First, let me say that I've held all of my mortgages with B of A in the past. Though, it is convenient to have all my loans in one place, I was so fed up with the lack of service I received that I decided to look elsewhere. Boy, was I happy I did. This is a superb customer service! Here is my experience story: When I called First Wholesale Lending in October 2017, Michael made me feel welcomed. After I explained my situation, he told me with confidence that he is there to help with my refinancing needs. It took me a few more weeks to get my act together, prepare paperwork, shop around, learn the terminology, and by that time, my existing loan was expiring with a balloon payment due in February 2018. I requested a one-time, 90-day extension from my lender by paying a hefty fee, which they accepted hesitantly. It took me another month of procrastination to restart the conversation with Michael. At that time, I put him on a tight schedule to apply for a new loan, get the best interest rate and close in 60 days, before the lender demands the payoff. Michael emailed me a few documents and worksheets to fill & sign. Since I am very detail-oriented and technical, I had so many questions. Email communication didn't feel very effective for me. He suggested we speak for 15 minutes to get all questions answered. I printed the documents & emails, and met him at his office. So my review is for my experience a few years ago so maybe the people have changed. I contacted Garrett based on the positive reviews and in initial meeting and first month went fine. Then the follow up emails and return phone calls dwindled and pretty soon I felt like I was calling all the time to get a follow up on my refi status. It took 4-5 months before they finally told me that it wouldn't go through and another credit inquiry without my consent. When I finally talked to Joseph, he was rude and not helpful in explaining why it took them so long to inform me and why I never received any responses to my messages and emails. I have since refied with a great rate, did it less than a month, and extremely responsive. read more
