This is an excellent breakfast spot. We tried to visit over Labor Day but they were far too busy (and we were far too hungry to wait), so we tried again a week later. Upon our visit we were immediately sat and our server approached promptly. I ordered their traditional breakfast. Opted for the scrambled eggs, potatoes, toast, and pork sausage links. I was really happy to see how many breakfast meats they had to offer, but decided to stick with the tried and true. The eggs were fluffy and delicious. The potatoes were the star of the plate. Perfectly cooked and surprised with fried onions which made the flavor explode! Their homemade jam was, well, the jam. Seriously wanted to buy a jar to take home. The sausage, however, was a little meh. I don't know really how to describe it but the casing was normal but the inside had a pureed texture which was a little off-putting. My husband ate there and said the ambiance was really nice and he enjoyed his omelette. He ordered the Triathlete Omelette for me to go. It's supposed to come with fresh fruit, pico de Gallo, and fresh homemade preserves. Opened it up and it came with a pretty gross black slimy side "salad." Why?! I don't know. "Spring" slimy old greens out of a bag!! But it DIDN'T come with the pico de gallo. It DIDN'T come with all natural house preserves (but they did give me some Smucker's strawberry jelly - yay) and it DIDN'T come with ANY FRESH FRUIT!! DREADFUL SERVICE The restaurant had open tables. There was no line to enter-in fact no one was waiting. It took 27 minutes for our order to be taken once seated. It took 34 minutes for our food to arrive. The meal was very good but that does not balance the rest. To behold "we are short staffed" really? We had breakfast here at 11am on a weekday so there wasn't a wait. I like the fact that it's larger than most breakfast/brunch restaurants. We ordered the Trifecta (2 eggs over medium, Belgian waffle, and bacon) and the works omelet with a side of seasoned potatoes, and artisanal toast. We also ordered a side of bacon. I noticed halfway through the meal that it wasn't the million dollar bacon which is what I thought we would have been brought. So be sure to specific what kind of bacon you're ordering. Overall, it was a good meal. I liked the Belgian waffle the most. It had a nice, light crisp to it and is served with a warm mixed berry compote. The potatoes are good and seasoned well also. The works omelet is ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses and a dollop of sour cream on top. The sour cream seems out of place. I get that the other items say Tex-Mex but the sour cream is not needed. It's difficult for me to give over three stars for breakfast unless the dishes are unique and/or the service blows me away. My experience was amazing my waiter was Luca who was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and the history of the restaurant. He suggested me to try things as are being the restaurant serves everything fresh never frozen and they DO NOT use things over from the day before. So, I checked out First Watch for brunch after reading amazing reviews on Yelp. Although I had a solid experience, I did feel underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Though the setting is considerably better, Commonwealth Café is the far better alternative. My advice to management would be to keep the daily specials menu, but significantly scale down on the regular breakfast/brunch/lunch selections. Perhaps 12 to 20 entrées would allow for better quality. read more

My husband took me out for lunch at work a while back and I picked this place since it had been on my list for a while, and who doesn't love breakfast at lunch?! We both had juices to start. I had the Kale Tonic and my husband the Morning Meditation. Both were very good! I had the Florentine Benedict and my husband had the breakfast tacos- also super yummy. My mom and I unknowingly ventured into this little hotspot one afternoon after a doctor's appointment. We didn't really think much of it. Let me tell you, it was totally worth it. With all the hype of this place, I definitely felt like i needed to give this place a try. The menu had many options and the entire place was very clean and modern. I liked how there were coffee samples for those waiting. We ordered both of the juices with our meals and it was very fresh, but kind of smaller in portion sizes. I think this would be a great place for those who want to try a healthier breakfast and I do really appreciate the nutrition facts with their food. My wife and I decided to give First Watch a shot based on the looks of the menu. All of their foods looked amazing. We had time to peruse the menu before we were seated, so once our time came to rest cozily at our table, we promptly ordered our food. The drinks we ordered (coffee and water) came almost immediately. The service was great throughout our stay First Watch. I refer to it as 'our stay' because we waited an incredibly long time for our food to come to our table. Apparently the culinary artists in the kitchen ran in to quite a few snags this fateful day. The most impressive part about this situation was that our waitress addressed the issue before we could say anything. She recognized that we were waiting quite a while and stated that our meal would be free. She apologized profusely for the wait. I really enjoyed my food. The tacos arrived at our table in a little metal stand accompanied by a small bowl of warm black beans. I did the weird thing by putting my beans on my tacos. Trust me, it was delicious. The tacos were absolutely filled with scrambied egg goodness. The chicken was nice and tender and the chorizo added a little kick to the overall wonderful flavor of the meal. The avocado cooled everything down and gave the tacos a nice creamy texture. I love tacos. These were absolutely awesome. I'd highly recommend them. The carafe of coffee was also a nice touch. I didn't have to bother my server for constant refills. I really wanted to give a 5-star rating based on the culinary experience alone. Despite the fact that we made our reservation an hour ahead of time, we still had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our table after we arrived. Annoying. Expect the wait to be 45 minutes, but you can skip this wait if you don't mind dining next to strangers. They call this the "community table"-- it seats a max of ten people and is a first come first serve seating. Don't mind if I do (beats the wait on an empty stomach in my opinion)! I had the Chickichanga which I will swear by. The presentation is amazing and the flavors, even better. The pancakes are fluffy and are served with a blueberry sauce.
