They decided to take nearly 2 hours to tell me they were not capable of doing such a simple thing and attempted to hustle me out of $1000 for all new tires which would have been 100% unnecessary and only added to senseless waste of perfectly good tires. I hate to give this rating because most of the employees are very kind. I do believe management pressures them to upsell even when unnecessary, which probably brings in a lot of money especially in situations like mine, but also probably loses potential repeat customers when they realize what happened. I'm a small local Turo host and Turo required an annual safety inspection. So we decided to take it to Firestone and get an oil change for both of our cars at the same time as the safety inspection and be on our way. Imagine my surprise when my safety inspection came back failed! On a four year old car with less than 31,000 miles on it. We had even asked politely that if anything failed to not fill out the form, as we only had one form and were unable to print another due to hurricane what are you power outage. They failed the vehicle for tire tread, noting that all tires had tread of 6/32 or 7/32. The threshold for Turo is 4/32 (and that is in writing on the form as well) so it was clearly a passed inspection, but they filled out the entire form and failed it, telling us we would have to get new tires. The tires are pretty new, with less than 31,000 miles on them and heavy tread for off-roading. We had to take our vehicle elsewhere to get reinspected and the form completed so I could get the vehicle back on the road for my customers. The other place said the tires are fine and could last quite a while longer. I feel like they were trying to maybe take advantage of our situation and get us to buy new tires, knowing that failing our inspection prevents us from renting the car and getting our income. And while I understand times are tough and maybe they pull a commission for tires, we are in the same tough situation and did not appreciate the extra time and effort that had to be expended to get the vehicle reinspected and to go in and ask for a refund of the inspection fee. By the way we priced tires elsewhere and were able to find them for less than half of what we were quoted by Firestone as well. I will say that after we quickly discussed the situation the employees were very open to refunding us the inspection fee, which I appreciated very much, as I was not looking forward to any argument. I would have loved to be able to give a good rating and give my continued business, but now I will not come back because I don't trust them. I also found some random parts thrown on the floor of my car which I assume should have been put back somewhere during the oil change, but I'll just have it remedied elsewhere. Worst experience with a business ever in my life. I made an appointment for a specific time, when I arrived after driving 1.5 hours and changing a flat tire on the way, there was 5 vehicles up in the air with nobody working on them. I dropped off the vehicle; she gives me a price and tells me it would be a couple of hours. Ok..... my appointment was for right now, but I'll go walk around town and wait for the call. She calls me after 1.5 hours, hadn't touched the vehicle yet, trying to triple the price telling me it should be 6x but she's "trying to work with me" by tripling it. She said she forgot to charge me the labor. That is like forgetting the meat in a hamburger. I got my key and left never to return. I don't remember her name, and I don't care what it is, she is the most incompetent store manager I have ever seen. The way she gets smug when you decline her upsells 3 times in a row makes me believe it's all about the commissions, and if you don't offer any potential commission for her, she doesn't want you there. I don't know who is hiring the managers for this place, but they should let someone else do it. -5 stars. If this company can let someone this toxic and incompetent run their show, I have zero faith in anything they do, just read the reviews. How many people does it take to make the point? Waited 10 minutes at the counter with no one in sight only for a man to finally come out and just stare at me with a look like I just broke into his home and he didn't know why I was there lmao. No hello or anything just a stare like he wanted to fight me? When I said I was here to pick up my vehicle that was towed there he said "What? I don't know anything about that. I don't know what's going on with your vehicle" OK? He finally found the keys and when I asked where it was he acted SO RUDE as if I was crazy and said "Lady I don't know where your vehicle is or what's going on with it". Sir who else am I supposed to ask?! I checked to make sure I was in fact inside of a Firestone and not an ice cream shop because he seemed upset that I had the audacity to be there to pick up a vehicle that they had just called me about to tell me was ready. Spent half an hour in their lobby waiting on an appointment I made to get my tire plugged. The guy came up and I explained I had an appt at 9 for a flat repair and he told me he doesn't do flat repairs. He said he doesn't take appointments for flat repairs. I made this appointment Wednesday and today is Friday. He said I could leave the car with him and it might be done by the end of the day, but likely not. I