My company made direct deposit electronically to my checking account on Tuesday morning. Although FC sent me an automatic email notifying me of payment on Tuesday afternoon no deposit showed in my account. When I called customer service they had no record, said they would research and call me back, never called back. I called them back they said it could take 24-48 hours to research, I told them unacceptable. It's Wednesday night still no deposit in my account, I have documentation from my company proving the direct deposit. If deposit doesn't show up on Thursday I have no choice but to report them to the NC Banking Commission. read more

I opened a bank account with First Citizens at the ripe old age of 15. Got a beach towel for doing so. Lasted me for the better part of ten years, until it finally died of overwashing with too much bleach. I still have my account with First Citizens, nearly 20 years later. Most of my interactions with other banks are neutral to negative. And it's not because I have bad credit, or frequently overdraw my account. It's because most banks try to get in the way of their customers. They attempt to extract as much money as possible, while doing as little as possible, all while making you wait for reasons they can't or won't explain. But First Citizens has never been that way for me. I do things most people don't do regularly: Cashier's checks, notarization, wiring funds, equipment leasing agreements. In nearly 20 years, I've never had someone tell me I'll have to wait a minute. Never had someone say "I'm sorry. You'll have to wait for my manager." Every teller, high or low, knows what to do, and where to point. That may be because First Citizens tries to keep turnover low. In the Johnston County area, most of the tellers I deal with have been with bank over five years, some even longer. That's comforting in an age where every bank seems to be pursuing goals outside of traditional banking functions. First Citizens is an old-school bank with a forward-looking agenda. Smart ATMs let me deposit checks with my ATM card, or just take a shot of a check on my iPhone for a deposit. While that may be passe for a bank the size of Wells Fargo or BofA, it's not normal for a Regional bank. I sincerely appreciate the effort. They've won multiple awards for customer service, both Regionally and Nationally. And they deserve every one of them. read more

I have been a customer since 1993 and the bank has not evolved. The online technology and phone system are from the 1980's and the customer service department only knows how to say I am sorry. If you travel this is NOT the bank for you. I miss the old FC. read more

This used to be the most customer service oriented bank in the area. Customer service has become a thing of the past. They charge fees for external transfers, are not compatible with any money transfer programs such as Zelle. I tried to set up a savings account for my teenager and was told they couldn't help me because my child is under 18? Most recently I had fraudulent use of my debit card out of state. I reported this the day it showed on my online banking, and it is taking weeks to get that money credited back to me. In the past, they would credit immediately pending their investigation. Why is their technology so far behind? Most banks have a system to alert customers of questionable charges as they happen. This bank is relying on their reputation of the past and needs a major overhaul. read more

I acquired a mortgage/loan from First Citizens and when I went to pay the bill I could not find any website to do so. After spending a while navigating their phone system I spoke with someone who informed me there was no option of paying online- I could either pay via phone or open an account with them and use their bill-pay service. Seriously, in 2015 what organization doesn't have an online payment processing capability? I have not payed a bill by any other means in over a decade. read more

I have been banking with First Citizens for 20 years. they have always been friendly, helpful and eager to please. With direct deposit, I don't have a need to visit the branch like I used to. My checking is free and my account always balances. No problems here. read more

I just went through the drive thru window and a lady named Chelsea or Chasity (I can't remember,I'm sorry) helped me. She was so helpful, polite, and professional. After I left she called me to tell me one more detail about the question that I asked her. She was so nice. So far, I have been to this bank a handful of times and everyone has been so helpful and polite and always eager to help. Thank you for all you do. read more

My house was broken into and just to make sure no checks were stolen I wanted to change my account number just to be on the safe side. I called and put a freeze on my account and was told there would no problem with doing this they would just transfer the funds and my old bank card would work on the transferred account it would all take just a few minutes. All was good until I went to the bank to change my account over. To my surprise I could not keep the same type of account I had because I had been banking with the company so long I had been grandfathered into my checking account rules and to change. My account rules would have to go by a new account rules. What a way to reward a customer! Downgrade my account because I wanted to protect myself and the bank. Well the outcome of all of this is I can change banks and get more perks or I can stay with a bank I have been dealing with for many years who will not work with me. Easier enough I am done with First Citizens Bank. read more

After being a client for over 15 years, both business and personal, and having closing out all of my accounts with this branch, moving my last 2 to the Wendell branch, I would rather put my money in the mattress than to have any dealings with this branch.
