Stopped in one afternoon after signing papers at citizens bank up the street. Cassie was awesome and should be tipped well above 20%. Her friendliness and knowledge are worth the price of admission ( although there is no admission change). Food is awesome and Jimmy and Tommy are great in the kitchen. went on mothers day, surprisingly slow for a later afternoon meal. But been bye the place several times an had taken the opportunity to try it out.. so its nice out its close prices are ok, can walk across the street and get an ice cream after.... check all the boxes, mothers day success. Service a little slow but super friendly and hey I wasn't in a hurry. I went with the garlic steak sandwich... good must like garlic... it says shaved steak but it more like tiny steak tips PLUS. My mother got the baked fish sandwich.. very fresh, lite on the breading. I saw in one of the other posts a comment about the rolls... and I agree a better roll would defiantly step up their sandwich game. good fires... wish I knew they had tots... Next time. And whatever sat radio they had on was a hit with my mother... it was like a barry white channel I think the waitress said... made her meal so all good by me. read more

The bartender we had was kind of clueless. We asked for a blacksmith and I had to explain it plus I asked for a founders but was given a blacksmith which I drank but wasn't what I asked for. I have visited the First House Pub a couple of times so now I think I can give a pretty good review on this place. First off, my husband and I sat at the bar for lunch. I ordered the fish sandwich which came with a side and a cup of chowder. My husband ordered the turkey club which came with a side of fries. The turkey club was the largest turkey club that I have ever seen and it was quite tasty. The fries were good as well. My fish sandwich was very tasty except the fish portion was a bit on the small side, but they use real fish, not frozen. However, the clam chowder needed some work since there were only a few pieces of clams and the flavor was lacking. I checked with my husband on this one since he worked in seafood restaurants during the summers in Rockport. He agreed that the chowder was lacking in flavor. The bartender was attentive so the service was fine. I saw what other people had ordered and the Greek salad with steak tips seemed like quite the salad. The salad was completely covered with steak tips so the portion size was quite ample. The entrees were over 20.00 except for the sandwiches, but they come with 2 sides. I would like to try the sea scallops next time since they are a favorite of mine. Try this place since it has good pub grub. read more

So I'm sort of torn on this place. I've been a couple times. Good beer selection and very friendly staff. Great spot to go grab a few beers and sit at the bar and watch a game. However, we took the kids another time and had pizza and it was borderline barely edible. The crust was badly burned (almost black) and had no real taste. Someone in our party got a salad and was equally underwhelmed. Perhaps the food will improve with time. Thumbs up for beer, Thumbs down for food. Cool atmosphere and very nice staff. read more

My friends and I came here for a late dinner and last time we came it was pretty good so we came again. Our waitress came and asked if we were ready to order I asked for a few minutes and she didn't show up. So another woman came over and took our order. A couple sat down after us and got their appetizers before us. I was mad but it was fine. Then they got their full course meals BEFORE us. Then I got offended. Just because we are teenagers doesn't mean we shouldn't be treated the same as any other people that walk in here. The food is good here but I am truly disappointed and not happy with how we were treated... With all my stops at Starbucks and parking in front of this place in the morning, one evening I decided to finally try it out. It was much busier than I expected but we were immediately greeted by the nicest hostess who cleared a table for us since the ones available were not in the greatest of locations. The waitress came over and was very friendly explaining all of the deals ($5 wings, potato skins, and sliders on Wednesdays). My friend and I ordered the potato skins, a grilled chicken sandwich, and baked haddock. The potato skins were a bit burnt and lacking an adequate amount of cheese to satisfy my craving but I want to try a night that doesn't have them as a special when they are cranking them out. The sandwich was enormous and well received. The haddock was perfectly baked with just the right amount of breadcrumbs which I was comparing to my normal beachside restaurant for seafood so it got a bit thumbs up. The sweet potato fries were average and the broccoli was your basic boiled broccoli. It was a bit noisy but a good meal and a comfortable atmosphere for friends to gather. less than a dozen people in there last night. I'm with an important client sitting on a high seat near the entrance and a short heavy woman working there kicks me out of my seat saying a table next to mine is reserved for a party of 6 at 6pm. at the time she said this it was 530 and hardly anyone there as we were running up a tab. guess what - now you can seat 8 people- so we left. that's the 2nd time she's done this - she booted my friends out of that section about 6 months ago despite the fact that we were running up a big tab. I really don't think I will be returning. in all fairness - the other staff was friendly and apologetic for that older heavy women's actions. none the less - we still left read more

Great first time experience. Our drinks were top notch and strong. I enjoyed the beer flight and the options he choose for me. Can't beat a $5 burger with sides! Served on Mondays after 5 pm. Burger was thick and juicy and made to order. All in all a solid good time. read more

