Nothing blew us away about the restaurant. Didn't make a reservation on Sunday morning so it was busy. Quoted 25 minutes but waited 30. So not bad. Food was decent but nothing to drive us to come back anytime soon. Would recommend to come at least once.

This a nice new eatery for Topeka. Prices are steep though. I took my 9 and 13 year old and breakfast for us 3 was nearly $60. The service was good, the atmosphere trendy and stylish, but I just can't stomach those prices on even a semi regular basis. I hope they make it here as it's nice to have varied breakfast options and the menu seems to have healthier options than most places. Everything tasted great, but was quite pricey for the fare.

It's busy! It's freshly prepared. Know that and plan accordingly. Our party of five checked in online and had an hour wait time. When we showed up, we waited less than 5 min. We ordered an omelette, biscuits and gravy, ham and gueyere sandwich, honey pecan chicken salad and a Belgium waffle. Everything was delicious! My kids are sooo picky. It gets frustrating going out with them sometimes bc they don't like anything but they all cleaned their plates and loved their food. My salad was amazing.

How is this supposed to be sanitary?

It's new so the building is nice. I sat at the bar. 2 couples were paying. The one other person was eating more than I eat in 4 days. It had taken close to 15 minutes to acknowledge I was even there. I asked for a Viirgin Bloody Mary. Same price with booze. The food was tasty, but not temperature hot. There was a lot of trash on the floor. I might go back on occasion. Not impressed

The food was good as always, and we enjoyed both our meals. We did have to wait a little while to get seated, but it was busy. We got seated outside which was pretty comfortable. Once we got seated we were not given water for a good 15 minutes, and we kind of felt like we got forgotten. Plus I ordered two over easy eggs and got one done correctly and one scrambled egg underneath it. Overall mixed feelings on this visit but they did give us coffee while we waited which is a nice change since the last time we were there!

Excellent breakfast/lunch menu. Staff is wonderful. Busy but worth the short wait! Love the atmosphere too!

The chicken however was like rubber. I ate half a small piece and put the rest to the side. My husband had the Pulled Pork platter which is normally good. The meat was really dry. I ate all the pasta and told our server about the chicken being like rubber and she stated that she's mentioned that exact thing to the cooks but that maybe if a customer complains they would possibly listen. What made me a little annoyed though was that I ate none of the chicken yet they didn't at least bump off a few bucks off my meal. The service was fine but I feel like over the years this has become my last choice versus my first choice.

My husband asked about a chicken friend steak, so I Yelp'd and low-and-behold, Cook's is really close to where we were. I was raised in a small midwestern town, and this, folks, is a quintessential midwestern diner! I didn't snap a pic of the menu, but ordering is done at the register and all the prices are very reasonable. I ordered a coffee & western omelette, which came with a side of hash-browns and biscuit. The coffee, very standard diner percolator brewed stuff, was fresh and the perfect consistency. The food was served quickly by a cheerful waitress who came by a few times to continue to check on us. My husband was very pleased with his chicken fried steak, hash-browns, eggs and toast. My breakfast was well-portioned; not a huge plate but definitely ample, fresh and tasty! The best part of the experience for me what the cleanliness of the dining room. Not fancy- utilitarian carpet, linoleum table tops- but so clean, fresh and well-tended. It seemed busy for a Thursday morning; more than half the dining room was occupied, and the low storefront of the building is easy to miss, but I was confident these customers were regulars. We don't live in Topeka, but this is now my fav restaurant there, so I plan to return!

The plentiful portion of french fries were nicely seasoned with both salt and pepper. The grilled chicken sandwich included, lettuce, a slice of tomato, pickles, and mayo. The grilled chicken was on a large bun, but the grilled chicken filled only 1/2 of the bun. We used to purchase this sandwich with the avocado which was a large piece of grilled chicken, but I guess times have changed. I cut my sandwich in half because it was so large to pick it up to eat. The first bite of my sandwich had no chicken. The chicken had slid off the bun. I found it on my plate. Replaced it onto my 1/2 bun and could see that the grilled chicken filled only 1/2 of that 1/2 bun. It was a tasty piece of grilled chicken about 1/4" thick with a very nice flavor. The second half of my sandwich had a similar size piece of chicken, just like the first, on only 1/2 of the bun. There was nice slice of tomato on the other half of the bun. Nice to have the tomato, but it would have been nice to have a large piece of chicken. Or maybe use a smaller sandwich bun, to compensate for the smaller piece of chicken. I know that the bad economy is impacting restaurants very hard ~ fewer people can afford to dine out and costs for restaurants have increased. I will continue to support Chili's unless the chicken get s any more smaller.

For example, their little wish wall where people could write down their wishes for themselves or for people. They have a little reading corner with comfy chairs and cute decor. There's a shelf next to the cashier that has books and games to keep you entertained while you're visiting or enjoying your pastry and coffee. The location itself is big and has a lot of space for their guests to enjoy their offerings or quiet time. It looks like they have a projector to offer up movie nights. I also noticed on the wall a coffee drink contest between their guest such as brackets like during March madness. I thought that was very unique and shows that the establishment itself things outside of the box on ways to entice their guests to return. The menu itself is nothing extravagant. It's very basic so don't go in there. Expecting to have crazy coffee, drinks or crazy food offerings. The simplicity actually works for them.
