The first thing that caught my attention wasn't even the ice cream... it was the names. This isn't your average ice cream shop with "vanilla," "chocolate," and "strawberry." Their flavors have personality! Names like I Live It, How I Get It, Brown Bombshell, and Andy Griffith (their take on classic vanilla) immediately made me smile. It's such a fun, creative touch that fits the neighborhood perfectly. According to the website, their flavors are inspired by Harlem, local culture, and favorite desserts, which makes the experience feel even more unique. The ice cream absolutely lived up to the recommendation. Rich, creamy, flavorful, and worth the stop. Even with a steady flow of customers, the staff kept the line moving, stayed friendly, and made everyone feel welcome. The only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score is the size of the shop. It's tiny! Of course, that's not really their fault, but it can feel a little cramped when it's busy. Overall, Sugar Hill Creamery is a must-visit if you're in Harlem. Great ice cream, creative flavors, friendly service, and a neighborhood gem I'll definitely be back for. Sorry I didn't capture any pics. 4.5/5 stars

I've been to this location many years ago and I assumed some flavors would be available but I didn't know they switch up thru the seasons. This wasn't a big deal to me as I found it refreshing and an opportunity to see what else they offer. My hubby is a true lover of ice cream and treats it like an experience, so he wanted a sample of everything and the staff were kind in serving him. I decided on the vanilla bean and honey lavender. Both really great! The honey Lavendar is expecially unconventional to me but works well! The Lavendar note hits the back of your taste buds but it isn't strong or overpowering, instead the honey lends sweetness to balance everything out. The vanilla bean was standard but nice as well. Both had a nice mouth feel - they were smooth, creamy, and rich. Nothing like haagen daaz but just right. In terms of pricing, I had a double scoop which came up to $7.75 (before tax). I felt like that was fair for the amount received and type of business. Service was good and the staff were helpful. Finally, the establishment was clean all around, including the bathroom. They also had a small water dispenser for customers to take water as needed. Overall, a nice experience. I'll definitely be returning and I recommend to all at least once.

I just popped in for a late night treat on a cold rainy day and it was everything I needed to lift my spirits up. I'm used to the Lenox Ave location so switching it up by coming to Broadway was nice. As usual, the flavors options are extremely unique. I tasted the Thai Noodle flavor because I thought it sounded so funny as a concept and I was pleasantly surprised at how they made something that's typically a dish into an enjoyable ice cream flavor. I landed on getting two scoops in a cone and it was roughly $11. The toppings options are vast but I figured it wasn't needed with the creative ice cream flavors I selected. The blueberry cheesecake was delightful, filled with chunks of blueberry and the occasional (surprising) sour hint to balance out the sweetness. The peach cobbler lived up to the name and I have nothing to say except deliciousssssss. I always appreciate Harlem based businesses that make it clear they're committed to the liberation of the community. Seeing certain community activists/pillars in murals on the wall was such a reflective moment. The server I had tonight was very sweet, patient and inviting. 10/10 experience

However, I wouldn't necessarily call it a destination spot. I do wish this place success though, as the UES desperately needs more good food spots, and this place is definitely worthwhile. But the taste is great, the portions are huge, and it's definitely worth it! Pistachio: The pistachio flavor is very strong, even a bit salty. The nutty and creamy aroma of hazelnuts is rich, and because no sugar is added, it's not too sweet. A pure yet exquisite flavor. Strawberry Mascarpone & Ricotta: Amazing! It tastes like strawberry cheesecake! The perfect amount of cheese, combined with the refreshing strawberry jam, is simply wonderful. Cranberry: A very simple fruit sorbet. Most people might find it too sour, but for someone like me who loves sour flavors and had just eaten in Thai restaurant like Tha Phraya, it was perfect.
