Yelpers, you are wise as usual. Scott looked over our old, dusty electronics and gave us a reasonable price for what he could sell. He was friendly and courteous. NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING AT ESSEX PAWN!!!!!!!…read more Bought a mower paid $100. Used it twice and went to use it a third time and it started smoking and leaking massively. So I called at this point I thought it was past 30 days. I called around to tell them what was happening the guy on the phone told me that he didn't know what could be wrong with it because their mechanic puts oil in the mowers before they are sold. And that it wouldn't need oil for a year maybe two. Now I bought oil for it and it was checked to make sure it had oil before it was ran those two times and checked before it was started that third time each time it had oil didn't need any. That's important in a minute. He told me to bring the mower around on Monday. So I do and they have it two days. When they were called to find out what was going on with it they said it was SHOT SHOT!!!! And the mechanic said it was ran without oil. REALLY!!!!! If that is true it was ran that way by the owner that got rid of it. His solution which he said he thought was fair was to give me a $50 store credit to be used towards another $100 mower so he wanted me to SPEND MORE MONEY in his shop. Well later that night I FOUND the RECEIPT so I thought yes I might not get my money back but at least they will give me a different mower it HADNT BEEN 30 DAYS I still had a couple days before 30 days was up!!!! So today I went around receipt in hand thinking the owner would do the right thing. And he told me that he told me what he would do and that was all he was going to do. That it doesn't matter if it had been 30 days or not. DONT BUY ANYTHING THERE!!! They only have 30 days warranties on Electronics!!! He would of broke even had he done the right thing and gave me a different mower!!! They only gave about $30 for mowers so the mower I had that went up and the mower he should have replaced it with cost him $60 I paid him $100 so he still would of made money maybe not as much as he could of but at least he would of done the right thing. Two years ago when I bought my ac at a different pawn shop they told me that if it stopped working within 30 days bring it back and they would Exchange it!!! That is the kind of business you want to go to!!!!!! So always ALWAYS ask what their warranty is on the used things you are buying and if they don't have one GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! I want to give zero stars but it won't let me. I have to give one. When I told the owner that I was going to tell people all he said was to make sure I tell both sides. I feel that I have done that.

No conversation was held that it was a sale or documents required for a sale by a pawn store at the time. No proof was given that I signed a sale. Be careful w this pawn store. they made no amends to pay me. They have no proof i signed a sale slip. I took small loan to get out quickly. The cost of my jewelry was well over $800 when purchased. Ripped me off. Be careful what papers they give you. I recommend you take cell photos of all your papers.
