of how dirty the house was...dog food on the bedroom floors, soot all over the cabinets in the living room and the carpet going to the basement.
*In the disclosure, it says the house had Sonos speakers throughout and were being left. We had an audio/speaker company come to the house to check the speakers and help us with the setup. The company discovered there were no Sonos speakers, and a portion of the speakers left in the house were blown and not working.
The way the Curtin Team Real Estate Company and the Keller Williams Real Estate Company have handled everything has been very unprofessional. It took us sending several detailed emails to this real estate company for someone to email us back (a week after the original email was sent). Their response was so short and rude. Not only was their response curt, but also their solution was to only cover half the costs of the termite bond and only a $1,000 of the thousands of dollars of the electronics that were stripped from the home before closing. They refused to cover the cost of the invisible fence when it was clearly marked in the disclosure as being left and on the front page of the flyer. They also refused to sit down with my husband face to face and talk about things and the full cost of the speakers in the house. In fact, it wasn't until this past week that the person in charge finally called my husband on the phone to discuss things. During their phone conversation, my husband asked what the purpose of a disclosure is if someone can't be held accountable for things listed on it, and the manager of the company's response was she doesn't even know why we have "disclosures" because they are useless. In addition to their lack of effort in making things right in all their wrong doings and misleading information, they also didn't have anyone from their office show up for the final walk-through or at the closing. As you can see, this company does not care about being honest and doing what is right, but rather they just care about the money.
If you want an honest company that will do what is right for both the buying and selling side, stay far away from the Keller Williams Company and the Curtin Team Real Estate! read more
