Service was good but the restaurant was packed so it took a bit for the food to come out. Unfortunately, the ham in my husband's Tri-fecta was overcooked and rubbery. However, once we were able to flag down our wait staff, a replacement ham was brought out. Everything was delicious except for the coffees it tasted slight bitter. Great food and drinks. I also ordered a kale tonic also which was my absolute favorite 10/10. The tangerine dream was a little tart with ginger until you mixed in the sweet cream, then creamsicle flavor. My Parma skillet hash was a great choice for me with sausage, mushrooms and tomato! Different location for book club meeting but same fantastic service and yummy food. Spiked lavender lemonade was lacking a bit of the "punch" for my taste. But the million dollar bacon and potatoes were delicious! Eggs Benedict was cooked well and the fruit was fresh. Disclaimer: I have dined numerous times at First Watch locations ane had mixed experiences. I grade on today. I am a solo diner, these days, so getting onto the list and into the restaurant wasn't too hard. The location is very clean and efficiently run. My server, Duncan was excellent and attentive without being overbearing. He did a great job. I had the Trifecta with scrambled eggs, bacon, and a waffle. Do yourself a favor and get the quinoa power bowl- delicious with mushrooms, kale and sun dried tomatoes that give it the acid to round out the dish. I'm not a big sausage fan so I get it with bacon instead. It comes with 2 basted eggs which means that they steam the top so it becomes a better over medium- no runny whites and perfectly runny yolks. This was my first time eating at a first watch in San Antonio in quite some time, I've been looking forward to seeing more locations here. The online check in system works pretty well - they estimated a 45 minute wait and my fiancé and I only waited about 10 minutes to be sat. Our server was nice, she got us drinks right away. Unfortunately we had to wait about 25 minutes to get our food due to a mishap in the kitchen. Not the server's fault, but our table was ignored for that time period. It also bothered me that the table next to me had a family who let their toddler roam around the area barefoot. I found it unsanitary and moved away from my side of the table. The food itself was good - I usually order the power wrap and swap out the fruit for the seasoned potatoes. I'm also a big fan of the kale veggie juice - it always comes out great! I'd consider coming back at a slower time (Sunday brunch will always be like this it seems), but it would be nice if the servers were more attentive. Also would be good if the families were to pay attention to their children, but I feel like servers should be able to tell the customer to have their kids put their shoes back on - this isn't a McDonald's or a restaurant with a kid's playground. read more

The wait staff was really attentive. The featured item was the carne asada hard so I had the Carne Asada hash. It was okay. Very heavy on the chorizo and very limited on the carne asada. If you're looking for something on the lite side their salmon olmelette is a great choice. Served with thier house salad, the smokiness of the salmon is spot on without being too over bearing. Now if you're looking for something that's hearty and filling, grab their corned beef hash! It's one of their fall specials and it's only available for a limited time. I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Sub side salad for potatoes. Came with two cage-free poached eggs on top of toasted ciabatta. Had wild Alaskan smoked salmon with red onion and vine-ripened tomatoes. DELICIOUS!! Friendly server and staff, the iced coffee was pretty good and the food was served pretty fast. I haven't been here since it was Egg and I, I'm very glad I did because the food is amazing, lots of different options. One of my favorite brunch spots! 1st off, you can check the current wait time for the # of people in your party; this is especially helpful because the location nearest me, is also nearest several churches, and on Sundays if you don't time yourself just right, you will be forced to find another option, as I'm NOT waiting 45min. to an hour for a table. Knowing the current wait time, allows us to make alternate arrangements and not have to travel outta our way! When we are lucky enough to get a table w/o a long wait, the options on their menu for brunch are endless, additionally, they have seasonal offerings. I appreciate the quality of the food options which are organic, premium quality, and include numerous options for those folks with food limitations, such as, gluten free, vegetarian & vegan. The variety of offerings they have under each category seems limitless. One of my all time favorite options when I was not eating gluten per Dr. recommendation (not celiac), is the Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl - which includes. Quinoa, kale, shredded carrots, house roasted tomatoes, topped with chicken breast, basil pesto sauce, lemon white balsamic dressing, feta cheese & herbs. ALL 3 of their Hash options I've tried and each of them are delicious, with slight adjustments to their additions, depending on what you feel like eating but the "base" of the hash dishes is the same and so satisfying and the option of a few simple ingredient swaps make it a different dish to try the next time you come in topped with 2 eggs cooked the way you like (I prefer over-easy or poached) as the perfect topping on any of these dishes. After eating gluten free for so long, I occasionally want to try a pancake, simple pancakes without all the "fluff" are my favorite, like their lemon ricotta or multigrain pancakes as well- all with butter n syrup on the side (butter is spread sparingly- I don't like it drenched in butter n syrup), then as I like to tear or cut pieces off pancake off & dip the edge/corner into some syrup. just dip an edge in the syrup. The seasonal pancakes are also a great option. The Morning Market veg omelet, Italian inspired omelet & Frittata Rustica are also option to try, they are so hearty & filling and are another perfect brunch option. We've always had great servers and great service, lots of times it can make a difference on how busy the establishment is, which is why I love the option to see before you arrive. The place is set up in an open place with lots of windows, they do offer outside seating as well. There are so many different options for anyone to find a choice. Their lunch options are equally as filling and the chicken chili soup which was featured on Sunday was so hearty and filling, worth trying if you get the chance...Enjoy. read more