said forget it, I'll figure out something else. Took my car to another tire shop and they fixed it in half an hour, with no waiting for staff to come around. Skip this place!!!! Our first day in Kona and we got a flat tire in our rental. Not able to repair with a patch, so I was looking for a tire and this was one of the only places with the tire I needed. Lilah, who helped me in person and over the phone, was very unhelpful and unprofessional, she told me to go somewhere else. Even with authorization from the owner of the car to go ahead with the purchase, she still refused to help. Don't stop there, don't even slow down! The worst experience I EVER had with ANY business. I bought four tires at TireRack.com and had it shipped directly to this place since it was their recommended installer. I made a 10AM appointment for the service, which was quoted $106.40 on the web site, and confirmed by e-mail too. When I showed up they said it will be $290.00, and they said they don't care about TireRack.com, or what the web site said, they can charge whatever they want to. If I don't like it I can take my tires wherever I want to! (They actually repeated this several times!) The Store Manager ("Kyle") also said they don't like people who have tires shipped there anyway, and my car will be ready by the end of the day! (He wasn't just unprofessional, he actually was very rude!) They didn't care about my scheduled appointment either! I really had no choice, the tires were already there, and I drove 30 miles there based on the TireRack.com "Recommended Installer" status. My car was eventually done by 3PM, five hours later! I am in a process of contacting both TireRack.com and Firestone Corporate Headquarters to pursue this matter further. BTW, I didn't notice it until I got home, they replaced my BMW-branded tire valve caps I had on the old tires with cheap plastic ones! Obviously, I was not going to drive 60 miles R/T back there about it. If there was an option for negative stars I wouldn't even hesitate to select that but since there isn't, they're lucky to be getting one star from me. I honestly don't know how this business is still going or how the manager, Kyle is still working there. And honestly reading the other reviews I can see why nobody likes this place. I came in for an estimate on breaks because a friend of mine recommended me here since she knew one of the employees and trusted them. I understand how brake changes work and how much they should typically cost but I wanted to speak with a professional and was honestly just looking for a good trust worthy place to go to. Kyle was just straight up rude regarding my questions and concerns acting as if I should just know all of this shit like he isn't the one working in an auto repair shop and he isn't a mechanic? Sorry for assuming you would do your job? I am an extremely polite person and I have respect for others unlike this man so it takes a lot for me to have to say something. The employees on the other hand were much nicer. Just as I was leaving one of them approached me stating that they had overheard my conversation with Kyle and actually referred me elsewhere which i'm glad they did because I did not want to spend a single minute more there or waste a single penny either. I feel for the employees because they seemed extremely nice and concerned in which Kyle completely lacked. I personally would not want to work there with him as a manager and I couldn't imagine it. I tried to call ahead to see if they even had the tire I needed in stock; five attempts, no answer and no option to leave a call back. So I drove 45 minutes to check in person. I waited 10 minutes for someone to even come to the counter. Employee is in dire need of a customer service class! He stated they didn't have my tire in stock and likely wouldn't. I stated I had tried calling several times and asked if I had the correct number...nope! I stated that I had driven 45 minutes to a place WHERE THIS EXACT TIRE had been fixed not barely a year ago..."don't know what to tell you, Brah." Terrible service! In January 2020 I took my 2006 Prius to Firestone to have the rear struts replaced. When we picked up our car the ride was very rough. It seemed worse than before. We brought it back twice and they worked on it and said it was fixed. We decided there was nothing we could do and maybe that is just how it rides with new struts. December 29, 2021, two years later we took the car to a mechanic to have the front brakes replaced. We asked him to look at our poor ride. He said the right strut plate was metal on metal and the pad was improperly installed. I discussed this with Kalahikiola Ikeda, the manager and he told me the warranty is only one year in spite of it being improperly installed and he would not do anything. Made an appt a week in advance to have 2 rear tires installed (rear are a different size than the front) When I got to my appt they quoted 2 hrs for a wait time, when I was notified my car was done and went to pick it up I found it they replaced my new front tires and recommended I replace the rear tires right away! I advised them the appt was for rear tires and my front ones were still new. The staff told me they would fix the problem and install the new rear tires right away. So I wait another 1.5 hrs to get my original front tires reinstalled and the rear tires I