I called in this morning for a quote on an oil change for two cars (SUV's). Everything was good, the guy was very kind and helpful. So I decided to schedule appointments for both vehicles. Upon arriving for the first appointment, when trying to check my car in I was told a price that was double what I was told over the phone. The guy didn't really give me any other options or an option to speak to a supervisor/manager at all, so I would steer clear of these types of dealings. I walked out quickly and decided to not have either of our cars worked on there and want to share this experience for others to not suffer. We have been using fire stone for over 7 years (starting with the location that shut down in NoHo) so it's sad that something like this would now happen for us to have to find somewhere else to service our cars. read more

Horrible service, I'm a tow truck driver & I came to drop a customers car off & one of the workers had an extreme attitude with me when I asked where does he want me to drop off the customers car. The manager, Greg, has been the boss here for a long time, and it's easy to see why this place has such great ratings. I've been taking my care to the Firestone in Van Nuys for years, and love them. When my check engine light came on last week, I called for an appointment and was told their diagnostics guy was out, and I should take it to Studio City, which I did. Everyone I talked to was friendly, and when I told them I'm planning to trade the car in and don't want to spend a fortune on it, they didn't try to upsell me. They kept in contact and the car was ready when they said it would be. The problem turned out to be a valve that needed to be replaced - oil wasn't going where it was supposed to and the oil pressure was nonexistent - empty. Three days later, my oil pressure light came on, and I discovered that THEY HADN'T PUT ANY OIL IN THE CAR. I was running on whatever was left from before the repair. Fortunately I was across the street from a Ralph's, and I was able to buy some oil and avoid another costly catastrophe. When I checked my repair paperwork, they claimed that I had "declined an oil change" (which I didn't), which I suppose was their rationale for not filling the oil. PREDICTABLE. On the Sunday after New Years, my husband and I found a metal rod sticking out of the tread of one of our tires. Many tire repair shops were closed (including our favorite tire place), and this was one of the only places that was open... We called ahead; they told us to come in, said they could help us out. We arrived not 5 minutes after the phone call and the mechanic told us that they were too busy to service us, but not after giving the tire a cursory look, after which he said, "I can't fix that. You're going to need to replace the whole tire. But I can't do it today so you'll have to leave it overnight." WE PREDICTED that a dishonest shop would automatically say just that. So we decided NOT to do this, and took a gamble driving home with plans to fix it the next day. The next day, I woke up to see that the tire was NOT deflated at all. But the rod was still in it. Our favorite tire shop (which I'll not name in case someone thinks this is a fake review to bolster people going to the other location.... but I will say that they are in NOHO with a perfect 5 star review from 450+ people) was open and when I showed them the tire, they immediately said it was fixable. But get this! They took the rod out, and found no leakage. They said that the rod probably went in sideways and just got stuck in the tread. He said to keep an eye on it, but as of right now, no fix was necessary! He sent me on my way without asking me to pay a dime for his time! THAT is an HONEST company. NOT this place. read more

I was on my way to school for a huge exam and called all the other places nearby- it wasn't even 8am but this place was open. The person I spoke to on the phone told me I could come in. I arrived and they immediately dropped what they were doing to switch out my tire (I was in panic mode as I could not be late to my exam). When I got there the front desk guy quoted me 3hrs and my car took over 5hrs. I waited and no one gave me updates I had to check in myself and Giovanni had an attitude. They tried to quote me nearly double what I was quoted two weeks earlier over the phone with Greg and when I confronted them about how long it was taking they blamed each-other. Joshua said he never told me 2hrs and Giovanni lied & said he was giving me the best rate when I asked for a discount bc of the inconvenience. Which was a lie bc again I was quoted my rate by Greg weeks prior. I would've rented a car and went about my day had I known it would take nearly 6hrs since it was my birthday and I had ALOT to do. They could care less & Giovanni tried to offer me a deal for my front brakes only if I did it that day as if they hadn't wasted enough of my time. He said that my car would not make it to my friend's wedding in Santa Barbara without renting a car bc my front brakes were so bad. The next day I took my car to the dealership turns out I don't even need front brakes and Firestone overcharged me by $162 for my back brakes. I do not recommend this location of scammers. If you value communication don't come here. Only even went here by my warranty company suggested them. I prefer shops where the owner is involved because the level of service, communication and knowledge is far above these franchise places. Stopped by to have an oil leaked under the engine checked. Was told they are too busy to come back for a 9am appointment. Get there next day at 9am. Was told they are busy so I have to leave the car for several hours. If they told me that the day before no problem. I would have had my GF follow me there. Then tried to make it seem like it was my fault for assuming a professional place would be able to keep a set appointment or communicate next steps. Took my car back, called another place and they ask me information on the phone about my make, model, year, mileage and issue and was able to tell me what it's most likely the issue because the OWNER does the work himself knows it's common issue for my car. Asked for a drop off Monday, will handle claim with insurance and have my car back end of day if it's a simple oil filter housing issue or could be next day if it's this other issue that is not likely. That's how a professional knowledge shop operates and communicates. Will never make the mistake of giving firstone work. read more

