I hired S&S Mechanical to install a Kohler 26 KW Generator at our house in Nevada as they were…read moreabout the only certified Kohler Dealer within a 50 mile radius of our same retirement community. From day one, I regret that choice. As a retired Electrical/ Instrumentation Technician, I am rather particular about what kind of equipment I have installed around my house. Kohler's Generator / Automatic transfer switch (ATS) is a smart system that can be monitored remotely, which is important to me. The Electrical Contractor I hired requested a substitute panel which degraded the communication ability of the system and S&S Mechanical sourced the older panel without discussing with me what the repercussions were. That issue was resolved by installing the original, proper transfer switch after the fact. After the Generator was set on its pad, S&S Mechanical sent out an Apprentice Plumber, who had never worked with Poly tubing before to connect the Generator to my propane system. (500 gal. tank, feeding 9 separate loads). Having not worked with Poly before, he didn't understand the importance of cleaning and deburring cuts made into the line. Needless to say, the line leaked once we opened the tank valve. He had arrived onsite with only 1 Poly tee. He walked away to make a phone call and when I went looking for him, he had drove away. I called S&S Mechanical the next morning to find out what the plan forward was. I was told that the Apprentice Plumber had told me that he would be out the next day, which that conversation never took place. He did show back up the next day with a new tee and deburring tool and was able to repair the line with no leaks after the system was pressured back up. Then the Gentleman that they sent to configure / startup the generator was very nice; however, he had his nose in a manual on every single step he made. That didn't inspire any confidence in his experience to me. Several weeks ago, I called S&S Mechanical to schedule the first yearly maintenance on my Generator and was given a date several weeks out, which was fine. Yesterday when their technician didn't show up for the schedule appointment, I called S&S Mechanical asking why he didn't show up. I was told that the Tune-up kit (Air Filter/Oil Filter, Plugs) had not arrived at their business yet, and that S&S had left a voicemail on my cell phone letting me know of the delay. I checked my phone and there was no voice mail, no missed call from S&S, so they were outright dishonest to me. I then looked online for a Tune-up kit for my specific Generator, and I could have a kit delivered to my house within 4 days, so someone dropped the ball on ordering as well. I have found another company to service my Generator in the future and I would NOT recommend S&S Mechanical to anyone.

In April of 2021 I purchased and moved into a BRAND NEW home. In my mind this meant that I would…read morerarely - if ever - run into any mechanical or structural issues; especially not within the first few years. However, I have had multiple issues with the A/C system in the course of a year and a half - all of which have been related to the hack job installation performed by All Star Cooling & Heating. Within only a few months, the A/C completely froze up. This should NOT happen on a brand new unit! Unless, of course, there were issues with the installation. Luckily, I was able to resolve this issue myself. Shortly after the first incident, after only owning and living in my brand new home for approximately 3.5 months, the A/C completely quit functioning. I corresponded with the home builder and they recommended I have the original company, All Star Cooling & Heating, come out to address the problem. After dealing with an interior temperature of 90+ degrees and hours of my time wasted with incompetent employees from All Star Cooling & Heating onsite, the laborers didn't mention any major problems to me but merely attributed the issue to a loose fitting. All Star Cooling & Heating tightened the fitting and topped off the coolant then never returned. Approximately a year after All Star Cooling & Heating essentially put a bandaid on the issue (16 months in the home), my A/C began to show the same signs that it did as it was going out last summer. At this point, I took it upon myself to call a company that I know and trust to come out and asses the problem. Within less than an hour, the technician from this other company was able to identify multiple issues that were all caused from the terrible installation done during the initial home build. Below are the issues that were identified: -There was a piston installed on the evaporator. However, this unit was designed to have a TXV for best operation. The superheat was only running at 1.5 degrees, which result in premature compressor failure. -The o-ring on said piston fitting was the wrong size and was leaking. -The coil box was only supported by one small chain in the middle, thus causing it to sag out of shape and not drain properly. -One of the return air ducts had fallen off and was sucking air in from the attic. Because of All Star Cooling & Heating, I had to pay nearly $1,000 to have all of their mistakes fixed; not to mention the year and a half worth of high electricity bills that I was paying due to most of my cool air blowing directly into the attic, rather than the home. I know that I am not the only one that has had issues with their installation. I have spoken to 4 other homeowners in my neighborhood, who had their A/C systems installed by All Star Cooling & Heating, that have had their systems cause them countless issues. Whatever you do, DO NOT settle for All Star Cooling & Heating. Stay far, far away from this joke of a company.

I spoke with a lovely receptionist who ensured I felt like I was a top priority. She scheduled the general manager to come out and take a look. Everything was fixed with a little finesse on the air conditioning unit itself, a little bit of info about the system and how to set up vents, and just some general customer service. I will be using All-Star for any heating and cooling needs--they provide excellent value for the service. I would recommend this company to anyone who lives in the area. Don't hesitate to call. If you think something might be wrong, save the money and get it looked at now. Don't wait, or it's going to cost you more.

I contacted Choice home, #Warranty who I would never ever ever under any circumstance recommend to anyone. They eventually finally sent someone. That someone turned out to be Danny from Payless. He is a really nice guy and was really patient considering the #Warranty company was screwing him around just to do a recharge on the air conditioner. He ended up giving them a really good price in order to get things finished up. But even in general, his price would've been very fair. He knows his stuff and he's very interested in making sure the customer is happy I'm going to have him come back separately to do soft starts on my air conditioners and have decided that he is now my go to Guide for anything HVAC related. I highly recommend him in his company.