The servers were friendly so I feel somewhat bad giving one star, but MAN the food was bad. I can't believe we went from Stonehearth Pizza to this. Such a wasted opportunity. Water: tasted like chlorine. Side salad: lettuce from a bag, thick hacked onion pieces, plain oil. Pizza: soggy crust, chewy cheese, grease grease grease, cafeteria appearance. Chicken sandwich: requested onions and mushrooms, came with neither, dry chicken strips. Fish tacos: they were set down in front of me and the entire table said "ew" and scrunched their faces at the same time, due to the overpowering beyond-fishy fumes. I surely saved myself illness by removing the fish. I ate the Stop & Shop tortillas and coleslaw and pico de gallo, and the "vegetable of the day" was a zucchini, squash and carrot medley straight out of a frozen bag. I pointed and laughed at it. I'm giving it one star because the hostess at the door was friendly. I can't rate the food because we never ate. The bartenders need to be retrained. We walked in on Sunday afternoon at 4:15. The place was pretty quiet. It was our first time there and we sat at the bar. The bartender came over pretty quick asked us if we knew what we wanted. I ordered a Guinness. She promptly turned away to pour my beer. She started it and stopped it half way. Ok no problem. Then she walked away. She Came back 3-4 minutes later. Asked my husband if he new what he wanted. He ordered a Guinness. She pushed my half poured Guinness to the side. She half poured my husbands and walked away again. We sat there waiting as our two half poured Guinness just sat there at least another 3-4 minutes while they both lost their head. I'm not sure what the problem was. We could see her on the other side of the bar talking. Then for the first time ever, we got up and walked out. It's to bad. We never even got to see the menu. Turkey burger was a skinny, frozen half cooked patty with soggy fries and don't get onion soup or portobello sandwich, just don't. Omg, maybe it was an anomaly but I just had the worst restaurant experience of my life! Ordered my meal as soon as I sat down. It came out 1 hour and 15 minutes later!! I can't exaggerate this enough, I was going to leave but at this point, I had to see how long it would take. When it came (it was a chicken Parmesan calzone). It was inedible, rock hard crust with tiny little pieces of burnt chicken. They're brand new and the Watertown location isn't this bad so maybe it's just because they're still working the bugs out. Came here for a nice lunch with my parents. They wouldn't serve me a beer because I have an out of state ID. It's not my fault they can't verify out of state IDs because they're too cheap to get a system that can verify them. I don't even look under 21! read more

Second time there. First time had steak and bleu salad and it was awesome - the best steak tip salad ever. Today had bad experience ordered same thing and steak was overcooked. Sent it back and only half the pieces came back rare. First time I have ever had a send back not come back right at any restaurant. We went to FHP this past Saturday evening for drinks and appetizers before meeting friends at another restaurant in the area. The place was hopping when we walked into the front room at 7PM, which had many young families. We found a high top table near the bar in the room to the right, which had older couples and a very cosy feel to it. We had beers and cocktails and two orders of fabulous wings. All the diners around us cleaned their plates and we wished we had made plans to just stay put. The bar tender, Liz?, was cheerful and efficient, drawing lots of beers and pouring wine and mixing cocktails. If I lived in Winchester instead of NYC, this would be a regular place in our rotation. read more

The food was unmemorable. I had lunch there, but mistakenly left my credit card with the bill. They confirmed they had it when I called the next day, but when I arrived, the bartender spread all the orphaned credit cards out on the bar in front of other customers but didn't find my card. The hostess then yelled at me for appearing frustrated and told me how much effort she made to find my card (it was a 30 second phone call and a quick search above a cash register). A whole hour of driving and I still had to cancel my card because First House Pub effectively stole it (who knows how many people they showed it to first). read more

This place has a nice long serpentine bar with a good selection of draft beers. The wines are average, nothing high end. I would definitely recommend this as a bar to have drinks at. I do not recommend the food. We had lunch there today. The hamburger, which was ordered medium, came well done. The turkey club was really small. The bacon in both was all fat. Nothing tasted good and left a feeling of indigestion. Also, there were very few people in the restaurant for lunch and it took 1/2 hour for the food to come. Since the first time I ventured into the First House Pub...after finding them on Yelp, I have been nothing but pleased with the experience. There have been up and downs with the food, but you can get that with any restaurant. The cajun chicken sandwich is one of my favs and one of the best I have had. The waitstaff and bartenders have always been exceptionally friendly and engage in conversation. The draft beer selection is great, to the point I joined the Mug Club. If you are in the Winchester area, give the First House a try. If your not hungry, grab a draft beer and some "salsa guac and chips." read more

Beer list is mediocre, could certainly use more local beer and some more variety. Food was not much better, I had an avocado grilled cheese which was disappointing. Fries where those weird coated twice fried things that you get at an Applebees. All aspects could use improvement, if so this could be a great and much needed hangout in Winchester Center. read more

I've been here three times now. The first time was the week it opened. Things were a little crazy and a bit unorganized that night, but I gave it a pass for the first week jitters and decided to come back and try it again. Since then, I've been here twice. Both times have been very good. The drinks are excellent, not too pricey and the food is good. It's a pub, not a 4 star restaurant. I'll definitely return and love the fact that there is now some competition in town for the Black Horse Tavern (which I also like, but is often crowded and a little pricey). read more
