I don't know about this place. This is my first time here since they opened. It's 4 degrees outside and my tire pressure light popped on. Went to my regular gas station to fill up the tires but the air compressor was broken. So here I am at Firestone at 7am on a Wednesday morning in 3 degree weather. I was told it would take 30 to 40 minutes (!!!) Because they need to move cars put of the bay, they have a lot of cars...yadda, yadda... Cars were pulled out of the bays and other cars were put into the bays. Well, there's an empty bay. My car with semi-inflated tire is still waiting outside. It's 7:37am. Came in for an appointment scheduled online, upon arrival im told they don't have anyone in to complete the services requested when i made the appointment 4 hours earlier and I wasn't given and call or any heads-up for that matter about the service i requested can't be completed. The services i requested was a VEHICLE INSPECTION and a WHEEL ALIGNMENT, "my guy whose working doesn't know how to do any of those things, all he does is oil changes to be honest". I've given this place three tries, and I've never managed to actually get work done on my car. The first time, I came in to get an oil change, but they said they wouldn't be able to get to it for about 90 minutes. The second time, I needed a new headlight, and they said it would be a couple hours, but I couldn't leave the car with them--I would have to sit in the waiting area the whole time. The third time, I needed a new battery. They said they had it and would put it in; then after 40 minutes, they told me the battery they had was leaking, so they would have to get a new one from the Skokie location. After waiting another 30 minutes for that, they said the one they got didn't fit, and was I sure my car was a 2010? At that point, I had to walk out. read more

Extremely disappointed. I bring in my vehicle regularly for scheduled maintenance as I travel quite a bit for work. Recently, I brought my vehicle in for an emergency service. After bringing in my car, I received a call from the mechanic informing me that a bolt was stripped and needed to be replaced for a whopping $475. Something didn't seem right to me (as they are the only shop I go to regularly) and I got help from a buddy of mine who is also a mechanic. To my shock, he informed me that the previous mechanic forced the lug nuts on, not just one stud but two. I was also surprised that the mechanic who quoted me gave me a more expensive quote compared to other Firestone shops in my area. I called requesting a more fair price and consideration especially for such damage on their part. I was only offered a coupon. I have filed a complaint and are going through regional customer support. Won't be going back to this shop. read more

Excellent service. Eric took stupendous care of me after a night from hell waiting over 2&1/2+ hours for my roadside assistance to come...TWICE! Long story for another day. I was towed there. Luckily, I did that because the run-flat tires that should have been on my fancy Caddy were NOT what was on it. Two different sets (one on the front and one on the back). Neither of which were run-flats. Just ordinary tires. There's no spare on this sports version of a Cadillac because there's supposed to be RUN-FLAT tires on it. Smh. Anyhoodle, by the time I got towed here, it was only an hour till opening so I stayed and headed in just after they opened. I saw the crew trickling in just before 8 am. As soon as I explained to Eric that I was far away from home because roadside assistance only tows you so far and what a hellacious night I'd had, he put me on the books right away to squeeze me in as quickly as possible. Even though they were super booked from all the weekend tires mishaps since the weather has trashed Chicagoland's roads. After discovering the car didn't have the run-flats, we discussed whether I wanted to just replace the two rear tires or get a whole new set. And whether they should be the run-flats since I had no place for a spare in this car. No pressure from Eric. Just information given and I decided to get the whole set of run-flats so I wouldn't be stuck waiting for a tow again. Eric explained in detail how they worked. Answered all my questions. And didn't push the most expensive ones at me. Just suggested a nice reasonable set that was on sale even. AND made sure to give me my Uber discounts! Now that's service. Explained in detail all the costs, taxes and totals. Including labor and the cost for the below find. My day just keeps getting better. Further issues were that I inherited this car from my dad and no one had given me the locking lug nuts' key. It was nowhere to be found in the car either. Cue Eric calling his guy that had the day off but had the only kit for removing and replacing these locking lug nuts to get access to this mechanic's tools. (Yes. They all buy their own tools so lock them up. But he was nice enough to give the shop access without him being there.) Also cue Eric calling multiple shops to get 4 new lug nuts to replace the locking ones. He kept me informed throughout. Told me to have at snoozing in their lounge after my no sleep hell night where I didn't think I'd even be able to make it to a restaurant in the freezing cold to wait. Let alone stay sitting upright in a booth. Lol Their big chairs are quite comfy. Anyway, after all is said and done, I think I paid less than he quoted me even. And he apologized for it taking so long. Told me it would have taken half the time without the lug nut issue. Which I appreciated how quick it got done and that I didn't have to wait all day. Or go away and come back. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Especially due to the great guy, Eric, that's running it. I heard him being professional and upfront with everyone over the phone and that came into the store. Even with being slammed. He was never rude. Just upfront with how busy they were. Had my 2011 Sienna serviced at Firestone (Niles). I was fortunate to see a $100 off of $500+ service. Had tires replaced. Got the Firestone Firehawk Wideoval AS. Read great reviews on the tires especially on rain/snow/ice (Please review attached photo of performance ratings). I was quickly greeted. I printed out the $100 off coupon and dropped of my car. Within 1 3/4 hours, received call that service was completed. Service was done within 2 hours. A few minor complaints - 1. One of my tires was missing a tire stem cap - went inside and was given a replacement. 2. All of my rims had grease - wasn't wiped cleaned. As part of service, cleaning the rims should also be a priority (presentation and quality of work). Overall, my experience with Firestone (Niles) is positive. And due to the minor misses, I gave a 4-star. With my service, I get free tire rotations. Kyle (the onsite Service Rep) was easy to work with. I recommend it. But always do your research to get the best deal in tires & service. read more

