PARKING Plenty of street parking. For loading, you'll need to pull into their private dirt driveway, which is straightforward. SELECTION Wide variety of plants. Definitely ask about current inventory and new arrivals. They didn't have my go-to fiddle leaf, but there were plenty of solid alternatives. I walked out with an aloe vera, elephant ear, rubber tree, and snake plant for under $200. Credit cards are accepted with a 3% fee. CUSTOMER SERVICE The place is big, so you'll need to flag down Jeffrey or Julio. Both are knowledgeable and helpful with general plant questions. If you ask, they'll give you honest recommendations and clear care instructions. OVERALL Friendly, family-owned vibe with genuinely reasonable prices. No nonsense, no upselling. I bought twelve silver sheens at this place. A couple of weeks later, some of my trees already started to show signs of weakness. I went back to the store to ask for help, but the staff showed no sympathy and wasn't willing to give me advice. They told me they had no idea what to do to remedy the situation. Something I highly doubt, given the fact they have to maintain hundreds of these trees healthy. A month later, only two trees had survived and still do up to this day. Of course, this place will offer me no replacement or discount. Avoid this place that does not care about plants and customers. read more

They have some cool plants. Their prices are pretty much the same as Home Depot or Lowes but it's more convenient. The service is personal. Someone will take you through the lots to check out the inventory, The health of the plants is hit or miss and they have no return policy. read more

I saved 33% buying from them as opposed buying from C&S- the same 5 gallon Kangaroo Paws and First Image had even better plants. They delivered my entire purchase that I selected- same day- that was today Saturday. Delivery person was very friendly and accommodating. I really like this nursery. It's got a huge selection and the woman running it is always nice and helpful. It's pretty mellow and low key which I like. The flowers are always beautiful and healthy. Everything I've ever gotten from them has done well (and I don't have a green thumb necessarily!). I didn't find it as expensive as most other places. In fact I tend to feel like their prices are lower. I really prefer this nursery over many others! it's worth a trip! read more

First Image Nursery has a huge selection of plants, trees and flowers at great prices. This is always my first choice when it comes to a landscaping project or the occasional plant replacement. I had an issue with a couple of trees that went into shock this past summer, but after Brian de luis came out to inspect them, they appear to be alive.I look forward to the new growth this coming spring / summer of 2015. I'm very satisfied with First Image Nursery because Brian followed through with my inspection request. He felt bad that the trees went into shock and gave me an incredible offer for my disappointment. I will go back and purchase again and would definitely recommend this nursery. I discovered this nursery and absolutely love it. You see... I spend a lot of time between my camera, kitchen and garden. It's a hard toss whether I will pick up my camera, cook or work in the garden.... This nursery is a paradise for garden lovers. It's the kind of place where people put love into the green and it shows. Maybe the plants are a bit more expensive than your average garden centers, but it's worth it, well worth it. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. They have a huge selection of extremely healthy plants. They also will deliver for a nominal fee. One tip I believe is extremely helpful is that they have always given me substantial discounts when I have asked when I have bought many plants and paid in cash. Definitely ask for a discount if buying a lot and paying cash. :) read more

I have never actually patronized this business, though I always intended to as I work nearby. However, now I am certain that I will never visit this nursery, even if they have lovely product, as their staff is unacceptably rude and nasty. I parked at a gray curb across the street from their nursery, there was no signage whatsoever except a temporary no parking for the following week. As I walked away from my car, one of the employees ran out yelling after me, saying I couldn't park there because it is customer parking. I responded that there was nothing to indicate that, and so I would remain parked there (parking is VERY difficult to find in this area). She said that the city was coming to put in signs the next week. I responded that once the signs were up, then they could enforce the parking restrictions, but not before. The employee responded by screaming at me that she would have my towed if I remained parked there!! I cannot imagine running out of the front of our place of business and screaming at a potential customer that they cannot park in what is clearly public parking. I love plants and was looking for a new nursery, but this place will NEVER have my business. They need to hire better employees that understand not only customer care, but also respect for people in general. read more

price is competitive, but return policy is horrible. and the sales girl didn't mention to me until I plan to return the extra 15 gallon tress two days after. The small print says: To exchange material 20% restock fee and must be in good condition, No money return, only exchange next day. I bought 6 tress(15 gallons each), but only found that I have room for 4. After I planted them 2 days after, I plan to return them, when I called them, they told me this policy (they didn't tell me when I was buying!). Yes, it was my fault that I didn't measure my space, but they didn't tell me that 20% restock fee and exchange only neither. Avoid doing business with them or you will be stuck with whatever you bought from them. read more

My coworker told me about this place when I mentioned that I needed a tree for my front yard. They have a great selection of all types of plants at very very reasonable prices. Imelda is very helpful and she assisted me in selecting the type of plants that I wanted for the planter alongside the entry path. If you know nothing about plants or if you know everything about plants, First Image Nursery is hands down the place to go. I fall into both categories. I am a highly experienced gardener, creating and maintaining dozens of exquisite beds on both of my homes in CT. My inexperience was trying to find plants for my son's Los Angeles patio. I am unfamiliar with local plants, which can withstand the climate and meet my personal level of approval. I read every review I could find on garden centers in the LA area. Some people are clueless as to what plants are needed, so nursery owners can take advantage of them. Other reviewers thankfully knew their stuff and directed me away from the over priced, obnoxious nurseries. I finally found First Image and decided to pay them an initial sniff. Gold! I struck gold. I was immediately greeted by Imelda. If you know plants or do not know plants, you will be well served to place your trust in this woman. Explain what you need / want . She will listen , ask questions to determine more information and then BINGO! On Imelda will go, leading one to wonderful possibilities. She is kind and thoughtful so if you feel like a fish out of water, she will guide you to the correct plant for your purpose. While we were there, a home owner was buying plants to help stage his house as it just went up for sale. It was utterly refreshing to see the vast variety of plants First image had to offer, every size and shape. This is important because a city nursery does have restrictions. First Image manages to have a large piece of property which allows one to select the perfect specimen. They offer a delivery service so you do not have to break you back trying to get large plants to your home. Do yourself a favor and before you buy anywhere else, do check out First Image.
