I need to warn others to be cautious with Firestone in Bloomfield. The service in the past year and now has declined significantly. My TPMS light kept coming on, and my brakes were squeaking when backing up and shaking when stopping. I first brought my car to Firestone in mid‑December 2025 for the TPMS issue, and they said they fixed the right front sensor. Over the Christmas/New Year holiday, the light came back on. I returned in January, and they claimed the issue was a loose sensor they had tightened. The following month, I went back again for the brake issue and asked them to recheck the TPMS. They told me only the rear brakes needed work and insisted the TPMS was fine. When I asked about the front brakes, I was told they were "tight" and didn't need replacement. A few weeks later, the TPMS light came back on yet again. I returned and specifically asked them to check all sensors. They said everything was fine. That same day, after driving on the highway, the light came back on. At that point, I no longer trusted their assessment. I went to another mechanic and didn't give any backstory--just asked for a full analysis. I paid $300 for the diagnostic. The verdict: additional TPMS sensors needed replacement, and my front brakes were stripped and urgently needed to be replaced. This was extremely frustrating because Firestone had told me the front brakes were "nice and tight" and that the TPMS system was fine. I ended up paying twice for issues they claimed to have fixed. This is the worst place i've ever been to. came here in my girls car for an emmision test which should be a quick and simple thing. they told it would take up to 25 min. i've been here for over an hour now. after 45 min, they handed me the paper saying my emissions was passed, i went to my car ready to leave when the same guy came up to my window saying he needed to do the whole test over again. because he used the wrong vin nimber. im now here over an hour later still waiting. would give this place 0 stars if it let me. read more

On my most recent visit I purchased 4 new tires and had my vehicle's oil changed. I had an appointment for noon and advised Josh that I would be returning at 3PM. On my return I questioned Josh why the work had not been completed and he claimed it was all set, but I needed rear brakes and he could not reach me via phone. I asked what phone number he used and it was not mine. I told him I would hold off on the brakes and then witnessed them install all 4 tires and add oil to the car. On my way home I discovered both the brake warning and 4wd lights were on. I returned the next day and so advised Josh who spent the next 15 minutes repeating over and over how their personnel would not have touched anything that would cause those indicator lights to be on. He said a technician was not available and to return on Monday. On the way home I took the highway and discovered the cruise control was not working as well. Rather than return the car to Firestone I went to my usual mechanic who diagnosed the problem immediately, seems someone at Firestone unplugged something and failed to plug it back in. read more

My brother purchased tires for me so I went to Firestone to have them installed. When I arrived I got a sense that they weren't very friendly and it took them a long time to say hello. Ok the bright side, I was able to get my new tires and an emissions test within a couple of hours and they charged me $85 which I thought was pretty good. I brought my car in this location for an alignment when I got my car back it has a hole in the front bumper, after talking to the manager he swore the damage didn't happen on the premises ask him to check the cameras he didn't want to a tell me to go file a claim with Firestone. Went for emissions and oil change. Immediately I knew my car was not driving right when it was perfect before. Their mechanic put pure black, thick, disgusting oil into my car. After lying to my face for extra commission telling me "there's acid on my battery," yet after I requested to see the battery apparently it was fine. Currently, my motor is blown thanks to Firestone and if I can sue them I will. read more

They recommend tires every time they look at them in spite of the fact that I don't need them. One time I asked (being the trusting soul that I am) how much tread was left. He said "It's two-thirds gone". I replaced that tire only to find out later that it was only one third gone. Obviously he had no idea how much tread was on that tire. Had a great experience at new Britain Firestone this week.i want to thank Jon young for his help with my car. I came in to get tires and he showed me some uneven tire wear on my vehicle that I wasn't aware of and I bought new tires. I also purchased an alignment upon jons recommendation to alleviate the poor tire wear and strange pattern that had developed on my tires as a result.well, when I say my car drove like new again when I left is an understatement. It was quiet and smooth and miraculously a mysterious vibration a had was now gone. Thanks Jon will continue to service my car with you. As I now plan to keep it much longer . You can't say the service people aren't friendly but that's literally the only thing this place has going for it. You feel great talking to the people but then it turns out none of them know how to do their job. Here's one example. My mother went to get her brakes done. A few days later her car was making a strange noise, so she brought it back in, and it turns out they didn't attach the break pads correctly, so she was 1 pot hole away from driving with no breaks. I brought my car down there, they told me it would be a week and a half at the very latest until all the work was done on it. When I called a week and a half later, they started dodging my phone calls. I tried to call with the contact number I provided, they wouldn't pick up. I called with a different number, they answered right away. And when they did answer, at first, they told me it would be done later that day, but when I called later on for an update, suddenly my car won't be ready for another week. You can't skate by with your friendly demeanor and expect me to keep coming back. This is the last straw. As soon as my car is returned to me, they will never see another cent of my business. Edit: I had to come in and add this new piece of information. It turns out, the month they held my car to "fix" it, they completely trashed my entire coolant system and lost the cap for my car's antifreeze container, so it's been spilling antifreeze all over my engine for months. My temperature gage is completely haywire and to fix the damage that has been done to my car (at a different garage because clearly these schmucks are just trying to scam you out of your money) it's going to cost me $1000 at the minimum. Avoid this garage. Avoid it like the plague. It is the epitome of trash business. read more

