Made an appointment the day before, dropped off the car, and they called me when they were done, within an hour. In addition, this location is convenient because it is within walking distance to the Farmers Market and Trader Joes. Since I got a really great price on a oil change (using a coupon), I was expecting a lot of upselling for other services - but my dread was unwarranted. I was simply and concisely informed that my tires were in bad shape (which I already knew) and was provided with a printout quote for new tires as well as other things that they found during their inspection. I was there again, in June 2015, as my Toyota Solara needs almost weekly maintenance after hitting 100K miles. The current issue: Overheating. Firestone diagnoses: Accurate Timeliness: Fast. The problem (leaking fuel pump) was diagnosed within 2 hours. I did get a second opinion, and the other shop required all do for a similar prognosis. Cost of initial evaluation: Low. $30.00. Another shop charged $50.00 for the same. Firestone also topped off the fluids within the short 2-hour time. Cost of overall repair: The estimate for the overall repair warranted a 2nd opinion, but I've learned the hard way that such should always be done. Will I return to Firestone Studio City: Yes. Fairly certain I posted a review about the magical Firestone a couple of years ago, but no matter. Greg, Eduardo, and now Lauren have been taking care of me and also my company vehicles for the past three years. I have never, ever encountered a business so consistently dedicated to customer service in my life. You've heard about Swiss watches? Old world craftsmanship? Same league; probably better. Are they perfect? Pretty close. I think I had an issue once last year that they addressed so quickly that I was actually happier than if everything had been absolutely perfect. Will they do in a day what takes two days? Sometimes. Will it take longer than the time they estimated? I can't remember that ever happening. It's possible but there would be a VERY good reason. I've been coming here for tires and repairs for years. They have always been reliable, but just exceeded my expectations with an incredible act of kindness and respect. Recently I brought my BMW in to have them check a tire that was constantly losing air. It took longer than promised, and I found myself calling in to check rather than getting updates from them. I was a bit peeved, but when I went in to pick up my car, they delighted me by refusing payment, acknowledging that the job wasn't delivered as promised. I insisted on paying them but they refused. The issue was the rim and not the tire, and I know they absorbed out of pocket costs. This is a level of respect that goes above and beyond. I highly recommend them! read more

I went to the Firestone in Studio City to change my break pads and rotors. They charged me in total of $1000 for the parts and labor to replace all four breaks and rotors. But a few days later the breaks start to make high pitched noise. So apparently they used the cheap parts instead of the original parts. When you use cheap parts everything else could be fine but the breaks will always make loud noises. On top of this the sales guy convinced me to apply for a credit card. Due to my own forgetfulness I missed a payment in July, but once I noticed I immediately paid off the whole amount. I called the credit union for a "goodwill adjustment" so my credit score won't suffer. Most credit card companies will do this for their customers as long as things are paid. But this agency was not forgiving at all and basically told me to piss off. I guess the lesson here is don't go to this location for parts replacement. If you get their credit service, be ready for some harsh and unforgiving customer service. read more

Quick, honest, knowledgeable and friendly service from these guys over here at firestone. Daniella helped me in the morning and was very friendly and quick. Had me assessed and out the door in 10 minutes. When I went to pick up my car later that evening, (these guys get your car out asap) Greg the manager was totally upfront and honest with me and told me that the work they had reconvened did not need to be done for another 5,000 miles. Most auto repair places are always trying to rip you off and repair stuff that doesn't need it. For Greg to be completely honest with me is extremely professional and it's hard to find. He wasn't just trying to meet a sales goal or make more money he was trying to help me out. Greg has won my business from now on with my car and future cars. Huge ups to him and his whole staff. Leaving work today but something was different. My tire was hissing like a rattle snake. Drove home as safely as possible and looked for a local tire shop. All the shops within a close proximity had closed sooner than their normal hours or were only accepting appointments. I brought my car in because of a rather mysterious problem (It died and wouldn't restart ... for about 1/2 hour. Then it did restart). Firestone ran diagnostics on it and drove the car around a few times, but couldn't find any problem -- the car would not duplicate the problem for them. This was not totally unexpected, although of course I had hoped they would be able to find the problem. Since this problem has only happened once to me and they were not able to duplicate it, I finally picked up the car and drove it home. Now here's the thing: Greg did not charge me for the diagnostics that they ran (which he could have) probably because I'm a long term customer. I really appreciated that. And I don't fault them for not being able to fix a problem that they could not duplicate. PS: The people at the front desk have always been friendly and helpful. read more

