This is the first year that I've ever filed my tax return and I really didn't know what to expect or what I should do. A friend recommended this place to me and I have to say it was the easiest and smoothest process I have ever had at a business. I filed my tax with Dung the owner, and he was really great at explaining everything to me clearly and he made sure that I would get the most for my refund. He even printed out a sheet so that it would make it easier for me to fill in my FAFSA this upcoming year! We spoke on the phone so that I would have all the paperwork to make the process faster (W-2 and routing #). He was super friendly to me while we were talking and he made me a copy of everything. (Actually everyone in the office looked pretty friendly to me.) I think within 20 minutes or less everything was taken care of and I got an email the next day saying my refund was approved and that I should be getting money in my account within the next 2 weeks! If you guys are wondering about the space - the place is in a building where a lot of other business are at and there is lots of parking. The office is clean, neat, and brightly lit. Don't go here. It is overpriced and they don't really help with any good advice. Me and my wife went here to get our taxes done. Since we had recently gotten married and I had moved from another state, we thought we should get some professional help. Dung kept saying that our situation is very complicated. But at the end he filed for a simple standard deduction and charged us $300 for it. I think turbotax would have done it for 1/5 the price. Also after our first visit, he said he would contact us in a week. But I only heard from him after a fortnight (because he had already charged us the full amount as advance). Too bad yelp doesn't let us rate with a number lesser than zero. read more

Mr. Dung also expressed concerns about the the review I posted earlier. We discussed and explained our individual perspectives. I explained that while I respect him and his expertise I was unhappy that he charged me extra for the amendment because it wasn't my fault. First Tax Service is amazing. Professional, very hard-working, knowledgeable, thorough, communicative, and FAST! Dong Nguyen was a delight to work with, and boy did he save me a bunch of money! My situation was fairly complex, as I'm self employed and I had a complicated investment loss from my involvement with a failed start up several years back. Mr. Nguyen asked all the right questions, got all the details straightened out the next day by email, and had my returns done beautifully by the end of the next day! When I brought him my signed forms he went through everything item by item, to make sure all was well and that I understood what he had done. He even gave my advice about documenting my home office. It was my first time ever doing tax. I was referred by my friend because of their wonderful and fast services. It was amazing. I think at maximum I was there for 25-30 minutes (with a bathroom break for myself)? The place is a little hard to find because it's in a business building but once you're there you won't regret it. Make an appointment. Dung, the owner, is really kind, welcoming, and professional. He explains to you the process and once he's done with the forms he has this TV. and shows it to you. GREAT PERSONALIZED SERVICE- It's tax season again, and were all looking for a place to "trust". This is it!!!! Dung is very kind, and gets straight to the point with out being overwhelming or rude. He keeps your records, and even helps you do back taxes if you smudged it up in years passed, or simply forgot. (Don't forget about your money!!!) The location is cool, it's in a business-ie atmosphere, next to a Scientology church, so it's in a cool environment. You don't have to worry about "unsavory" characters, except maybe Tom Cruise (he's a Scientologest right...? Hey! I'm not dissing the religion...just Tom Cruise). First Tax Service had been processing our payroll since 2014. I never had to call for a single complaint. They were prompt and we were getting personalized service. Waaayyyy better than ADP or Paychex (where no one knows your name). The employees are also pleased that the collaborative software allows them to make changes to their employee profile without so much fuss. We recently used FTS for corporate as well as personal tax returns. The questionnairse made my life so easy and I was pleased with the online portal as well as interactions leading to the preparation of the final returns. My wife and I went here to do our taxes here for 2014 because I saw bunch of good 4 to 5 stars reviews. My wife is Vietnamese, so I imagine Dung would give us excellent price for doing excellent works. He ended up charging both of our tax returns for $270 just because we purchased a new home on October 2013 and my wife had financial aid from her school. He charged my tax $150 and hers $120. Funny thing was Dung quoted my wife's tax $10. After he got my wife's additional tax return items, he jacked up the price to $140. After negotiation, he dropped down to $120 due to the fact he "got more items than he initially received." If you want someone stick to their words, dont go to this office. p.s. I just did my tax for 2015, and I was charged $150 total for both of our taxes. I am sure some people here would love to pay more for professionalism than other places that can do the same exact job. read more

I definitely do not recommend filing your tax at this place. 1. It is overpriced. I am a student and they charged me 120$ to file my taxes which is ridiculous. (Note that I wouldn't mind the fee if the services were great, but it wasn't) My tax was very simple, and nothing complex. My sister who is also a student, paid the same amount. She went back because she noticed she needed to add something to her taxes, and of course they charged her a lot more for a minor additional service. 2. VERY UNORGANIZED. When the paperwork was done, they pretty much just stuffed a bunch of papers into a folder and handed it to me. I got home and noticed that they weren't in order which made things really hard to understand when I had to refer to them to fill out other paperwork (financial aid, what I owed to the IRS, etc) All in all, for the price you pay, you would expect more from this place. Well, several weeks later we finally received our response from the IRS. Dung totally nailed it! He was pretty exact in his calculations in how much we owed for mistakingly omitting a piece of income related information on a previous tax return. My husband and I file jointly every year, but Dung denied me access to my files and never included me in any correspondence as if I was secondary on the filing. 4.5 stars. Moved to NorCal from another state. Found place from other Yelp reviewers. The quote was reasonable for both my husband and I, considering we bought a house, 2 states, and federal filings. It ended up costing slightly more than was told on the phone. It was also slightly difficult to understand Dung, but he is nice. Overall, I'm satisfied for the reasonable cost, quick turn around, and relatively good and hassle free service. Recommend to ask what is needed before showing up and any concerns. read more