I went to this location, because my car needed new wires. The salesman said,"You need spark plugs too." I said,"I don't have a lot of money and I talked to my uncle and he said, I probably just need wires." He said,"Okay, great have a seat!" I sat down and 45 minutes later they gave me my car back, but it was driving the same way. The next day, my uncle stopped by to look at the car and he showed me that the spark plugs desperately needed to be changed. He showed me that the wires were also damaged too. They looked worn and eroded. I had to pay to have my wires and spark plugs replaced elsewhere. One thing that I learned about Firestone is that if you tell them what you think is wrong and they aren't going walk you over to your car and educate you one what should be done! They are going to tell you to have a seat and allow your car to sit and hand you the keys back without doing anything. They didn't fix anything on my car, but they did manage to steal my money. I took my car for a regular oil change as I have here since I got my car. And the other car I had. They had my car for 45min before they called to tell me they couldn't do the oil change because they were missing a tool. They left my car outside running while I waited inside to get my keys or an explanation. The manager walked in said my cars outside with the keys. Gave me no explanation other than each tech has their own tools and he didn't have the one he needed to get the filter out or something. They basically rushed me out like they messed up and we're trying to cover it up. I'm taking my car to the dealership and calling corporate tomorrow. read more

Horrible customer service! This has been my go to place for all auto repairs since the very first day this location opened but ever since they changed management and staff I've had nothing but issues. I had an appointment for an oil change and after inspecting my vehicle they refused to perform the service because the oil plug has been outfitted with an EZ Oil Drain Valve stating that they didn't feel comfortable and didn't want to be liable for any leaks. Perhaps your mechanics should take the time to educate themselves on the benefits of this type of plug. It's actually safer than any conventional type oil plug. read more