If you like being GOUGED for work that is questionable, this is the repair shop for you. I have been a customer of Firestone in North Hollywood for approx. 12 years. I first tried Firestone Studio City (FSC) a year ago because its closer to my home. A year ago FSC replaced my fuel pump, and at the time, Greg the manager, said he was giving me a special discount of $200 because I was a longtime customer. What a great guy, I thought! When my check engine light on my Lexus RX300 came on again 2 weeks ago, Greg said the same thing, giving me a $200 discount because I am a longtime Firestone customer, this time charging me $890 for Diagnosis ($99), Air Mass Sensor, Evaporative Purge Valve (EPV), and a 3 inch section of frayed 1/2" diameter air hose. A few days later my check engine light came back on, and this time FSC said I might need a charcoal canister. I did some research and found out that the error codes that I originally came in for P0440, P0441 & P0446, together are indicative of a charcoal canister, so the work that I paid $890 wasn't necessarily needed. Edward told me the charcoal canister will cost $825 parts & $100 labor, and that his supplier is usually Lexus of Glendale. I called Lexus Glendale and found out the list price for their charcoal canister is $529, so FSC was going to charge $296 extra for the part. Edward said FSC marks up the price 15%, but $296 is a 55% mark-up, not 15%. I asked for my old parts from the just completed repairs (so that I could have them tested), and Edward said they were thrown away. I asked why he didn't give them back to me, and he said that I didn't ask for them. I brought the Lexus back 2 days later to have the car diagnosed again. This time I was told that I need a charcoal canister, but I may also need an idle control valve. In the mean time I found out that a non OEM Air Mass Sensor that FSC charged me $440 for, costs $80 or so retail almost everywhere else. This time the mark-up was 550%. Even the Lexus OEM Air Mass Sensor at Glendale retails for $209 - less than 1/2 FSC's price of $440 - and repair shops get an additional 15% off of retail. The Evaporative Purge Valve that FSC installed retails for $65 retail, but FSC charged me $165, about 2.5 times the fair retail price. The kicker is that after gouging me 550% for one part and nearly 250% for the 2nd part, Greg had the audacity to tell me that I was getting a $200 discount off of regular price - because I am a longtime Firestone customer! Here's the bigger punch line: It turns out that Keyes Lexus Dealership Van Nuys would have been cheaper than FSC, even with a higher price for OEM parts, and clearly Lexus dealerships have more knowledge about Lexus cars, and would have gotten the diagnosis right and not been guessing. Keyes charges $180 for diagnosis (vs $99 for FSC) but Keyes applies the $180 towards the cost of repair, whereas FSC charged me $99 as an additional charge for repair. Keyes charges $80 for a 1/2 hour labor vs. $67.50 at FSC. At Keyes, instead of $890, I would have paid $715 for the same work (assuming that it really needed to be done): parts - $225 OEM Air Mass Sensor (vs. $440 non-OEM at Firestone) + $135 OEM EPV (vs. $165 non-OEM at Firestone) + $255 labor & 3" hose. I threatened to sue FSC for mis-diagnosing my car, selling me parts that I did not need, and not giving me my parts back, at which point Edward said that he would refund my $890, put the old parts back on (2 days earlier he told me that the parts were thrown away). Of course, I took him up on the offer, because I had zero trust left of FSC. My car was returned to me idling horribly, which it never did before, lurching forward unless I hold the brakes down hard, and idling wildly between 1500 and 2500 rpm while in park. Edward said this was because they cleaned the idle control valve! At this moment I'm just happy to get my car back from FSC, and from here on in I'll let a legitimate car mechanic fix my car. Came in to have a nail removed from a tire. The service rep immediately went into up-sell mode, telling me that the angle of the nail might indicate that they can't patch the tire and (wait for it...) I'd need a new tire, which means two new tires, which (since they don't carry my tires) would require a "special order." Needless to say, this triggered the ol' B.S. detector, and I ended up going to a nearby Chevron garage where the mechanic removed a quarter-inch nail, told me there was no leak, checked the air pressure, and sent me on my way - at no cost. The cocksucker actually asked me HOW MY CREDIT WAS and tried to get me to apply for a Firestone credit card BEFORE HE EVEN KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG!!! All the "worst case scenario" prices were the EXACT quote when they called an hour later. They outright lied about tire companies "not making my tire anymore" and when I decided to call their BS it literally took ONE PHONE CALL to find a better quote for $300 less at Rons Tires. I drove my car out of their with a flat and will never be coming back. Im sorry that I didn't listen to the bad reviews before I went in. I read them and thought...
