Acqua is a pretty great spot to get your hair did in Guelph. It is an Aveda concept salon as well,…read morewhich comes along with a set of ideals and products that give the place a neat feel. Haircuts come with complimentary hot towel, scalp massage, and beverage (coffee/delicious herbal tea/Hot apple cider + spiced rum if you're lucky). I'm a guy so my haircuts aren't as complicated as many of the people reading this might be getting, but i can say that even for a simple "guy" cut, the stylists I have had take great care and have great attention to detail nonetheless. I have never been disappointed. Melissa is my regular hairdresser, but I'm sure the rest of the stylists are of the same calibre. I pay upwards of $25 for my haircut + wash. If you're a student, make sure to mention it, as there's a discount for this.

She made an appointment over the phone clearly stating her budget and when she arrived she was quoted $450 for brown balayage, toner, and a cut. That is ridiculous!!! When she said she was not able to pay that, they offered to balayage her hair WITHOUT A TONER, for $300. They then went on to explain that a toner would be $80 extra and a cut $75 extra!! I would have walked out right away. That is not right in any way and you can tell they only care about the money and not about their clients. These people were about to let her walk out of there with untoned, wet hair before they offered a "complimentary" blowout. If they can let a client walk out of their salon with out toning their hair and at least drying it, that puts their reputation on the line as well and they so obviously do not care. TONER SHOULD BE INCLUDED ANY TIME HAIR IS BLEACHED. DO NOT GO HERE.

A cool place! I had my hair bleached, toned, and dyed a temporary colour. The salon is very nice…read moreand welcoming, and my student stylist was fun to talk to! The process took a couple hours (longer than I expected) and the price was higher than I thought was appropriate for the level of experience of my stylist. I loved the colour but it faded out very quickly to reveal an uneven bleaching and patchy blonde. I would be careful to specify what you want, and not let the salon "be creative" (which is what I had said). Overall a good experience, I would go back for a cut but not for another colouring.

Some people are worried about having students cut their hair but I've never had a problem and I have short hair that is easier to mess up. Service is always great. The moment you walk in they take your coat and offer you a beverage (coffee, tea, water). Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure about walking in because I've always made appointments to avoid having to wait or being turned away because they can get busy. Downside is that it is located downtown and parking is always a pain. You also never know who you're gonna get so you won't know how good or experienced they are or how long they will take. But you can always request the same student or stylist if you're comfortable with that one person. I've had a fairly new student before who needed quite a lot of guidance from a senior stylist but I was fine with it. She did a good job and the stylist was great at teaching.

Booked appointment for colour correction to remove pink semi permanent colour so I could get hair…read moreextensions, I specifically choose Valentini because I called and they said they used Olaplex. I met with Jon and I explained my issue and that I really wanted long blond hair again. He said no problem and we booked an appointment. On the day of the colour correction I was able to remove more pink at home bait my roots which were about 1" needed touched up. He started by mixing a very dark colour and a asked him what was that, he said it wouldn't stay that colour. I knew something wasn't right as I sat there with this black colour looking the shape of a bowl but as I'm not a stylist a was just hoping for the best. As we walked to was it out I asked how the black wouldn't bleed to the blonde and he informed me cold water but he'd be quick. Sadly the water turned hot and he didn't notice. I kind of let of a yelp, then he lowered it. When he finished I asked about olaplex and was told they don't use it even though a call and told yes they did, it was the only reason a decided to go there. As he blow dried my hair I was mortified, I had a lot of roots that I went to get rid of and my blonde was gone it was a grey/ green colour. I had spent years getting to a blonde and now Jon is bring everyone in to show his first balayage. I was his guinea pig. I paid and was shockedat the price but noticed the tape in extensions were included so what the heck. But I got really upset that no one acknowledged that I was visibly upset. Finally I went back in and a second appointment was bad to fix my hair. On that appointment I was told they couldn't do anything because it would damage it. I asked him why it cost $400 to dye my roots which was something I clearly didn't ask for, long story short apparently they used foils. They did not. On the last appointment he informed me that he could not get rid of the black. He would try and blend the blond up so I would have the harsh line. Four hours later he did that and my blonde was beautiful but then he washed it. It was gone and back to same. Then he brought out the extensions and I've done extensions and know that blonde a mile away. Also have black roots and all blonde extensions didn't make sense. I told me to feel them, they were soft but they had a coating on them that is a cheaper quality (look it up) I told them I hated them and I knew at this point they disliked me but I was disappointed in the customer service and quality for the price. He said they'd look gorgeous so we continued. They didn't when he cut them they were to thin, synthetic coated hair is very shiny and like human hair so you could see the difference not to mention the drastic colour difference. As he started to shoo me out the door I stopped and asked are you not going to tone this. That's when the owner spoke up and started speaking loudly you can't tone them you have to wait. You'll break the bond. You can't tone them. The lesson continued and I wanted to ask why not buy the proper colour in the first place. So as I went to leave I was talking to the reception and she said how much I owed for that day, confused I said what for? More charges for the extensions which is now the most $$$$ I've ever spent on any hair extension. Now they come over and tell me that they will tone them but I have to pay. I paid for hair, style, styling and toning. Living with the haircolour would be fine but it was the bullying and absolute disgusting behavior of those on Facebook. Fake accounts calling me horrific name on their page. And lastly the reason I'm updating this now because after six months trying to get some sort of an apology. With no response finally they send a document, just one. It's the form I filled out the first time there the made it look like I cancelled appointments knowing I told Vivian I'd never go back the after the way I was talk to. But she wrote it in a spot not where appointments shouldn't be wrote. I'm still so upset by this because I spent thousands
