Terrible. Most unhelpful place when people are trying to actually get into a better space financially. They talk a big game, but the bottom line is they will not help you unless you are already financially stable. Don't waste the hit on your credit report falling for their bait and switch tactics. Together credit union is so much better. read more

What kind of bank goes dark over a span of several days giving customers no access their accounts online, balances, closes entire branches for a system upgrade? I understand this was explained to customers ahead of time, however I was not informed about the $500 daily ATM limit or $2,500 daily transaction limit being imposed. This was a huge inconvenience when the banks were closed and no one was available to speak to for help. To top it off, digital banking was supposed to be back online today. I still have no access to my account via the website or app. I'm going to close my account do business elsewhere. What a joke. read more

Shutting down the entire online banking for 5 straight days is unacceptable. I work in IT and shutting down everything like that is a joke. We set up a development server that gets promoted to production when it's ready. You need to get better Infrastructure techs. Not high school drop outs that got a cert. read more

Another day, another struggle attempting to obtain auto loan pay-off quote information from this lender.

We have had them a few years Now and they are A1 in our View the Customer service is great! Theres several Branches to go to and always going Above Customer Service.I know they watch over our Accounts and let us know if there is a Problem.!Thanks for taking care of us! read more

I've been with this bank for 30 years. They have always treated me right and since they are a credit union dont have the fees other for profit banks do. I noticed the 1 star reviews about having their vehicles repossessed. Pay your bills and that won't happen. Don't pay your bills and any bank will repossess. One reviewer claims she made her payments. No she didn't. By the way those reviews are filled out I'm guessing they have trouble paying a lot of their bills. I missed a payment one time and they called me to check on me. They were great and let me explain my mistake. read more

I switched to FCCU 2 years ago and it has been a good decision. Since then I have opened checking, MMA and IRA accounts. Hubby has also used them for loans. Service is efficient and friendly. I prefer drive through or ATM, rarely go inside. I love that the drive through is open early and late (7:30-6pm) so I can always swing by before or after work. I also love the convenience of branches inside of Wal-Mart stores that have extended hours including Sundays! I use the online banking and like it. They have upgraded it since I opened the accounts and they did make one change I don't like.... but I also know even with that change it's better than other banks I've had. Easy to use for sure! I also use the mobile app and find it to be easy to navigate. The only thing I don't like is that the employee here are secluded in their knowledge. They only know one "area" of information and have to transfer you around to other departments for any information not in their "area". It's annoying. read more

I would never do business with this institution again; they screwed me over. Had a car loan with them, the car was totaled and I worked with the insurance to get the loan paid. They reported missing payments to the credit bureau even though they confirmed that they received payments from the insurance and gap insurance companies for the totaled car. As a result my credit score dropped by 60 points. What a shame! Closing all my accounts with this garbage institution where I was provided conflicting information every time I called them. read more

They deserve negative stars. I am the treasurer for an organization. It has been MONTHS. I still don't have online access, a card, or anything. The only thing this "Credit Union" has given me is a hard time. I have had to go to the branch, email different employees, wait on hold for countless hours, AND fill out multiple forms. Staff are extremely inconsistent with the information they provide. I need service! I should send this "Credit Union" an invoice for my time. read more

Ridiculous that after being a member for 19 years and never deposited a fraudulent check that they put a 10 Day hold on a local CASHIERS check. I understand fraud is on the rise but when it's a LOCAL cashiers check, you've done business with them for that long, AND the check comes from a trusted family member, and it's also less than $10k...sorry but that's just not acceptable. They released a portion of it to me as a courtesy but still. Pretty lame way to take care of a long term member that's referred friends and family that have done deposit and loan business with them. read more

