When a different staff member has to get back to me (e.g. a Loan Officer) I have gotten a call back really quickly. I also have accounts at the one of the two "Major" banks that I share with my husband and although the people are nice, the service is ridiculously slow and the staff never returns phone calls so I MUCH prefer CB&T for the quality of the customer service and the speed of getting things done. This location is in a big office tower but they validate parking so it is free to use the downstairs parking lot. And there is good chain sandwich cafe that is very convenient for lunch in the lobby.

I can pick up the phone and talk directly to a branch manager (Kelley Carpenter) or district manager with any banking questions. When I applied for a business loan, I got a call from a big wig in Sacramento thanking me for my business. WOW. I also love the remote deposit feature we use in two of my offices. Online customer service is always helpful. They even host a luncheon for business owners with interesting guest speakers. Who knew a bank would/could do this? This bank treats me like a king.

Three M's & an N! ( ...sounds like an indie comedy on VH1...Lifetime?... )…read more This is the not-entirely-hidden-away-yet-off-the-beaten-path branch of Chase, near the lip of Lafayette, conveniently situated near Rite Aid, Lunardi's, Starbucks, eateries, even shoe repair! It actually matters to me where a branch is located; it often can correlate with said staff reflecting the feel of the area. First: Mitra was the one who I first met and got to know on a first-name basis. Courteous with a smile, open to a laugh, competent, attentive. Professional. She is great to deal with. Second: Margaret was one seeking further banking business with me, engaging and building rapport, conversing over culture, philosophy, open to a laugh. In running a business, depending on the relationship, spending time in actual conversation is part of the work day. I perform such interactions in my business life, whether I am the one seeking to build a trusting relationship with a customer or on the opposite end of one attempting that with me. Margaret is doing a good job. Third: Mei and Natalie. Both extend a sincere smile, efficiently process my checks, all the while being warm and open to my good ( or corny ) jokes. ;-) These are the touches that a customer like me appreciates. Believe me, I stopped using another branch over their flat to blank to negative dispositions. An enduring bad attitude I will not tolerate. There are probably others who feel the same. Another appreciation for this branch: coffee consistently available ( cannot say that for two other local branches ), water, and Halloween/Summer candies. Small touches count and communicate appreciation to customers. For my current banking needs, this branch, "The Three M's & an N", keep me coming back. Keep it up!

I visited the Pleasant Hill Bank of America branch to request a basic account verification required…read moreby CalPERS to process a retirement deposit via ACH. Since I no longer use paper checks--a common shift for many modern checking accounts--I was advised to have my bank complete and sign Section 2 of the CalPERS Direct Deposit form instead. I brought all necessary identification, including my passport, driver's license, birth certificate, and marriage certificate, to make the process as smooth as possible. Despite this, staff at the branch declined to sign or stamp the form, stating that Bank of America does not provide wet signature for external documents. I was surprised by this, especially given the bank's involvement in other verified transactions like mortgage processing; as my family has held three mortgages with Bank of America. As a result, I've experienced delays in receiving my funds and have had to request a physical check from the State Controller's Office instead. For those planning to retire using CalPERS or a 457(b), I recommend confirming your bank's willingness to support your financial transition--or consider a financial institution that can partner with you on long-term goals. I also did make note of this with the state of California.

The Chase Bank experience has dwindled. I've been a customer since forever in the Bay Area (since…read moreit was taken over from WaMu). It's reliable, until it isn't for all the wrong reasons. 1. At this branch, the ATM is almost always down. It's always no cash available currently (May and June 2024). 2. I tried to get ahold of its mortgage business - and the agent there are mostly not reachable. They also dissuade me from the best available options - which is availability and eligibility of 1st time home owner loans/alternatives. To be fair, maybe they're just not supposed to tell you what's right. 3. the ATM took my money and didn't send me a receipt. Nowadays, I have to always video myself putting in money for proof. It has come to that level of untrustworthiness. 4. I always need to watch out for the monthly fee that they charge onto my account and then spend time to call them to reverse it because I had sufficient amount in my account, or have enough direct deposit for the month, or whichever the reason it is that should have waived the monthly charge. 5. All the foreign money request is no longer available on site. You'll need to request well in advanced... but seriously, I thought at least they'll have the Euro's or something that is usually requested (since Euros cover lots of country... like almost a continent). 6. For this particular branch, they never have enough Lunar New Year envelopes - I have to go to branch nearby (Pleasant Hill for example). I hope it gets better.
