Great location and variety of food. Bluegrass music was fun, just wish they had speakers so we could hear them better. We'll be back

Hummus Mediterranean food

Discover more reviews of mine on my site!…read morewww.johnpalmerpayne.com Sometimes, the most memorable meals happen in the most unexpected places. Tucked away in the Southwest Ranchers Farmers Market in Davie, Florida, there's a food truck that goes by a simple name--Hummus--but don't let that simplicity fool you. This place serves up flavor, soul, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger long after your plate is clean. We stopped by one evening before making our way down to the Hard Rock Casino and split the chicken platter, and let me just say--this is how you do Mediterranean street food. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and grilled to juicy, smoky perfection. The hummus? Honestly, I could have eaten a bowl of just that and been happy. Creamy, velvety, tangy, and rich with tahini--it was the kind of hummus that makes you remember that the truck is called Hummus for a reason. But it didn't stop there. The platter came with fresh, crisp salad tossed in just enough dressing to wake it up, plus fluffy, warm pita that practically begged to be dragged through the hummus. Every bite was layered with freshness and depth--the kind of meal that feels comforting and exciting all at once. Our next visit didn't disappoint us either as we enjoyed savory and buttery steak, smooth and creamy hummus, and spiced rice... yum! What makes Hummus special, though, is the setting. The twinkling string lights, warm night air, and the soft hum of conversation around us made it super romantic, with it being one of our first dates and all. The energy is relaxed, yet alive--like you stumbled onto a secret neighborhood hangout. Whether you're grabbing dinner with friends, looking for a late-night bite, or just want something that tastes real and made with care, Hummus in Davie delivers. It's the kind of spot that reminds you good food doesn't need a white tablecloth or a fancy address--just passion, great ingredients, and maybe a little bit of light strung overhead. Last thing! You'll want to grab the green sauce when you go. I don't know what it is, but it is absolutely delicious!

Mighty good food but it does have some drawbacks. As of this writing there are no bathrooms at…read moreleast not afterhours, so make sure you don't need one. It's located outside but covered so you can range from hot to wet to cold and everything in between. Prices are very reasonable especially for the platters and I found the food portion to be generous. There is no paved road at this place, so you may have water, mud, etc. greeting you when you get in, or not. When I went there was an issue with the payment system, you may want to bring cash as a back up. They do a really nice take out business and they are open late. Because it's a food truck, there is no inside dining, just stating it again. They offer sandwiches, bowls, platters and an assortment of drinks. If you like this type of cuisine and don't mind a food truck, then this will work for you. If you like something less adventurous then you may want to skip it.

***FOOD TRUCKS*** It…read morewas brutal heat even at 7pm but we love the food truck event at Volunteer Park in Plantation so we went anyways. We saw the big Jimmy Dean's food truck and noticed it had a bbq pulled pork sandwich on the menu. Xavier and Chef Jimmy Dean were working behind the grill in the truck and were super friendly guys. Jimmy gave me a small sample of the pulled pork per my request and it was crazy moist and tender. Now I knew I wanted the BBQ pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw for $14.00. The food was fresh and ready within ten minues. We sat at a little table next to the food truck and dug into the pork sandwich - holy moly it was great. The coleslaw was coleslaw, but wow that sandwich with bbq sauce drizzle wedged between a soft bun was fabulous. They also have BBQ Angus Brisket and Mac & Cheese for $18.00. Definately coming back for the pulled pork sandwich next Wednesday. Jimmy Dean also has a respectable catering service.

Saw something on their menu that I couldn't get out of my mind. The brisket Philly. The Philly was loaded with tender Smokey brisket chunks, gooey cheese, red peppers and onions. Delish and hearty. The food truck is big (like a double size), black with yellow writing on it. The service was welcoming and friendly. Quick turn around on the food order. Fresh hot and yum. Didn't care for their side item selection. Found it strange they didn't offer fries. Got the mashed potatoes. Good but nothing special. Would have preferred fries with my sammie. They offer high end menu items with prices to match but based on the brisket Philly total worth it. Will definitely revisit them to try another menu item or two.