On Tuesday 3/26/24 I woke up to my vehicle gone from my driveway. The police told me to contact my financial company. When I did, I was explained why it was repossessed. Even though I do not agree with how this was handled, I realized it wasn't worth talking about. It was a done deal so at that point I just needed to know how to resolve it. I was given 2 options which are almost impossible to achieve. 1) I pay off the whole loan of the vehicle 2) refinance with another company. Now that I have the repo on my record it is impossible for me to do anything. I was lucky I was able to get the loan amount and pay it off which is what I did Thursday afternoon. First Community then contacted Countrywide Asset & Auto Recovery to tell them they could release my vehicle to me. Of course Countrywide's hours are 10-3 which makes it difficult for people to get up there but again this is beside the point. I am thinking I am in the clear until I get to Countrywide (the company First Community uses to repossess vehicles) and the amount of damage to the rear driver side of my car is unreal and let's not even talk about the damage underneath. These tow people really messed up my car. Since I saw this damage, I was directed to talk to the manager. He comes out smug as all get out and immediately tells me that the damage was there prior to them taking my car. This is the company FCCU hires to do this and when I called FCCU collections the guy I spoke to hung up on me so I called back and left a message for the manager. This was last Friday 3/29/24 and have yet to hear from him and it's 4/3/24. Unprofessional! read more

For the last two days I've tried to make my first car payment online. For some reason I'm not able to validate the 2 microtransaction sent to my external account. The validate option isn't there like the help page shows. I tried to transfer and make loan payment from external account numerous times with no success. I ended up paying with my debit card plus the $6.95fee to avoid being late. I pay all my bills online and have never encountered so much confusion and aggravation. After reading other reviews its as if First Community is setting people up for failure. Also the two people I talked to over the phone were no help at all. read more

Hurricane Ian had just hit and I needed access to funds. I am in Florida and my husband was in St. Louis. I had completed a mobile deposit on the 24th and it hadn't posted yet so I called them on 10/01 to see why it hadn't posted. I was told to call back in two days as the check was flagged for fraud and nobody was in from that department. The check is perfectly fine and it's from American Funds! I have been banking with them for 11 years!!! They didn't apologize for the inconvenience at all. Mary apologized that I felt their customer service was inadequate. They truly didn't care at all. Pathetic customer service! read more

Check deposit camera is always down on the app. Interest rates are pretty good for brick and mortar place but not happy with lousy check deposit application read more

I am not typically a complainer but this is by FAR the worst banking or loan banking service I have EVER used. App, online, or by phone are all TERRIBLE processes. Asking for loan suffixes that cant be accessed because the app that is supposedly easy to use continually asks you to change your password only to NEVER send the temporary password to the phone number you have listed. Which leaves no other option but to go into the bank itself or mail the bill in. Are we in the 70's or 80's? Someone, anyone, please care about the service you provide your customers and fix your multiple broken processes. Com'on man...this is bad for real!! read more

I strongly recommend you keep looking. They were great when they were smaller but not so much now that they have grown. Couldn't obtain a small equity loan as a retiree even though I own my home free and clear. Wasn't asking for much and have a credit rating in the 800's...I've also been a customer for many years and I'm worth way more than my home is... I won't be a customer after this week... Not the first time I've had service problems. I wish I would have put my time money and loan history with another credit union :( read more

This is the worst credit union ever. If i could give it 0 stars, i would. My mother passed away over 1 year ago and while I've tried to take care of all of her accounts, this credit union has done everything that I have been told they aren't able to do. I live in Chicago area and despite being named the beneficiary and affiant of her account, they say I have to appear in person to get an printout of her itemized account at any branch. So I come in on Saturday morning and no one is available to help me because all the managers are off. So aggravating!!!! read more

Do not recommend. My wife passed and I told them I was going to be 30 days late due to funeral expenses. They relentlessly called my phone EVERY day for a month until I was caught back up. Tell the dealer or salesman you do not want to go through first community read more

These banks have the strangest business hours and even stranger policy's. Want to deposit your check for rent on a Saturday? If you don't get there by noon, you're out of luck! They are closed! And if you turn the check into the ATM expect at LEAST a week to have access to it. The app always displays incorrect I formation. You can only spend so much money in a day. They don't notify you if there's a problem with your account until you go to buy something and you can't use your card. The 24 hour service is a joke. The only good thing about this place is their employees are very kind and empathic. They are there to help, but are held back by their company's practices. I am no longer using this bank. read more