It has been a little while since this visit. I dread writing bad reviews so I tend to put them off. When I think about this visit, the first thing that pops into my head is the fact that we received dirty glasses & silverware. My fork had actual food stuck between the tines. I asked for another set. It took from the time we sat down until about 10 mins into everyone's meal for me to actually get a clean set of silverware. Our server was slow & very uninterested in taking care of our table. He was a short Hispanic man. Unfortunately, I don't know his name. I have 2 names that I put in my notes. David & Savannah. Savannah was the hostess & she was really nice. (She saved this review from being 1 star) David was possibly our server but more than likely he was the Mgr. Honestly, I don't think we ever got the servers name bc he barely spoke to us or came to our table. Moving on, the glass we received for our Cinnamon Toast Cereal Milk was lined w orange pulp all over, inside of it & another glass was smeared with lip gloss. It was sticky to the touch. So gross. We told the server about both & he just seemed irritated with me. Eventually the Mgr came over & instead of apologizing for the dirty glasses he talked about how hot the water in the dishwasher is... Ok, so the orange pulp & lip gloss is baked into the glass so it's ok? ‍ For this reason alone I have been pretty uninterested in writing this review. I'd rather have clean dishes, good service & yummy food but as a manager if I served a customer two visibly dirty glasses & food in the silverware, I'd at least comp one of the drinks. Not this place! We didn't get an actual apology much less a comped drink. There were 5 of us in our party & in total we spent easily over a $100 on brunch. I think one comped drink after serving 2 dirty glasses would've been common sense. Not here. The food: million dollar bacon . None of us were blown away by it. You are paying approximately $1.50 per slice of bacon. It's def not that good. It looks better than it tastes. I was told the seasoned potatoes tasted like they had been sitting under a lamp for awhile. Kinda chewy instead of crispy. Two of us ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. The flavor was good but they tasted dry. I don't understand how something with ricotta can be dry. Needless to say we didn't eat our pancakes & after the experience w the dirty glasses & silverware we knew it was pointless to say anything to management. If only we had shared an order! That's my recommendation... if you are with a group, share an order of pancakes. They are pretty big & this way, when /if they are dry, you are only wasting money on one order. The Works omelet was good but it was supposed to be topped with sour cream. (My best friend loves sour cream) & yet they didn't have any? Another friend told me that her cheesy grits were great. So, as far as the food goes the only thing that was great was the cheesy grits. Drinks: aside from drinking from dirty glasses, the Morning Meditation was very good. I'd recommend it. The Cinnamon Toast milk was FANTASTIC! It comes in a cute little bottle w a separate glass w ice & cinnamon inside of it. If only it had arrived in a clean glass. The decor inside is well thought out. Interior designer nailed it. The lighting is great & the layout is open. There are a few separate seating areas but there are open "windows" so you can still see around the restaurant. The cute comical drawings on the host stand were funny & creative. Savannah was the ONLY person working that acted like she wanted to be there. The server was obviously miserable. We saw him when he took our order (which he impatiently rushed us through), when he brought out our dirty glasses w our drinks & when he brought us the bill. That was it. Every other time someone else brought us our food & drinks. He never even checked on us. When we needed something we had to ask another server. The manager wasn't friendly at all. We were obviously a bother. The wait to be seated was atrocious. If only we had taken our friend from out of state somewhere else. Oh well. Learning experience. Final thoughts.... Drinks were great! Order them in a to go cup. You may only see one friendly face here... if Savannah is working as the hostess. Order cheesy grits. Share pancakes bc they might be dry. Do not expect clean glasses or silverware. I wanted to love this place. We felt terrible that we brought our friend here. At least she got yummy cheesy grits. Oh! She liked the coffee. It took a long time for her to get creamer but once it finally arrived she said the coffee was good. read more

First time at this location & it was not like my experiences at other locations. Typically they give you an approximate time for when you will be seated. However at this location off 281 and San Pedro gave us 3 different time frames after each one had passed. Going from a the initial 10 minute wait time where it was they just had to clean off tables to a 30/45 minute wait to be seated. I want to note it was not as busy as i've seen at other locations. We left after they changed the time frame for the 3rd time. read more