If I could give less than 0 stars I would... Greg ought to be let go for the way he is pocket hungry and blatantly lies to customers. The way he treated me specifically and thought i was some dumbass and didn't know much about my car... He will lie and say your car has all these "components" and will charge you like crazy and then it will break a week later and then they will act like it wasn't related but then offer to fix it?? But then they'll charge you more money to fix the problem that they made in the first place and say it was "them being helpful to you". They'll never pay for something they damage so you better make sure Greg isn't running the show that day. Christian will also tell you that they will help pay for anything they did wrong and then Greg will say that's not true and they'll just give you the jerk around. If I had a lift I would've done the work myself because they didn't think I was a level 1 tech so I felt super disrespected of them trying me. DONT go here if you have any morals or care. I hope your bad experience here goes well :) I hope Greg reads this but he'll pretend it's not him and just blame it on someone else or have an excuse. The place is ran like chickens running around with their heads cut off. Long story short I went to get a new tensioner for my car. I had to come back 3 additional times just to get it fixed. Between ordering a bad tensioner, not having the new one ready, and them not being able to work well in the rain, this was a nightmare. This was a very expensive job, $500+ worth and I really feel like they were just playing with my money. The guys were also very quick & curt with me which just adds salt to the wound. I purchased tires from Firestone about a year ago. All four tires that I purchased are under warranty. Last week I was driving to the store when one of my front tires popped unexpectedly, and so I went to Firestone to get it replaced. I originally went to the Studio City Firestone, but they didn't have my tire in stock; so, I journeyed over to this Firestone. The serviceman was very friendly, but my issue is with their warranty policies. They prorate replacement tires, which I thought was ridiculous because I should not have to pay anything for a brand new tire that tore into shreds within a year. Regardless, my main issue is with their fees which are added in addition to the replacement tire cost. The prorated amount for my tire was $16, however when they were done with all their added fees (which are mandatory) I ended up spending $60 - all to replace one tire which was allegedly under "warranty." For that amount I could've just went to another tire shop and purchased a brand new tire, that probably includes a far better warranty than Firestone's. It's more so a policy issue with Firestone in general, than this specific shop that I have a problem with. However, everyone at this location were very friendly. The only comment I can make is that they need more front desk workers. The line was extremely long, it took more time to get through the line than it did to have my tire fixed. read more

We all know how hard it is to find a competent, reliable and honest mechanic... look no further. I recently had reason to suspect that my battery was going bad and testing the voltage alone wasn't enough to confirm one way or the other (it's not a great way to test the health of the battery) so I called Firestone to see if they had a battery in stock. They didn't have the battery I needed but ordered it and said it would be there the next day. The next day I dropped my vehicle off, fully expecting to pay for the new battery. Joshua called me later in the afternoon and to my surprise he let me know that the battery tested well within range, that my alternator and rest of my electrical system was working perfectly and that I could come pick it up. Not only did the guys at Firestone not try and upsell me or "find" a bunch of things wrong while doing the vehicle inspection but they were honest enough to let me know that I didn't even need the expensive battery that they ordered for me (and I had fully expected to need). All they had to do was say "The battery needs to be replaced" and I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Instead they saved me $$ and gained a new, loyal customer. Sure, it shouldn't be a big deal. I rarely give five stars, but I was there today and in the last 10 years I've been to five Firestone dealers in various parts of Los Angeles. This one is so far and above all of them that I'm going to come here for all of my repairs Not Just Tires. I also like the fact that they had about five different tires for my Prius. They range from about $60 to $125 each. The two new tires were put on my car before I even knew it and I hadn't finished my coffee and scone. I arrived at 3:40pm on Saturday and left at 4:20. Reading some of the other reviews I thought I would mention that there was only one other customer waiting there. It felt safe even though the Covid variant is picking up steam. But it seems like auto repair places, when they have too many people or too many cars, just get too busy quickly. read more

My tire wasn't in stock, and I couldn't come back the next day as I have a 1 1/12 hour morning commute. Instead she got me one that was twice as much and only charged for labor and tax. Who does that! Excellent customer service. Can't recommend this particular store enough. From the many years I have been going (with a 4 year out of state hiatus) they simply have the best customer service. And Whitney, the tire manager, went totally out of her way, stayed late with the technician to make sure I would be safe. A hour before my appointment, I received a phone call from them confirming the tires I wanted were there and ready to be installed. When I show up the agent at the counter, looking at his cell phone, "confirms" my appointment and price. It was $280 more and a different tire brand. I asked about the call. he just said it was a mistake. I informed him I confirmed on their website the tires were available. He said the website is wrong, it's a mistake. I came in yesterday at 3pm (they close at 6) and the man at the front desk told me they were super busy today and asked if I can come back at 7a tomorrow since that's when they open. I said my schedule is really tight with having to be at work early and he said that was fine, it wouldn't take very long. I asked if I needed to give him my name and he said no he remembers faces very easily. So I left thinking I'd get it fixed the next day. Jokes on me!! I showed up at 7a and there were 3 other cars waiting outside. They still had the chain up so we couldn't pull in, so we waited outside. I waited 30 entire minutes and no one showed up. Their yelp and website said they opened at 7 and that guy told me 7, but not even a single person was there at 7a. Thanks guy, I had to rush to another tire place (which by the way, most open at 8) to get it looked at. I don't have the flexibility to go after work and this was my one day to get it checked. You best believe I'm calling corporate to report them. Don't waste your time- they clearly don't give a sh** about their customers. This place is just awful. They give you a fee upfront and then it's magically much higher later. I called on July 5 at about 3:05pm, spoke with Greg, gave my car's details, and was told a fee for a particular type of oil change (full synthetic). He then suggested to come in that same day and they can get the work done the same day. I get there 20 minutes later and I'm told they're full and can't take any more cars. It's the day after a holiday and their lot was full, so I don't press the issue and just decide to come back the next day. I go back the next day and the fee is nearly 50% higher than what I was told over the phone. I tell them that I spoke with someone who gave me a specific fee for the work just yesterday, but they said Greg didn't recall the conversation. There are a lot of better organized and honest auto care shops in the area and this isn't one of them. Funny thing is, there is a banner about honesty in the waiting room. read more
