Took liberties with repainting whole portions of the car, and when challenged the Newark brother and his staff became belligerent. Porsche of Newark should cut all ties with Moppert immediately. There are Porsche collision centers in PA that will treat you better.

They even drove us to pick up the rental. Everyone was super friendly and sensitive to our situation, which was very much appreciated being 3 states away from home with a broken car.

My 16 year old has a 2008 GMC Sierra Club Cab (which is a half cab not full back seat) with 180,000 miles on it. We have put enormous money into the mechanicals so it is safe. The ONLY thing he dislikes about it: The Paint. And I don't blame him it's horrible. BUT, it's still an 18-year-old truck with 180K on the ticker. So I made him an offer, let's find an inexpensive paint job, I'll front the money, you work it off or pay it back. He jumped at that and here we are, at Maaco in Newark, which I would imagine is not unique for purposes of this story. We look online, find Maaco which is 70 miles away, but they have a $200 off coupon and we did the "On-Line Estimate" which comes up at about $750. SOLD! That's in the ball park plus or minus. The excited teen calls, and is told on the phone, the estimate is about $950. He told me that and I was suspicious about a sudden increase of $200.... but wait... there's more. We make an appointment for the next day (thinking we are taking it to drop it off, NOT get another estimate). We drove 70 miles to arrive at 9:00 am and were greeted by the same, very personable and understanding, technician working the desk. He starts an estimate and we go with the flow and walk to the wall display where the tech discusses options A) $700 low budget B) $950 mid grade with a 4 year warranty. C) Top shelf, Premier last paint you'll ever need $2700. We don't need that, but we'll spring for that $950 with a warranty. PERFECT.... oh wait, there's more. For an added $750 they will remove the old paint AND sand the truck... then there are those two area's of surface rust on the rear fender - they have to charge 5 hours labor to repair, add $250. Oh and wait, it's an extra large vehicle, who knew? Have to add a few more hundred for that. Kind of makes a guy wonder why it is a larger vehicle than when we put in the particulars of the vehicle online.... did the computer think we said Toyota Corolla? At the end of the day, the written estimate slams in at $2,600... and that's AFTER they honor the $200 coupon... oh yay! So it is really $2,800 paint job??? No Thank You. It's an old truck, perfect for a kid driving his first few years. IT IS NOT a $2,800 paint job candidate... and the estimator knew what we were looking for, we had already discussed that. So here is the SUMMARY; Avoid MAACO (most likely just in general any Maaco) like the plague. If their advertised pricing and "on-line estimates" are that much of a bait and switch scam, I just can't imagine how bad the paint jobs must be. I would hate to find out what honoring their warranty looks like. So again, MY TAKE... if they'll scam a kid, they'll scam ANYONE. And inflating prices by 290%, nearly 3 times the advertised $950... that is just a Come-On to get you in the door. We hard passed, but good news, the tech was nice, and they were willing to honor that $200 coupon.
