Can I give six stars? This is just about a perfect tour for those who have never been to Chicago...maybe even a must do for those that have. We hit upon all the sights...from Wrigley field in the north (on the morning of a Sox Cubs game!) to the south side and all points in between. The driver TJ is a consummate professional and the tour guide Todd a font of knowledge about the City with an obvious love for it. My older parents and I had a wonderful time. I really cannot recommend this enough. Fantastic! And I thought pretty reasonably priced for up to four people for almost four hours. This was a stroke of genius I had, it was going to be our last day in Chicago and we had a flight at 5pm, so what I thought would be kind of a wasted day. But then I found CPT online and decided to do a 4 hr tour with my wife and then they dropped us off at the airport - fun and convenient!! The guide and driver were incredibly knowledgeable and we really had a great time. I was in Chicago for a work conference and needed a shuttle to transport a group of 10 attendees to a local hospital (for a tour) and contacted Chicago Private Tours to transport us. The price was extremely affordable (less than several bus companies). TJ was our driver and was so friendly. This was an excellent tour. Two men lead the tour a driver, who was very polite and accommodating, and the tour guide, who was funny and very knowledgeable about the city. My family and I (4 people) had plenty of room in the car which was very clean and spacious. The tour guides were very accommodating to what we wanted to do. They had a great plan of city land marks to see, but you could also request to drive to certain landmarks that you wanted to see. My family had to wake up at 3:30 to catch our plane and we still had a great time. Definitely worth it if you want an in-depth tour of the city. read more

I had grown up just outside of Chicago and was returning after 30 years for my 30th high school reunion. My husband and son had never seen where I grew up and I was very excited to show them around. Problem was that I was not really capable of showing them around the city (having been a child at the time 30 years hence), and our time was limited. We only had 1 full day in Chicago proper. I found CPT on Trip Advisor and booked them. All I can say is: BOOK THIS TOUR! If you have limited time, do it. Our driver was Jim and our tour guide was Todd (I see Matt and Mike mentioned a lot here on Yelp, but not Todd). Todd was fantastic! So friendly and knowledgeable and cracking jokes - even off-hand comments I'd make or little side questions I'd mutter mostly to myself - he had answers for them! Gotta get up pretty early in the morning to get one past ol' Todd! I heard stories about Chicago I'd never heard before. I went places I had never been before. And I also learned about things I was taught as a child (in school, mind you!) that were flat our WRONG (Mrs. O'Leary's cow did NOT start the fire! Total myth, but her name wasn't cleared until 120 years later). Todd even kept my 13-year old rapt with attention the entire 3 hours because the information was relayed in such an interesting and entertaining way. With this tour, you can customize it to focus on whatever area you are interested in. Since we were not familiar with the city we let them guide us throughout the city. This tour is great in that once you've completed the tour you can decide which areas you want to go back and see in more detail. You are in and out of the car as you tour downtown Chicago. Went on two tours specifically organized for our tour group of 17. We covered the city and north on the first tour, and a couple of days later the southside of Chicago. Matt & Mike were great!! Personable, knowledgeable, charming, funny, helpful, couldn't ask for better guides. We asked lots of questions and if they didn't know the answers, they looked them up! We hired Chicago Private Tours for a city tour for out of town spanish-speaking guests for our wedding. On the day of the tour the Spanish speaking guide was unwell and could not do the tour. To make up for it our guest got a great tour in English (with some guests translating for others) and were able to do an additional river/lake cruise. They really enjoyed the tour and had wonderful things to say about the guide. We really appreciate that Chicago Private Tours went out of their way to make this a great experience for our guests, even in the face of unexpected difficulties. I hate to be repetitive, but I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I recently hosted six friends from Paris. One friend speaks English pretty well, but the other five speak no English. We had been at my home in La Crosse, but I wanted to show them the big city in Chicago. I found the company through Tripadvisor, and it was absolutely perfect. Andrea, the girl who took my reservation, was extremely helpful. Their employees, Chloe and TJ, met my group at the Museum of science and industry, took them around the city to see the highlights, and then dropped them at our meeting place at Navy Pier. My friends could not have been happier. Sandrine had that little two hour break from having to translate everything for the rest of the group. Both of the adults were happy, and the four children loved all of the sites also. This company serves an important need in Chicago, and I would be pleased to recommend them to anyone. A special thanks to Chloe, TJ, and to Andrea! ( At one point I had a concern so I called the dispatcher. He, too, could not have been nicer. I try to get some insight into the amount that I should be tipping for the services, but he insisted that it was at the customers' own discretion. We are a family of 6, mother, father, 4 children and wanted to have a tour in Chicago at the beginning of our week of visit, to get a general view of the city and pick up points of interest to be explored in later.
