The practice has been reconfigured or merged 2-3 times in the last 18 months. That's neither good…read morenor bad. I've been taken care of at the Ruffin Road office for the last year. Physician's Assistant Glen is a pleasure to work with. Also, he stays on time and on schedule, which I appreciate The televisits have not gone well half the time. In fact, I've given up on them and have switched back to in-person monthly visits. The biggest improvement needs to come in telephone services. In spite of having 5-6 non physician staff there, THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE! Instead, you just get a recorded message and a promise that they'll get back to you in 24-48 hours! Sorry, but that's not good enough. The Ruffin Road office is very nice in a beautiful building with good parking. I'm giving the practice 3 stars for now. Will upgrade to 4 stars when the practice hires and trains better support staff.

I actually come here often because I have such a weak immune system. The parking garage is…read moreridiculous to go in and out because it's very tight on the turns to go up to the next level and you have to use mirrors to see if there's oncoming traffic. When you go in the room is pretty big and there's signs to direct you to which counter to go to for your scheduled person. The receptionists are nice and after you checked in and paid your co-pay or whatever, you sit and wait for your name to be called by the nurse that checks your weight, vitals, and writes down information prepping for the NP, PA, or Dr to see further what is going on. My primary doctor I was assigned to is Dr. Kesling, and I've only met him once because he is always really busy but he is such a sweet and nice old man. I've always seen nurse practitioner Paula Leibham or the physicians assistant Amy Wray. I always go to those two because they actually listen to me about my problems, how I'm feeling that day or how long my symptoms are going for. After that they sometimes ask about background history of the family if it's for serious symptoms they're looking for and since I often see them they remember my past illnesses or problems and check up to see how I am doing. After listening they give their recommendations and write prescriptions for what I have and to go fill it. Sometimes they have assistants that even call in to the pharmacy you go to, to have the prescriptions filled for you if you are unable to go. I like the fact that they call you sometimes to check on you if you have an ongoing problem. They make me feel better whenever I go to the doctors and I am a person that HATES to go. Remember to validate your parking before you leave! The only sucky thing about this place is that you have to call in and make an appointment and there is no walk-ins, but for serious problems you can go downstairs into the ER at the Sharp Hospital. But maaaaybe if you're lucky and somebody cancelled, then you can go in the same day? but fat chance that happening. So there's one of the NP's that I think does not work there anymore but if that person was, I'll edit my review... they were very unpleasant and did not listen to me about how I was feeling and my symptoms that I had and kept attacking me with "are you sure?" "i don't believe you." "oh really." yada yada. man did she ever make me so scared to even come and get cured for anything even a cold, maybe because she was having a horrible day? who knows. I later scheduled for a different person and it was Amy and it turns out to be something serious rather than something to not be looked at. Just go to Amy or Paula, soooo nice and smiley and looks like they actually love their job and helping you. I was seen on September 17, 2026 for Thursday in the late morning by this Emergency Room Dr…read more Buckley who works for Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego,CA. First, Dr. Buckley's Nurse walked over to my bed and her name is Amanda. Amanda said she's going to take my Blood Pressure. Amanda said my Blood Pressure was kind of at a higher level because I am stressed out. Then Amanda dropped off some medical supplies on this metal table nearby my bed. Amanda said that Dr. Buckley will be walking over to treat my Huge Pus Filled Blister on my left arm. I said okay. Then after Dr. Buckley made his Emergency Room visits to a few other patients before me. Dr. Buckley walked over to my room one hour later. Dr. Buckley is an older man doctor who was very professional, caring and listened to my concerns about my medical condition. Dr. Buckley examined my left hand. My left hand and my left arm was very red and has inflammation on these areas. My left arm was very red and painful. I told Dr. Buckley this house that I am currently living in now has NO AIR Conditioning. This past humidity and very Hot weather conditions has caused my sensitive skin to break out in Allergies and in other serious skin conditions. Dr. Buckley said to me that I should ask the owner of this place to install an Air Conditioning System or buy a lot of Fans to cool down these Hot Weather Conditions. I agree with Dr. Buckley. Then Dr. Buckley said he is going to remove my whole Pus Filled Blister and take off the skin at the site. I saw Dr. Buckley remove the Pus inside my Blister . Dr. Buckley