5-Star Review - Outstanding Customer Service Recovery by Store Manager Arlin at Discount Tire…read more I want to take a moment to share my recent experience at Discount Tire -- one that began with disappointment and frustration, but ended with a clear reminder of what true customer service looks like and should be. I recently had an issue with a set of 40,000-mile rated tires I purchased which showed unusual wear after only two years of regular driving in town and a few out of town. This wasn't a minor issue; the wear was well beyond what I'd expect under normal conditions, and it raised safety concerns as well as questions about product quality. As a long-time customer, I expected better performance and durability, so naturally, I was concerned and disappointed. Unfortunately, when I first brought this issue to the attention of a service rep, he didn't acknowledge my concerns as he brushed them aside. It was obvious that the problem was being minimized rather than addressed. I felt I was being dismissed because his response felt more like a formality rather than a genuine attempt to investigate or assist. I was looking for a fair assessment of what had gone wrong and what could be done, so that initial interaction left me feeling overlooked and disappointed. That experience left a bad taste and made me question the level of support I could expect as a customer. Well that question was answered, and my perception changed when Discount Tire Store Manager Arlin got involved. Right from the beginning, the tone of the conversation between Arlin and I shifted entirely. Arlin took the time to personally review the situation. He listened carefully to my concerns and what I experienced without interruption. Arlin inspected the tires thoroughly, reviewed my tire maintenance history, gathered all relevant information and went to work. What stood out between the previous interaction from this was Arlin's genuine intent to understand the issue and do right by the customer. Arlin never dismissed my concerns, nor did he recite policy or rush through the process. He was attentive, respectful, and genuinely interested in getting to the bottom of the issue. He owned the problem and made it clear he was there to help. What impressed me most was how far Arlin went to make things right. Arlin treated the situation with professionalism, empathy, and care. He recognized that something wasn't right, and more importantly, he took ownership of finding a solution. He went above and beyond to ensure I felt heard and valued, and he did everything within his power to resolve the issue fairly and efficiently. Arlin didn't just offer a quick fix or a generic answer -- Arlin went through the computer and showed me what my options were and when I agreed to a solution, he took action. His professionalism, integrity, and problem-solving mindset reminded me why I chose Discount Tire in the first place. He ensured that the resolution was fair and it reflected the company's commitment to standing behind their products. You see, Arlin didn't just fix the problem -- he reaffirmed the values and Mission Statement that Discount Tire claims to stand by. In an age where customer service is too often reduced to scripted responses and surface-level gestures, Arlin's approach was refreshing. He restored my confidence not only in their products, but in the company as a whole. It's easy for companies to shine when everything goes smoothly, but the real test of customer service is how they respond when something goes wrong. Arlin passed that test with flying colors. He turned a negative situation into a positive experience. Because of Arlin's outstanding service and commitment to the countless customers that enter the store on a regular basis, Arlin not only retained me as a customer, he earned my trust and appreciation all over again. "This experience is a perfect example of why people stay loyal to a brand -- not because mistakes don't happen, but because of how those mistakes are handled." Arlin, thank you for taking the time to treat me as more than just a transaction. Your leadership, and dedication to customer satisfaction turned what could've been a lost customer into a grateful and returning one. You represent the best of what Discount Tire has to offer. "You exemplify what customer service should look and be like. You represent the mission statement of Discount Tire with pride and authenticity, and you should be commended for your dedication to doing right by the customer." Thank you Arlin, as a U.S. Army veteran, I stand and salute you ...

I don't mind the up selling thing, but the slow pace is maddening. They won't even enter your data in the computer until the last car is finished. It took 50 minutes to get out of there. My normal oil change guys have me out in 10 to 15 minutes. I was on the other side of town and thought I would try these guys. Bad mistake, don't go there if you can avoid it. When I complained about the service they quoted company rules and regulations, about half a dozen of them, and then acted surly. The price wasn't any special either. Lot's of better oil change places around.

Purchased a vehicle from this dealership in May 2024 -- and within just days, serious problems…read morebegan to surface. I returned the vehicle multiple times and made repeated requests for repairs. Over the course of several months, I personally demonstrated the issues to service staff, recorded conversations and incidents, and even installed a dash cam to document the ongoing problems. Despite all of this, the dealership refused to repair the vehicle. As of July 1, 2025, the dealership has still refused to release the vehicle's service records. When the co-owner requested them, they were told "we don't have any," despite the vehicle spending multiple days -- even weeks -- on their lot. Do NOT purchase from this dealership. They will: Refuse to perform repairs -- even those covered under a valid factory warranty Refuse to honor service contracts Deny ever working on the vehicle Blame the customer for "user error" instead of addressing real mechanical issues Let me be clear about the individuals involved: Stephanie Johnson (Service Dept): Offers no assistance and passes customers off to a service manager who lacks knowledge or initiative. Alan Whitson (Service Manager): Refuses to take responsibility, denies valid concerns, and places blame on the customer. Tommy Taylor (General Manager): Acknowledged the issue and even said they would "just go ahead and replace the radio" -- which was never done. Nancy Kern: Handled communication with the DMV during the formal complaint I filed. After that, the dealership refused all service, claiming that I had "taken legal action" simply by initiating the complaint. This dealership is not trustworthy. In fact, they went so far as to issue a criminal trespass warning against a disabled veteran -- solely to avoid making necessary repairs. They ignore warranty obligations, avoid accountability, and withhold documentation that customers are legally entitled to receive.

He told me what was wrong with my vehicle and gave me a fair price, he also made sure I knew of other issues (that were soon to be a problem) since I had not gotten it serviced since I bought it and he worked day and night to get my vehicle back to me so I can have it the next day to go home promptly and safe. This is the second time I have had a "save the day" experience with Felix at Budget automotive…read more This time I stopped by to see if I could make an appointment with Felix to have him look at a check engine light and a couple problem codes onstar sent me. He asked me where it was at (I pointed outside in the parking lot) and he grabbed his diagnostic tool and went out to look at it. Then he opened the hood, crawled over the engine and emerged with a broken serpentine fan belt. He went on to say the idler pulley had failed and chewed up the belt. At that point he went to work finding the parts (newer Duramax parts are not as easy to find as you would think) and located the belt locally but the idler pulley had to be ordered from Chevrolet and it would be the next morning before it was there. The next morning Port Lavaca had a severe storm that knocked out all power and communications until that afternoon. I called Felix and he told me the pulley was there but it was the wrong belt they had. I had to be in Kenedy for work the following morning so it was important that I got my truck back. Felix finally found a belt in Victoria and knowing I needed my truck he drove over from Port Lavaca and picked it up. By now it was getting late. I had my wife take me to the shop so I could get it as soon as it was done and Felix would not have to wait on us (we live in Seadrift). To wrap this up he didn't finish until 11:30pm that night. When he finished he was more worried about wiping down the hood, bumper and fender where he had been working than getting paid. The bill was within a few dollars of what he quoted me (the correct belt actually was more expensive) despite all the things he had to do to finish the job. I said it before and I will say it again, if your not taking your car to Felix your not getting the best service and your likely paying too much.