THESE ARE THE WORST! I became a victim of a scam, I thought they would be at least semi-compassionate. NO! They froze my account, tagged it with fraudulent activity, and then closed my account. Their response: We are protecting you. These are the most uncaring of people! I found a better Credit Union with better interest rates and better rates on loans. PEOPLE SHOP AROUND!!!! Now I learn that they have notified someone else, so much for customer confidentiality! read more

Its pretty hard today to find anything working well enough to give 5 stars. I went thru the pain about 2 years ago to rejoin First Community Credit union and I could not be happier. Efficient loan processing, great service at my home base of Oakville from Brittany and Jamie. Not easily pleased these days but nothing but good to say about First Community. read more

Opened checking and savings account with First Community and within the first 60 days debit card was hacked. I put the debit card in my home safe and never used the account for withdrawal and deposit. First Community allowed the card to be overdrawn snd then closed the account in which I was never notified of account being overdrawn, My biggest concern is my card was some how compromised and I was never notified. I never used the card but put it in my safe when I got home and when it was brought to customer service attention rep was rude and said was I sure I did not give my information to someone. Another explanation was someone could have guessed by debit card number. read more

I've been an account holder and have had loans with FCCU for years. The last loan I took out with them was on a zero turn mower that they required proof of insurance on. I sent the insurance information in on at least 4 separate occasions, spent HOURS on the phone (be prepared for the "you have 35 callers ahead of you" bs), and was disconnected more times than I care to remember without the courtesy of a single callback. I was told that they can only receive inbound calls and are unable to make outbound calls. A terrible customer service model considering the obvious disconnection potential. I'm currently fighting the $1500 insurance charges that FCCU decided to tack onto my loan even though I provided the required documentation multiple times. The worst telephone customer service I've ever had from a financial institution. They need to overhaul their model. read more

I have had several loans with 1st Community in the past. Was an easy process very happy with everything. Recently took out a HELOC based on our passed experience, what a mistake! I won't go into specifics, but there were numerous problems. Turned into a nightmare! Associates are rude and very unprofessional. Turned in documents that were misplaced or lost. I will never do business with them again. Mike Mayberry read more

This is a RARE occurrence for me to write a negative review. My son, age 25, worked with the Assistant Manager of the Chesterfield branch to get an auto loan using their "first time borrower" program. On Friday they ran his credit, discussed his income, and gave him a pre-approval letter with the stipulation that he bring his 2016 tax return along when he comes to get his loan finalized. He returned (with me) to finalize after making a deposit on the car. The terms were completely different when we returned. Even though the personal banker worked with management to get him pre-approved. They would not approve with that tax return without a co-signer. There was no difference in the income or source. His credit is in the high 600's. Bate and switch. Don't bother. read more

Decent Service Weird Policies. FCUU has a weird policy about signing for deposits even if there's no cash back. They have very strange requirements for paperwork needed on loan applications and make you wait a long time for deposited checks to clear. The worst part is their online baking website. It is ridiculously useless not user friendly. The positive is that as a member you own part of the union and have no monthly account fees and always receive monthly dividends. Their interest rates are some of the best as well. read more

There app is terrible, and their customer service is god awful. Sent them a declaration by email from my insurance, got no response if it worked or not. And now they magically raised my monthly payment to 100 dollars more. would not recommend this bank or loan service to anyone. read more

My family has had multiple bad experiences with this credit union. My parents left first and I think I am not far behind. My parents applied for a boat loan online to be turned down because there is a stipulation, that is not available to the public, that you also must own a trailer. They park it in a marina, it never leaves the water. Why would they own a trailer? But, first community would not budge. They were not upfront about this stipulation and it is an unreasonable one. I have never overdrafted in the 10 years I have been with them. Not once. I deposited a check. 2 days later their TERRIBLE online banking system told me it was available, so I schedule a bill payment 1 day later. Count them, that's 3 days. They told me checks aren't available for 3-5 days from the date of deposit. I took screenshots and sent them showing them my AVAILABLE amount and they still would not refund my overdraft fee. Good-Bye. I am shopping for a new bank. read more

