Was looking for an open Chinese place on a Monday that delivered to the Oakbrook offices. First chop suey was featured on Uber eats so figured I'd give it a try and now I'm hooked. The beef is so tender it is addicting! It is velvety soft and melts in your mouth. The egg foo young gravy is a little darker compared to some places but it is very tasty. 1st Chop Suey is good food for the price. Ask them about coupon promotions. You can also find them online or on their takeout menus. Lunch specials also look good. Make sure to bring your id if you order ahead or use a credit card. I like that they do this since fraud is so prevalent these days. Ordered the shrimp chop Suey, shrimp fried rice, beef and gravy over rice and Lemon tea. Everything was tasty, delicious and steaming hot just the way it's supposed to be. Servings for the small size are plentiful and enough for two meals. Lots of shrimp and vegetables in the chop suey, very flavorful. Great shrimp fried rice with plenty of medium sized shrimp. The beef and gravy was good. I love their lemon tea, just add plenty of ice and you've got yourself a good drink, nice and strong. Sort of like an Arnold Palmer but fresh. The service was quick, the cashier was friendly and the ambiance is your typical fast food business. Plenty of choices to choose from they have an extensive menu. I didn't order the fruit smoothie this time but they are good and tasty. I would recommend and don't understand why the reviews are not better because the food is good and plentiful. Go try it out... STAY AWAY!!!! My grandparents have lived in Bellwood for over 50 years. I remember them ordering food from this place when I was a teenager and in my early 20s. I don't know who took over this restaurant in the last five years but the food is deplorable. The new owners have absolutely no regard for customer service or getting orders correct. They have no consideration for making sure that they do not burn their meals up. Use old grease and gravy, serve food they cooked 8 hours ago, etc. The place is very rundown and needs a renovation. On our latest order because we had family in town that wanted Chinese food and they accidentally ordered from this place, I told them not to. They got a large shrimp, fried rice and a large orange chicken. Unfortunately it came out to $35 and they did not even get a complementary egg roll with their meal. They barely gave any condiments either. Nevertheless, we are still speculating that the orange chicken was not meat from anything we have ever eaten and called a chicken. I used to live near First Chop Suey years ago and the food was awesome. I was in the area today and and ordered the chicken wings and beef fried rice. Do NOT eat from the First Chop Suey in Bellwood! Today, I discovered a very unusual wooden like texture in my shrimp fried rice. I pulled the 2 pieces out my mouth and wrapped it in a napkin. I went back to the restaurant and spoke with the manager. I showed him the pieces and described the texture (as he did not touch it) and he goes in a box and pulls out a dirty brush that's used to clean the grill and asks me "Does this look like what's in your rice?" I respond, that's exactly what's in the rice! A dirty brush with raggedy wooden bristles. He even explains that its used to clean the grill! I wanted to throw up in his face! How disgusting! The manager issued a refund on the rice but would not refund the chicken wings after I made it clear, the meal was completely ruined for me! In addition, I felt sick and lost my appetite! Who wouldn't? He pointed to a "no refund" sign even though he knows that the restuarant was at fault! In addition, I had to pull out shrimp peels from inside the rice! He did not apologize for the inconvenience and really tried to press the no refund policy! He was completely unapologetic and took the dirty brush and put it right back in the box which let's me know, he's going to continue using it! I would NEVER give this restaurant another dime! Most people don't know how Chinese food should taste like and also what is a reasonable price. One example, Try their MAPO tofu on their menu... They claim it's their specialty on their menu however you don't get what you see on the menu first of all. Second, they only put tofu and some weird sauce that imitates the original sauce. Third, they only put not even half portion of tofu you can buy at Asian grocery for $1. NO VEGGIES... So they are actually robbing you without pistol! I complained about it to a lady at the counter. She became very offensive and told me to read the fine printing on the menu before ordering.... She also asked me do you complain at McDonald's about their food?? So I answered, I don't have to complain at McDonald's because they at least try to make their food to look similar as possible. I'm not going back there again. I work for a school that is near this place and myself, the staff, and the students used to order from here often. I order the 10 wings and when I received them they were burnt, over cooked, and disgusting. I called and spoke with a lady. She first argued with me that the wings were ok and they were supposed to be like that. I told her I get wings all the time and they don't look or taste like the ones I got. She then continued to argue with me until she finally wanted me to bring the wings back. I explained to her that I was on lunch and that I could not do that and that they were inconveniencing me twice now. She then put me on hold to talk to her boss. she returned still yelling at me well you can bring them back after work. I told her no because that still an inconvenience to me. I then asked to speak to the manager because I was getting no where with her. The manager got on the phone and I explained to him the situation and how many times they deliver to the school. I then told him I would just like my money back because I don't appreciate being yelled at when my food is overcooked and burnt. I then told him I could still hear they lady in the background yelling and it is not appropriate and I would never want to come to his restaurant to exchange anything. I then suggested that a driver could come pick up the wings and bring me my cash back. He was reluctant but agreed. He then asked how many of the wings I ate I told him one, so he gave me back the $6.95 I paid for the wings minus the tax because I ate one wing to taste it. The delivery driver came with exactly $6.95 and I gave him the box of wings. I hope they don't try to resale them. I WOULD NEVER order from this establishment again. The staff WILL NEVER order again.(this was a group order) I also will make sure the students know about this experience as well!