ordered put on. By the next morning I found my drivers side new rear tire to be flat. I put air in it so I could get to work and began calling the shop right away to notify them, after 20 calls and no answer I stopped in after work but they decided to close early. Mind you it was a weekend and they are no longer open on weekends. I had to put air in the rear tire for a second time before I could drive home. Once home I was going to put my spare tire on so I could at least drive my car over the weekend, but the staff tightened the lugnuts so tight they were impossible to remove. By Monday morning and putting air in my tire 2 times a day I got my car to the shop to have them look at it. They now advised me my rim had a crack in it and refused to assist in any way. They even tried to tell me I needed to leave the store as they wouldn't take responsibility and I was upset as expected to be. My tires have never leaked before this encounter. The staff even sat rolling their eyes and being beyond rude! I went to Mercedes to get a quote for 1 new rim, mind you a replacement rim is $1800! Take accountability! Ok, yesterday was chapter 2 of my ordeal with Firestone. I had received a confirmation on a 10am appointment. I arrived a few minutes early and was told the service would take about 1.5 hrs. I waited for a technician to take the pickup in. And waited and waited. Finally, about an hour and 3/4 later the service began. The service was completed in about another hour. That is about what I have come to expect timewise. But I am now feeling a bit cheated, as well. The service was to balance 4 almost new tires, mounted on wheels I brought in. Then to put them on the pickup in place of the ones that had been on. Then to dismount the old tires from the rims and give me the rims. The old tires would go to recycling. The costs verbally were about $72 for balance and $35 per wheel for the dismount. I knew it was high but decided to go ahead, thinking that we were dealing with standardized pricing. Afterwards, when I was back at home and could study the invoice, I saw that what I was being charged for, on the $35 per wheel, was complete "tire installation". So I paid for dismounting the old tire (the easy part) as well as for a new tire mount, which was not needed, nor part of the deal. This was a borderline scam and I could kick myself for not questioning the charges immediately. My take on it is that 1/2 of $35/tire charge should have been waived. Or, instead of a $238 total bill, it should have been $70 less, or about $168. Never again. read more

My alternator died on Kuakini right in front of Firestone. I was so thankful that a repair shop was so close! I went in the office at 4:30, with the shop closing at 5:00 and they said they couldn't get to it until the next day, completely understandable. However, they made no attempt to offer any sort of help to get my car 100 ft up the hill to the parking lot. As far as he was concerned, they were closed, gates closed as well. 30 minutes prior to closing time! Most shops have a power pack to hook to the battery to get me 100ft to the parking lot, but no offer of any kind. After reading the other posts, it's probably best. took me a while to write about this cause i normally dont do this kine stuff but it didnt sit right with me. came here to mount tire. they told me they had to check the tire out but i understand cause employees explained that tire gotta reach requirements for safety and liability. this employee said they were new so they wanted to go check with the boss and show the tire to be sure. this lady came out wit attitude asking me like 'brah how come you had patch your tire on your own?' she slunded like she was yelling too. i explain to her that i had went to lex brodies and they said was unpatchable so i patched it myself cause they was trying to sell me one new tire. the lady said they wouldve been able to patch it and i shoulda called them first. boss came out and it felt like he was talking down to me. i read one review on here saying this guy came out like he wanted to fight and i think its the same guy because thats how i felt. i asked how come cannot mount the tire if i patch it myself just to understand cause i was little bit confused and the guy just kept saying 'brah we cannot patch your tire.' the new employee helped me roll my tire out and load it and apologized that they were not able to help me today. how the new people get way more class then the person running the store? unbelievable. i feel bad for the people who have to work with the other two. for the young people thinking of coming here or already do work here please find a place that help you grow and care about you guys. not some place wit people that act like that. read more