Please stay away! I brought my car in about a week and a half because the brake pedal was soft. Although it was soft it was still driveable. I went through Eric, the service Manager, who reassured me that if I brought my car in first thing at 7am that they could remedy my problem of a soft brake pedal by fixing the Master Cylinder. So I scheduled to drop it off on a Wednesday at 7am. Before scheduling the appointment I wanted to confirm with Eric that it would only take a day and I would have a working vehicle to dry to work the following day. Eric reassured me that they could take care of my car and have it back to me the same day. After waiting until noon to get a courtesy call on the progress of my vehicke I decided to call and spoke with the Shop Manager Daylin to get an update on my car. Daylin told me the parts came in late, which I thought was strange since I had made the appointment 3 days in advance. Daylin told me he would give me a call when it is all set and ready to be picked up. 5 hours later Daylin called back and told me that there was a problem. The new Master Cylinder was defective. I told Daylin that I would need a way to get to work and unfortunately he said there was nothing he could do about it. So Unfortunately I had to take a day off of work so they could order a new Master Cylinder. By the next day, Daylin called back and told me that there vendor wouldn't be able to get them a Master Cylinder for a few days. So I told them to just put the Old Master Cylinder on I'll drive it to the dealer to get it fixed. 4 hours later Daylin called me back stating that my car did not have a brake pedal. Daylin told me that he could get me a rental car while they figure what they did wrong. The next day I received a call from Alex the Store Manager. Alex told me he thinks my car needs a Brake Booster. So I had to wait an additional day 3 days until Alex called me back and said the Brake Booster didn't help me get a brake pedal back. After towing my car to A Ford Dealership The Store Manager Alex, asked if I could bring the rental back even though I am without a car that they promised that they could fixed in a day. Unfortunately I am still without a car and plan on renting one soon. I would highly advise anyone who needs brake work done to avoid this place. I will write another Yelp update in a couple of days when EK Automotive in Edison Park, who I recommend to anyone looking for automotive repair or maintenance. P.S. I have health issues and they immediately helped unloading my trunk to get the tools out and put my things back when I picked up. When you walk into any auto repair shop it's usually never good news due to the fact that something is probably wrong with your car. You never really expect to walk out of there with a huge smile on your face after you find out that there was a nail in your tire or your air sensor is corroded. The customer service that these guys offer is absolutely over the top. They take you right away, they go above and beyond just to make sure that there customers leave satisfied. Paul, one of the mechanics is absolutely wonderful. He takes the time to explain everything step by step for what the problem is. I'm very uneducated when it comes to cars, especially knowing that I'm a 21 year old girl. I've been to shops where I feel that the mechanics take advantage of me to buy more products then what I need just because I don't really know anything about cars. Paul took the time to teach me how to check my tire pressure. His customer service was more then I can ever ask for. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars because it truly deserves it !!! read more