wow! they don't take either customer or service seriously here. I've had 2 auto loans from FCCU and called for my 3rd. They were efficient enough in the past but never friendly but these last 3 calls I've had regarding the new loan have been declining in quality, and I finally had to tell them to forget the pre-approved loan. I'll take my business elsewhere. This last "loan officer" literally acted as though I was bothering her. I called to make sure that they received the required VIN and odometer reading. She kept saying she didn't have the information. I asked her to check the date of the last email she received from me at which she literally huffed and puffed. Told me that I should have checked to make sure that the email was received by calling 10 minutes after sending the email. Really? This is 2020, right? I'm on hold for more than 30 minutes each time I call. How many times do I need to do this? She tried to hang up on me several times before I can ask any questions. I don't think I've ever had anyone like this on the phone. Again, others at FCCU are rarely polite but not this down-right RUDE!!!! Is it so wrong to expect some service? Look at all these negative reviews. So much for trying to support local businesses! read more

UPDATE: still the worst. Support told me their bank website and app only shows the last 6 months of transactions! Accountant wanted bank records from 2 years ago. Website won't show them to me. Contacted support and you can see the attached photo of what they told me. If I want to view transactions from 2 years ago it's $18 a year. OLD: Worse banking experience I've ever had. After pulling credit and checking income I was approved for refinancing an existing loan. The loan officer, Julia, must have been new, because she kept making mistakes and would leave the office to ask other people what to do. I went to first community 6 separate times to get this loan done because she would leave me alone for long periods of time. One time she didn't know how to get the loan number for my existing loan, so she gave me the phone number to my existing lender and left. I called them and after several minutes spoke with someone and got all the information. I sat and waited for her to return. Finally another loan officer came and told me she was still working on it. I told her I already called and got the information and she could come back and do the loan. After waiting another ten minutes she never returned. I finally left. When I went back I was told I was denied! How can I be denied for a loan I already have? Six wasted trips! read more

Do not make the same mistake we did. Please do yourself a favor and close your accounts immediately. If you are looking for a credit union look elsewhere. Very unprofessional. I have had no negative occurrences here as of yet. This is the local headquarters building of the first community credit union. I may open an account here for my daughter. I started the refi process on my home on June 5, 2015. It is now September 18, 2015 and I have been through two loan processors and two mortgage clerks. I have had to send my taxes for the past three years three times. The unfortunate thing is - I am stuck. A $350 appraisal has already been done at the end of July and if I go elsewhere I would have to pay for another one. This is so unbelievable; so unprofessional and I cannot believe how this organization stays in business. read more

Absolutely love FCCU! I had always heard great things about them before, but once I got approved for my first car through them, I got to experience everything myself. I have now gotten three different car loans, a credit card and a personal loan through them. Every time I'm visiting one of the branches, I receive nothing but awesome customer service. They have an awesome mobile app that is super user friendly and keeps me up to date on all my transactions and loans. I will never bank anywhere else! My daughter has a loan through this credit union. She provided hard copies, email copies and faxed copies of her proof of insurance over the course of 7 months to the department that handles insurance on financed property. They ignored what they were given and charged her a $983 premium to her loan and raised her payment. Then, after ONE PHONE CALL FROM ME WITH A POLICY NUMBER, IT ALL WENT AWAY!!! They NEVER EVER gave her the option of a phone call! They took someone who was young and trying to find her own way and humiliated and degraded her. On top of that, they refused to give her back the money for the extra payments she made to cover this bogus policy! She will be refinancing this loan to get away from these incredibly disrespectful, so called professionals. read more

During week home on vacation, I went to deposit money from an account outside of First Community and when I wanted to use my debit card to purchase an extra night at the hotel, it was declined. Fast forward 4 days to when I checked my account online, there was only 300. In the account history, there had been a -96 balance that was pulled out of the 400. I previously had overdraft fees refunded, but the staff at the branch couldn't help me because MY ACCOUNT HAD BEEN CLOSED! Asked why I hadn't been contacted and being that I had recently moved, all my mail has been forwarded to the new address and will be for the next 3 months. My phone number is on file so if the letters were returned to sender, they would still have a way to contact me. I have been receiving my account statements since the day I had my mail forwarded. I have since fixed my paypal settings and withdrawn my remaining cash from First Community. read more