Why isn't there negative stars they need to put them in for this one. I bought a used truck from a guy brought it in for a oil change, rotation and inspection. First issue was told yes be done in a hour and a half, ( I used to be a employee of Bridgestone Firestone they train you to say that even though they know it's not going to be a true): So got my truck there early waited and waited and waited finally just told them I am walking home and call me when it's done. They never did call I called them around 430 oh it's being pulled out now they told me so I went down and guess what it was sitting still in the air. So I waited then I saw why they didn't have the oil cause I saw the parts guy deliver oil. So finally my truck is ready get home noticed my washer fluid light on huh they never topped the washer fluid, so I decided to check my oil guess what it wasn't even on the hash marks that means it was at least 2 quarts low on oil. Went in next morning the lady behind the counter was indignant and looked at me like I was some kind of dumbass but took the truck around and a hour later oil was topped. What was it topped with who the hell knows but I can guarantee it wasn't with the same synthetic oil that was put in it the first time around. Well ok off we go, later that week we had to run to Hilo to pick up a new chair I get half way down the back side of saddle road and my brakes that were just checked ( supposedly) are now grinding and pulsating badly get into Hilo my front brakes are metal to metal and rears are not far behind. I ended up having to do new rotors and pads on all four wheels. Which I would of been happy to do with firestone but they instead ignored, or Were just to incompetent to check them. Went in for an alignment & two hours later they said they couldn't get it done because of worn lower ball joints. So they estimated a job of $300 for the ball joint, prior to them being able to do the alignment. I took it to a mechanic to test the lower ball joint & they said it looked fine. Firestone just looked to make money. Take your car to Trent's Alignment if you want someone who knows what they are doing. This review is not like the others! Ok so from the looks of it this firestone hasn't had the best run of customer service employees. I have to say that it's definitely under a new regime because the service I received was AMAZING! And I can't say that enough. So I live in Hilo and was in kona for two days for work. I was staying in downtown kona and on my way to my hotel when I realized my front tire was hissing air and deflating as I was driving down the highway. So I quickly hopped on yelp and saw that lex Brodie's was the only place open at 5:30 on a Wednesday. So I quickly made my way there to only get turned away with some of the rudest customer service I've experienced on island. SHAME ON LEX BRODIES! So as I'm sitting there and my tire is going flat after getting rejected by them I saw that firestone was just down the street and within walking distance from my hotel. I realized they weren't open at the time but I figured I could leave my truck there and then return first thing in the morning to get it fixed. Online it says they open at 7am so I returned the next morning @ 6:45 only to read on the door they didn't open till 8. Little frustrating but it is what it is. Anyways I finally got in at 8 and they got to work on a patch on my tire. The worst case scenario happened tho because they quickly informed me that my tire wasn't patchable. This was devastating as I didn't have anywhere enough cash for a new tire and a tow company had recently broken the rim on my spare. I was just about to melt into the floor when Justin, the manager, informed me he could work something out. He gave me a tire at a DEEP discount and installed it for me and had me on my way in under an hour. I cannot say this enough but THANK YOU JUSTIN! Thank you firestone for hiring employees like him that care about customer service! I hope to see that this location can turn their bad run around. I took my 2007 Honda element to them for new tires and got an oil change at the same time. They did not reset the oil indicator on the dashboard but something bothered me. This morning I got under the car and saw that they didn't change the oil filter, it was the same filter that was put on for months ago at the local Honda dealership. Mahalo to the staff at Firestone for their fast, courteous assistance with a problem with our car. We had an engine light come on and were trying to establish what the problem was before driving to the dealer in the other side of the island. The counter staff came right out with their diagnostic tool and gave us a printout if what the car's computer was saying. We were able to take that info and order the parts to repair the car without a long trip and overnight stay. Went in on Sunday morning with a nail in a tire. They removed the nail but, because of how they removed it the tire was ruined. They immediately admitted their mistake -without my having to ask-and gave me a replacement tire at no cost. Honesty and integrity. I will give them my business in the future. read more

Bought 4 new tires and had them mounted. Even paid for the extra warranty. Three days after I bought them 2 of the tires were leaking. The tires that I had replaced didn't leak. I went back to Firestone and was told that they were leaking because my rims were old and that to clean them with a wire brush would cost extra! So, I just spent almost $500 for new tires that don't hold air. When I told the employee that my mechanic says that cleaning with a wire brush should be included in the mounting charge, I was told that it's not at Firestone. I then told him that my mechanic suggested that I leave and take my business elsewhere. His response was, "Ok." Thanks Firestone. I'd used you in the past for maintenance, but I'll NEVER use you again. And I will be telling everyone I know to avoid you. No Aloha here. read more