His working car that he brought in was no longer drivable and they had to tow it to Ford to fix and ford said it would cost 3,000. I have had two experiences with Firestone Auto Care and my 2009 Toyota Camry. The first time I pulled up and they were only place near by to my location that happened to be open at 7:30pm in the evening on a weeknight when my car kept turning off randomly or failing to start. A friend of mine gave me a jump and then I drove over there to have them look at it. They turned the car off and turned it back on and there were no problems starting and so they sent me away, and I never had the same issue ever since. The mechanics who came out of the garage to help were really nice and helpful, even though it was probably super close to the end of their shift, they were willing to help. That was the reason that I came back for service when I needed it later. He called me back 45 min later to tell me that I needed almost a $1,000 in additional service work: new front and back brake pads and service ($99 per axle = $200), rotors/calipers ($198 per axle!!!+Labor), and cabin air filter ($50+Labor) and air filter ($20+Labor). He told me to come in and he would show me. I waited for a ride to bring me back to the shop, and when I got there and inspected the car with him. I got my car back, picked up the filters down the block, as I was driving I noticed the tire pressure check light was still on, and so I called to say that I noticed A) they did not write the number of miles til the next oil change, nor did they check the tires. The manager answered the phone and told me not to worry the light would turn off in a few minutes. I got home and then my partner and I changed the filters out in my backyard, and as we were closing the air filter under the hood, I double checked the oil and fluids. Oil was fine, but fluids were almost drained and not checked or refilled. Aggravating. By then it was like 7:50pm, I called them to complain and let them know and the manager told me to bring it back to them and he would check it himself. I explained to him that it was Not convenient at all for me to bring my car back to have the job done correctly. By then, I am already behind schedule in getting dinner ready, helping the homework routine, and starting bed time routine. I planned on going back the following weekend, but the rest of my week evenings were booked. I ended up changing the washer fluid myself and using the de-icer that we keep in the garage. He had some nerves to tell me I can't get my car aligned at this Firestone location because hes not honoring no customer alignment specs. Then what really blew me is when he said, "I'm the new manager (cocky voice) and the manager that was here before got fired". Clearly he's wrong cause I've been a customer for 10 years and have always had the alignment specs done at any location i go to no questions asked. Then I figured ok Im not gona argue with him just make sure my steering wheel is straight. Then he starts giving me this dumb look saying, "oh you been here plenty times" and literally starts making up excuses that my vehicle isn't up to date with service records. If you really do not care how you are treated then this is the place for you. I believe customers should be respected so when I came in for my oil change appointment and asked the service writer to mention to the mechanic that he be careful with the retaining clips holding down the covers on the engine, he acted defensive. First he said he had no idea what I was talking about, and when I explained that three clips were missing after my last service there he said that wasn't possible. He said that the clips must have just vibrated off. I explained that was not the case, the center of the clip must be pushed down and then the clip must be pried up, he told me to trust him, they just fall out. I told him I could not trust him if he thought I would believe the clips could vibrate out. I could not believe how argumentative this service person was being but I'd had several bad experiences at this store, so it was par for the course. He told me the price of the oil change and it seemed higher than expected. I asked if the coupon had been applied and he indicated it had. I asked for my copy of the confirmation of services and he told me there was no such thing. I said I always got one before and he told me I never got one. His name was Alex and the business cards indicated he was a manager. Finally, I asked the cost of a tire rotation. He said it was $20. It should have been $9.99 with the coupon. I told him that I didn't want them to touch the tires, not even to check the air pressure because they do not have nitrogen and I didn't want to lose my valve covers again. He said he'd take off the rotation which surprised me because I had not asked for a tire rotation, he had added one & charged me full price, and then didn't give me a copy of the services I ordered. On a previous visit to this store I had them rotate the tires. Afterward, I found that all four of my aluminum valve covers were missing and there were greasy hand prints on the tan interior of the trunk. When I brought this to the store's attention I was told the valve covers probably vibrated off. I ended up contacting a district manager because the store manager would not return my calls. On another occasion I made a service appointment online and arranged for a friend to meet me at the store with plans to shop and lunch while my car was being serviced. We arrived at the store and I was told they had no record of my appointment. They told me they were booked all day and could not do an oil change. I asked that they squeeze me in as my friend had driven in from Wisconsin. They told me that I didn't have an appointment and they didn't have any openings. They said the online appointment system didn't work and I should phone in my appointment. Apparently, I must have complained that the appointment I made online was not being honored because when I picked up my car today and got a copy of the receipt, there was a note section at the bottom of the page saying "5/1/17 - Customer complained again about not being able to accommodate same day appointment,". And another note saying "5-17-17 Customer complained again via C SAT refuse service per management," what ever that means. So, beware, if you complain about sloppy work or missing accessories, or bad treatment, it will be documented and your service writer will have an attitude before you walk in the door. And yes, I did call Corporate to complain about the way I was spoken to and the documentation on my receipt and if you are thinking, why did you ever return to this store anyway, you are right, MY BAD. To save a few dollars and a little time has cost me much in replacing parts ($25) and aggravation. read more

Absolutely the worst choice to bring your vehicle, I went to Firestone on Harlem in Norridge and they were great however they couldn't get my car on the ramps because it is lowered. They suggested I go to the one on Harlem and Dempster. I had the print out work order stating $95.00 for an alignment to be done. I drive over and one of the guys says he can't honor the price that the Firestone in Norridge offered and that it will be $150.00 + an extra charge if it is difficult to align. They should just close this location down or fire everyone and get new workers cause they have no idea what is going on. Save yourself the trip and go somewhere else. read more