then put this fluid into this large tube with that Q-Tip. Dr. Buckley said this culture will be sent out to an outside Lab. The Test Results will come back in 5 days later. Their Charge Nurse will be calling me with the Test Results soon. Dr. Buckley diagnoses was I contracted Cellulitis. Then Dr. Buckley said I will need to wash the infected skin area with Dial Antibacterial Liquid Soap. Afterwords, I need to put on a new fresh Bandage. I should only change my Bandage once a day. I said sure no problem. Dr. Buckley told me the Redness and the burning sensation I am feeling at that area has been diagnosed as Cellulitis. The Registered Nurse gave me 5 Packets of Triple Antibiotics to put on my left arm and the inflammation . I also need to cover my wound with a sterile bandage once a day. I said I can do this procedure. Dr. Buckley said also he will write up an oral medication Prescription for this Antibiotic called Keflex. This Keflex Antibiotic needs to be taken ASAP. I need to follow the directions and take this prescription medication for a 7 days time period . Dr. Buckley told me that my Cellulitis Infection will feel much better my skin will be cleared up. Dr. Buckley gave me effective quality medical care. I spent about (2 hours) in the Emergency Room Bed. I saw the Registered Nurse send me important information messages in their Sharp App. Amanda the registered nurse also was printing out my Discharge Paperwork for me to follow their instructions. And to take to home with me to my house. I asked Amanda this nurse to please give me a Free Ride from their Uber Company. In order to drive me back to my house. It's only a 14 minute drive one way back to my Home. The price was $20.00. Amanda said that Sharp Memorial Hospital Management has stopped giving out FREE UBER RIDES to their patients. This is because their Sharp Memorial Hospital was to pay for every Uber Ride that is issued out to their patients. There was Nobody who lives in my house who could pick me up from this Sharp Memorial Hospital. Because none of these 4 people who are tenants , they don't own their own cars. I am the only person who has bought and I have owned my same Car for (31) years now. My car is operating in excellent condition. I was very disappointed that Amanda the nurse didn't give be me a FREE Uber Ride back to my house. Amanda said she can only issue me a FREE PRONTO BUS PASS . This FREE BUS PASS will still be Active for a two months period. It will expire on November 17, 2026. Their Security Guard his name is Howard he was very friendly and helpful. Amanda their RN told Howard to walk with me to the Bus Stop number 102 to pick me up at that location. Howard walked me over to the bus stop bench was two blocks away from their Sharp Memorial Hospital. Then I had to wait about (30 minutes) later for the MTS Bus Driver picked me up at this bus stop to take me home. I had to get off about 6 different Bus Stops before I was driven back to my destination towards my house that day.

I saw Dr. Van den Heuvel to get my Mirena IUD removed and replaced. She is personable and made me…read morefeel like I was in good hands. But the reason I'm writing a review is because I was extremely unprepared for how horrifically painful this procedure would be, and I want to raise awareness regarding the need for better pain management and help other women know what to expect when getting/removing an IUD. (My first IUD insertion 8 years ago was quite painful, but it wasn't as bad as today; and if anything, I thought the second round would be better given my familiarity with the process.) The insertion/removal itself only took a couple minutes and was "successful" but the pain was excruciating, nearly torturous and unbearable. The removal was incredibly bad, I had a consistent dull pain during the measurement, and then the insertion was incredibly bad. Immediately afterward I began sweating uncontrollably, shaking, blacking out, and feeling feverish and like I was going to vomit. I was assured it would pass. It did, eventually (I spent an extra hour in the office being monitored and another hour in my car waiting until I no longer felt light-headed to drive.) But I am baffled at the idea that what I experienced (both during and after) is considered normal or acceptable for any patient. The pain is grossly downplayed by medical professionals as a "pinch" or "cramping" and the idea that a little ibuprofen is going to be sufficient to manage it is ridiculous. There are countless firsthand stories of women describing this shocking and agonizing pain, yet all the official sites/resources continue to use language that downplays it, and it seems consistently downplayed in the room right before the procedure. Pain management should be at the forefront of any IUD discussion. Topical lidocaine appears to be pretty commonly used and recommended now, but that was not brought up as an option for me. My visit summary mentions a "minor vagal reaction" and makes no reference to pain at all. If that's how most of these procedures are recorded, no wonder people continue to write off IUD insertion pain as not that serious. Women aren't out here complaining just for the hell of it. This is a problem, and this procedure does not need to be agonizingly painful.