The guy in the front counter isn't really friendly, I notice taking others customers his lack of interest attending the customers in front of him, with covid the lines are long and he took an average of 25 minutes just to attend every customer because he just walked away to the back room or get distracted using the phone, I took une of my vehicles to a simple emissions test he said I may take at least 2 hours, I left my car keys and he said he will call me a soon they completed the emissions test, this never happen, today I returned to firestone New Britain to know the status of my vehicle no one was in line and he just ignore my presence because he was planning his lunch and asking others what they like to eat, finally some else ask me if I need help and he provided my car keys and emissions results. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because I love the staff at this Firestone...very friendly and welcoming. I have been going to Firestone (Cromwell and New Britain) for the past couple of years for tries and routine oil changes. A few months ago, I took my car to the New Britain location for an oil change. After the oil change, I was driving home and started to smell what smelled like something burning. I pulled into my parents driveway and my dad found oil splattered all over the engine and hood. I decided to give this location another shot and had great luck with oil changes and tires until recently. A couple of weeks ago, I went here when my car started overheating. They determined cause was the water pump. I got that replaced along with a thermostat, and an oil leak for $1080. Not even 2 weeks later, my car started shaking and the check engine light came on. I immediately took it to Firestone where they determine it was a damaged PCV valve. They needed to order the valve from my dealer and thought it would be covered under a recall they found, so I decided to just take it to the dealer. This morning I dropped my car off at the dealer. A couple of hours later, I got a call from the dealer stating there were multiple safety and mechanical issues with my car. The dealer could not believe Firestone did not notice or tell me about any of these issues. My car was not safe to drive. After this...I'm not sure I'll ever be returning to Firestone. read more

I dropped my car off for brake services this morning and just got a call back 4 hours later telling me how much it cost to replace the rear brakes. AND THEN!!! Told me that my tires are cracked and need to be replaced for $450. I just got the tires from them 3 years ago with about 20,000 miles. That's not even half of the life of the tires. Another thing that disappointed me was they didn't give me back a 2-years old tire as they promised when I changed my tires, and they charged me a fee for disposal. Oh, one more thing from this morning when I asked about alignment. The guy instantly starting selling me the life time package, and wasn't happy that I told him I have one with them. My dad told me usually the front brakes go before the rear. But the guy, Larry who called me, told me my front brakes are okay. When I made my appointment 2 days prior I put 2xs in the notes how I wanted synthetic blend 5w-20 which goes for my v6 auto 08 accord. Also when I got there I told them I had an appointment. And repeated 5w-20 synthetic blend. After car is good in a good amount of time and I got my receipt they played me by putting the cheap oil (standard) aka conventional. Today i found a big puddle under my car and it's leaking oil, now i have to miss a day of work to take it back tomorrow so they can fix the problem. Had an appointment for 2 tires at 12 and arrived on time. It is now 1:15 pm and my car is still in the parking lot. I was told it would take about an hour to complete. Just demand my keys back, and the guys said let me see where they are with that. I said I have been sitting by the window for the past hour and its still where I parked it. He said he would get them on it right away. I said you have 20 minutes, you charge $115 per hour because time is money and my time is valuable to. He ran out and when he came back in he said he has 2 guys tag teaming it. At 2pm the car was pulled out of the bay and parked in the back of the building. This place is a complete joke. My husband goes in today and asks for an oil change. We leave the car and they call and say it is finished. When we get there they did not even do the oil change but instead an alignment!! This same shit has happened the last 5 times he has used them. He went there to have his winter tires taken off and again we get there and they didn't do it even though they called and said that they did. They install a new battery and a week later it dies. Brought in a car with ac issues, oil change, and one other minor issue. I tell them not to do any work besides the oil change until I get a quote. Literally 1 hour later the guy comes out and says...I did this, this and this to the car and says I need new tires and my car is completely unsafe to drive without them. This is the second time on a different car this place tries to sell me tires and states I have a very unsafe car without them. He literally wanted 1,200 dollars for all the work when I was quoted a few hundred at another facility. When I said I just want the oil change he had an upset look on his face. He came back with the bill for 150 dollars...He explained he had already had to do all this work to it since he needed to investigate issues. Usually an inspection is 10-30 dollars but hey lets not go there and especially since I told him not to do any work without a quote. This place is a rip off and all they care about is up-selling you. "You can just charge it and it will be interest free for 6 months." Get real buddy. No one wants to dump that much money on a 1999 vehicle. I would try to get my money back but I doubt it would do any good. Do yourself a favor and never come here unless you want to be ripped off and suckered. read more
