Our family's experience with my mother's care was extremely concerning. During my mother's stay, there were repeated issues involving her basic care and medical needs. We repeatedly had to advocate for things that should have been addressed as part of her care. This included problems with obtaining her commode and walker, monitoring her weight and fluid retention while she was taking Lasix for significant heart-related concerns, and getting assistance with her CPAP machine. There were also times when our concerns were minimized despite her documented medical history and needs. My mother was discharged from Kaiser on a normal diet, yet Asbury Park gave her pureed food for much of her stay. The facility later acknowledged that this was an error and apologized. She also has psoriasis and was supposed to have creams applied as part of her care, which was not consistently done. Even more upsetting, there were times she was left in bed soiled for extended periods. We raised concerns repeatedly, and far too many things seemed to be addressed only after our family escalated them. Families should not have to constantly fight to make sure basic hygiene needs, medical equipment, dietary orders, medications, and physician instructions are being followed. Because of the seriousness of what happened, I filed a formal complaint with the California Department of Public Health. CDPH opened an investigation, went to the facility, spoke with staff and administration, and reviewed my mother's records. That investigation has now been completed, and I was informed directly by the California Department of Public Health that Asbury Park was cited as a result of their investigation. For me, that is important to include because these concerns were not simply a family being unhappy with the care our mother received. We reported what happened to the state, the state investigated, and the investigation resulted in a citation against the facility. Our loved ones deserve dignity, proper hygiene, appropriate medical care, and for their documented care plans and physician orders to be followed without their families having to repeatedly intervene. If you have a loved one staying here, please advocate for them. Visit often, ask questions, document everything, and speak up when something does not seem right. I am grateful that our concerns were taken seriously and investigated, but I wish my mother had received the level of care she deserved from the beginning.

The staff took excellent care of her--carefully monitoring her condition, administering medications, and supporting her recovery. Notably, she did not experience any falls during her stay, which was a significant relief given that she had fallen on her very first day at a previous skilled nursing facility. The reason I am giving four stars instead of five is due to a lack of communication after admission. Neither my husband nor I were contacted regarding her condition, diagnosis, care plan, goals, or discharge planning. It wasn't until I visited the facility in person four days later and requested to speak with someone that we received this information. My mother-in-law did mention that the care environment felt very constant, saying, "They never leave you alone--up at 5:30 for medications, bright lights, no privacy." However, I reassured her that the staff was being attentive and doing their job to support her recovery. By the fourth day, her infection had cleared, and she had regained independence in getting to and from the bathroom without incontinence issues. According to the discharge planner, she was also able to walk 175 feet with a walker under supervision. Special recognition goes to Sondra, the discharge planner, who was incredibly efficient. She coordinated the physician's discharge orders, medication reconciliation, and completed the necessary 602 forms for her return to assisted living--all by 2:55 PM on the same day I met her. We arranged private medical transportation, and my mother-in-law was comfortably settled back into her own bed by 6:15 PM that evening. Overall, we are grateful for the quality of care she received, with the main area for improvement being communication with family members.

I am fed up with doctors that think they can boss their patients around! When he works for Advanced he doesn't represent Sutter. He just happens to work for Sutter and Advanced. The real truth emerges. As a result of the fluid restrictions and simply awful food I lost a significant amount of weight. At Sutter Roseville Medical Center, the 2nd rehab facility I resided in and the assisted living facility I currently live at I was never subjected to fluid restrictions! On 7/10/26 I received an completely unwanted phone call from the administrator of this dump of a facility! That's the reason for the 1-star rating. Case closed forever.

I just completed the Partial Hospitalization Program at Fair Oaks Recovery Center, and I am beyond…read moregrateful that I had the opportunity to step away from work and focus on my recovery. I had been trying to get sober since February 2022 through AA alone, but I wasn't successful. I had the willingness, but without treatment, it just wasn't enough. The staff at FORC helped me build a solid foundation for recovery that I had been missing. They provided the education, support, and accountability that I needed to move forward. During treatment, I also struggled with dual-diagnosis disordered eating symptoms that, in the past, had led me back to using. The team at FORC helped me work through those challenges while maintaining my sobriety, and I am incredibly grateful for the care and support they gave me. Leaving the program clean and sober felt like such an accomplishment. One of the best parts of the program was finding my people. After about a year of being stubborn about returning to AA and NA, I found myself back at meetings with my friends from FORC and genuinely enjoying it. Before I knew it, I had a sponsor and was working the steps again. None of that was required, it just seemed to happen through osmosis somehow, which is actually pretty funny. Thank you, FORC, for everything you did for me. I wholeheartedly recommend this program. 10/10.

