This was maybe our number one recommendation when we were planning our trip to Chicago and I am so glad that we made time for it. We had tickets for Saturday morning at 9:30am and we got lucky with beautiful weather. Our tour guide Bob P. was absolutely incredible and I truly feel like I learned so much. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Chicago and even people that already live in Chicago but have never done the tour!

Such a fun experience! The views from the boat were amazing. We went on a rainy day, it was a bit chilly, but still 100% worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about architecture. This tour was my favorite thing we did in Chicago. My husband and I walked away with a greater appreciation for architecture. Definitely recommend doing a boat tour on The First Lady!

My husband and I visited our friends in Chicago, who highly recommended to go on an architecture boat tour! We booked through First Lady and had a great time. It was 1.5 hours and our tour guide Amy was amazing! She had so many fun facts about each building and there was so much passion all throughout the tour. We had a great time thank you again!

We took a river boat tour through downtown Chicago with First Lady which is partnership with Chicago Architecture Center (CAC). It was both informative and enjoyable. It was a great way to learn about the city's rich history and iconic architecture. Our tour guide (I wish I remember his name- I believe it was Joe) was knowledgeable, engaging, and spoke clearly throughout the 90 minutes cruise. He shared fascinating stories about Chicago's history, the city's skyline, and the architectural landmarks we passed along the river. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago who wants to learn more about the city's history and architecture.

I was with a couple of friends visiting from out of state. One of them studied architecture and I thought this would be a great activity to do on Chicago. It was a clear, hot summer day perfect for a cruise. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept the passengers involved by asking questions along the way. We appreciate the architectural history and diversity of the Chicago ski even more after this tour. Most passengers were on the top level to enjoy an open view of the city. If you want to do the same on a hot summer day, make sure you book the 10AM cruise before it gets too hot since there is no shade or umbrellas on the top level.

This tour is so good. I am such a geek when it comes down to tours and architecture tours I wanna know the who the what the win the way or the Y in the house and especially with Chicago being such an amazing town and just so rich of culture in history I wanted to partake in it. I can't really wait to do it again our tour guide John was so good. He was so good. He was really amazing and I when I come back I'm gonna ask and see when he's doing tours because I want to go on his tour. I really felt like I was in a classroom with virtual hands-on experience of the architectural building buildings.

Andy was amazing! Went on the creepy nighttime boat tour focused on Chicago crimes. His stories and personality are perfect and loved the cheesy bits he added in! Would highly recommend this tour to others! Still talking about his stories the next day. Also appreciated him addressing the people loudly talking and laughing right in front of him while he was story telling.

Amazing views. Excellent speaker who knew all her histories on each and every building. She was amazing with her knowledge and facts on building. Service was great but it was cold. Overall wonderful time and amazing view. Highly recommend for the views and for relaxation with the family.

You can't come to Chicago and not have a river boat experience and First Lady didn't disappoint. Prices are fair. We did the cheaper river sightseeing tour and got to go into the lake too. Well worth the time and money! Priority line was worth getting the seat I wanted.

Our guide, Amy, was superb. Very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. I was engaged the entire ninety minute ride listening to her explain the history behind the architecture along the river in Chicago. Highly recommend for a good experience and new respect for the buildings of the city.

Wonderful tour with a knowledgeable tour guide full of fascinating Chicago trivia to go along with the history of beautiful buildings along the riverfront. Thank, Dave!

Without using any notes, David shared key tidbits we did not know about The Bear's backstory as we visited 7 locations made famous by the show, all from within a comfortable tour bus driven safely by a highly entertaining Chicago native. Getting to visit Mr. Beef, Margie's Candies and Roeser's Bakery were major highlights for me, sampling the famous Chicago beef sandwich, the hot fudge sundae (in a giant clamshell!) and the strawberry glazed donut made me want to move to Chicago. As a New Yorker who typically hates tours, I thought this was well worth the money and time, and I'm so happy we did it. If you're a fan of the Bear this is a must-do. Highly recommended.

So fun and witty, and he really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. All the places we visited were very special and iconic, including a bakery that's 115 years old and an ice cream shop that's 105 years old. It was really fun remembering where these places appeared in the show. Another perk of the tour was skipping lines and having special areas and service just for us. And not having to drive and look for parking. The air conditioned bus was lovely and comfortable, and it was fabulous to be driven around different neighborhoods. We went to so many great places and it's a fun way to get to know the city better. We ate so much good food!!! Italian beef sandwich, charcuterie, pepperoni pizza, hot fudge sundae, strawberry donut and more. Great drinks too! Beer and cocktails, or soda. I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day! Everything was delicious! I highly recommend this tour! It was exceptional and worth every penny.

My wife did this tour a couple years ago and highly recommended it, but I wasn't especially interested because I had also gone to school here and figured I knew enough about Hyde Park already. However, she insisted that it would be worth our while and so I agreed to climb on the bus. And it was the absolutely right decision, because the tour was excellent. In fact, it wasn't just a tour of Hyde Park. It included the surrounding neighborhoods of Washington Park, Kenwood, Jackson Park, and Woodlawn. Since this was a UChicago sponsored event much of the information related to the University's investment and involvement in the area. Our tour guide and founder of Chicago Detours, Amanda, is herself a graduate of UChicago and thus she had some additional insight into the relationship with the community. Though the 75-minute tour felt a little slow-going at times, there was much to learn about the vibrant but sometimes troubled history of the area. Amanda has tremendous knowledge and the excursion was both fascinating and entertaining. I can imagine that Chicago Detours would have equally interesting tours of other neighborhoods in this diverse city.

People in Amsterdam will also ask if you have done a canal boat tour - and you have to do these when you visit these cities. Our docent volunteer guide, Steve, was excellent. The boat staff was also hardworking and ready to help with any issues, from getting a drink at the boat's downstairs bar to handing out covers when the rain hit us. For what we paid, the 1.5 hour tour was more than worth it. I recommend sitting at the top towards the back, as you don't have to crane your neck as much when he points out places of interest. Loved the wealth of information they offer as it's valuable to understand Chicagos importance from the ground up! I thought it would be more about highlighting the amazing architectural buildings around the city but nothing like that. It's was more about the environmental impact the city has and the hurdles when designing buildings around town. The staff were friendly at check in and provided great service overall as they were kind and helpful.
