My family has been banking with American Bank of Texas for over 20 years. Since the recent change in management, a few of my family members have experienced poor service, and unethical treatment at times, even at the management level. My father generally cashes his social security benefits every month. Last month we noticed when we got home that they gave us $100 short of the expected amount in the envelope. Instead of reviewing the security tapes, or looking into the matter, management became hostile and accused us of miscounting. Nicely done. This past Friday, my sister had a travel emergency and went to get her family passports out of their safe deposit box. The bank unfortunately refused to let her into her own safe deposit box because even though it was 40 mins before the bank closing time, they had already set the vault alarm for the day. My sister was forced to cancel an international trip. We've had a box here for decades and have never had an issue until the past few months with this new management. We have commercial and personal accounts here. My entire extended family has agreed to close all 6 accounts we have with this bank and will take our banking needs elsewhere. read more