Before I attended Fair Oaks Recovery Center I wasn't sure what to expect, as I have never been an…read moreimpatient at a rehab center before. Right off the bat I attended all of the classes, speaker sessions, alumni night (while impatient), and AA meetings (I wasn't used to going to AA meetings). I never considered myself an addict until the prescription medications I was given started to alter my behavior for the worst, affecting my family. What I like about this place is that it structures so many different aspects of psychological and physical therapy into the day. I was doing trauma classes with Tina (who is marvelous by the way), and Andy (who is also compassionate towards every guest). Theresa is an awesome, wonderful human being, who has an electric wealth of knowledge and wisdom. All of these three gave me the gift of looking past my shame and guilt, and to a future where I could be a service to others. I went in after detoxing 7 days at home because I didn't want to relapse, so I removed myself from the world for a little bit. This gives the person the space to rethink their choices, and to develop new habits that lead to more improved behaviors. I suggest those of you thinking about only doing a seven day detox to rethink this choice, as working the program goes beyond just detoxification. You need to put in the work, and being vulnerable to change is the only way you'll ever get better. Think of relapse prevention like a spider web. The more the web is laced with individual strands (tools: AA, NA, Sponsor, PHP/IOP, church, community service, therapist, psychiatrist, medications, self-confidence, self-love, etc.) the better you'll be able to handle whatever life throws at you, because life will throw the kitchen sink at you. If you want help, it's good to be assertive. People won't be able to read your mind, but they're good at reading your body language. I felt shame and guild before I entered this place, I left with wisdom, friends.l, a foundation, and what I needed to do in order to not get loaded. Your choice to select this establishment is going to be life-changing in so many ways, for the better. People that love themselves don't get loaded, they do EVERYTHING to protect themselves. They just don't hire anyone, they're very selective, and it' shows through the effort they put in to keep your eyes on the prize...your sobriety.

Because of infections that happened during my dad's stay they sent him away so they wouldn't have to be responsible for him. This facility doesn't want to care for or help patients that may require extra support and more tailored therapies. The nursing staff acts in a way that is unbecoming of the nursing profession. They have laughed at, made fun of, and rolled their eyes when asked for help with my dad. I came in multiple times to find my dad sitting in his own filth in tears that nobody would help him. Sitting in wheelchairs that were too short so his legs were jammed into his chest, left there unable to move in excruciating pain. Having nurses laugh at patients, drag their feet to offer hands on care, and leaving patients filthy and unable to move directly violates ethics standards set out by the Nursing Practice Act. Professional conduct should uphold patients dignity and show compassion not demean people who have gone through life changing health issues. The therapist for the most part are kind and caring. Though there are a few who have no business working with people in this type of environment (I'm looking at you Jeff). The rehabilitation aspect is the only thing I trust this facility with which is why my dad had a family member there nearly 24:7. My sister stayed over night three nights a week. The one star is for them and nobody else! Case managers are not communicative and unavailable the majority of the time. Perhaps other people have better reviews and experiences because they are not seeing the type of care their loved ones are getting. all I can tell you is be present and do not trust that these people are properly caring for those you love. If your loved one had a stroke and can't speak clearly, walk, or take care of themselves do not leave them alone here. A shiny new facility is a great distraction for the patient neglect that is happening when you aren't looking.

Dr. Yabes and the other doctors were incredible--professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Maria and all the nurses were beyond amazing--so gentle, patient, and dedicated. They treated my dad like family, and that meant everything during such a difficult time. Rick, the pharmacist, was also wonderful--thorough, caring, and great at explaining everything we needed to know. The Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists were the absolute best--encouraging, skillful, and deeply invested in helping my dad regain strength and independence. We brought our own meds (Hypertension, etc), which they identified but did not give us. Instead they ordered their own (same meds) through their pharmacy which I was later billed for. I'm not sure how legal it is to be bound by contracts you sign when you are totally inebriated as expected when checking into a detox facility. Buyer beware, it's all about money...

I cannot believe how inept this whole program was from the get go. My son was put into a detox…read morefacility and after a few days was put into the "drug rehab portion" of the Cedar Point Recovery. We received numerous calls about my son's seizures at the detox house on Madison Ave. It did not appear to be staffed with any medical personnel able to handle anything at all of a medical nature though. He spent the entire time going in & out of emergency rooms and they did not seem to comprehend that seizures are common in people detoxing from severe drug use. He also had his Versace sandals stolen at this "detox house"! All they said at the end is, we gave you everything back! No inventory control whatsoever. Before he was ready, they put him in the "rehab house" to start the program. He continued with his seizures at this new location and was in the emergency room and ambulances for very long periods of time again. I cannot imagine this withdrawal situation was not able to be handled on site. $20,000.00 later, I receive a phone call stating an employee or person attending the program has COVID! The staff insisted that I pick him up to quarantine at home for 2 weeks and if I did not he would be put out on the street. Unfuckingbeleivable! My son was straight pay as well as 2 other men that were sent to the airport for 12-24 hour waits for their flights with no food or money to go to their homes or any notification to anyone in their families. My son shows up in an Uber a couple of hours later, we were totally unprepared for this! He is still here in mostly the same condition we sent him to CPR. My son told us that the cook had Pneumonia and was not sure if others were sick too. They kept him and the other 2 in a barren room for 2-3 hours (no clocks in the room) before they shipped them out to where they came from. Basically once they send you home no one returns calls or gives a shit about any of them. We paid for an Uber for 1 of the men sent home that had no money or anyone to help him get to his house once he arrived in his own state. My son gave his last $20.00 to one of them to buy food also. You could not make this up after the caring thoughtful and convincing stories of HELP AWAITING from every person involved, from the top to the bottom of seniority. We were told if my son left early his refund would be prorated also. Guess what is the cherry on top? Not one human has explained anything to my son or us, the payee's. No executives, directors, or any other human of CPR have explained any of this to us. You will never be able to speak to any of them. We are currently looking into legal options because they did virtually nothing but barely babysit him for a few days. This place should be ashamed and make reparations to all involved for what they have done. PS, my son said he was never once seen by any psychiatrist, only physician assistants. I will update later on the lawsuit we are pursuing. Look elsewhere for help. This is obviously a scam for what should have been a safe haven for beginning recovery. Thank goodness
