The starter went out in my daughter's car, so she had it towed to Firestone in Corvallis. they overcharged her for the new starter, and also installed it wrong. In their installation, they didn't bother with crimping on a terminal clip from the ground wire of the new starter, and instead just wrapped the bare wire around the post, no insulation on it and no nut to hold it on the post. See photo. Additionally, and without her approval, they billed her $42 to charge the battery. When she brought the car home, I tested the battery and it showed that they only charged it up to 70% capacity. Lucky break, I charged up the battery with my charger. The next day, the car would not start at all. Fortunately, I was able to reach the starter connections from the top side of the engine compartment and discovered that the voltage supply plug had not been fully seated to the pin assembly on the new starter. Lucky break here again. All in all, their bill was about $150 over the normal cost for this job, and we only have to pay for another mechanic to fix Firestone's crap installation of the ground wire. Come on, a terminal clip only costs about 10 cents and would have only taken the tech about 30 seconds to put on the end of the wire. That is one lazy tech. Unacceptable work, and based on the reviews that I read in this forum, I'd say we got out cheap. Wish I would have done my due diligence and researched the Yelp reviews before allowing my daughter to bring her car into Firestone in Corvallis. That is all.

I don't care how many cars you have to service, 8+ hours for an oil change and tire rotation is pure insanity!

I love Les Schwab! I bought my brand new tires there about 3 years ago? When I had a flat, I…read morecalled them and asked for their help, I had no way of getting my tire there to be fixed. They sent a man out with a truck, and got my tire, put my spare on, and then took my tire to the shop to fix it. I went to the Shop the next day and had my newly fixed tire put back on my car. Talk about *Great* Service! I am a Senior, and I remember when this was the kind of service you "used to get" Everywhere you went, years ago. Remember when you'd go to a gas station and they'd check your oil, and wash your windows? they don't do that anymore sadly. it would be really nice if they would. but Service is Not like it used to be. I asked a gentleman at a gas station if he'd mind checking my oil one day, and he said "we only pump gas Miss." I was like what......? It was if I had asked him to do the impossible! Now, most places charge you ridiculous prices for doing Everything! so I am a pleasantly pleased Senior, that is Very Happy and Pleased that Les Schwab has not forgotten How to Treat Their Customers! very *Professional* and Awesome service! I give them 5 Stars! Proudly!

I had a simple brake job done on my Prius and they messed up the parking brake. The emergency brake…read morepeddle suddenly was going all the way to the floor. At first their mechanic said they lost a part to the brake cable. They had to order the full cable assembly from dealer to get the part they said was missing. When the assembly finally came, the next mechanic said the pedal was 'supposed to go all the way down' and they was nothing they could fix. I said if they cant fix it correctly I would take it to the dealer and have them do it right and send them the bill. I took the car to Toyota - they said it was a simple repair and now the parking brake pedal is like it should be - ie. when set it stops about two inches off the floor. I cant believe a professional mechanic would blow off a customer who obviously knows something about cars. I hate to imagine what they do to people who dont know any better. I will never trust this shop with any repair again.

Les Schwab Tire Center - They are deeper looking when you see them in person.

Ruined 4 Aluminum wheels; no empathy…read more Brought our pride and joy SUV to get snow tires mounted. When they were mounted, I did a walk around to look over the vehicle (something I do normally with any repair), I could very easily see many deep gouges in the aluminum where some sharp tool was used to remove the balancing weights. Damage is severe - all 4 wheels, maybe 80 scratches total, too many to count. The manager first indicated something like 'this happens..' Which I did not accept. Technicians with typical skills could do this work all day every day and not cause this damage. This was unskilled and/or uncaring work, with the wrong tools, and clearly not inspected by anyone with any standards. The manager quickly said 'we'll make it right' but in such a casual, no-big-deal tone that was infuriating. Had I heard 'Wow, this is terrible. I'm deeply sorry.' it would have sucked less. I was offered that a company from Eugene would fix the wheels. I'm not keen on this, as I can't see how this could be fixed in a reasonable way. Also, given the gross nature of the problem, I have no reason to trust a repair vendor recommended by the same people who did this in the first place and I was a little troubled that the repair people seem to be called into service frequent enough that the name and number were so readily available. The manager did, later on the telephone, apologize somewhat. I'm filing my claim with Les Schwab today. Will update this post. (BTW, we have done snow tire swaps without issue for years at another local place without problems. I'm not naming names anywhere so this post isn't flagged and I waited 10 days for my fury to simmer before posting this.) This is a copy of my Google post. I'll update this one, too.

Just disposed of four moderately used tires (about 15k miles) at Les Schwab (9th St. Corvallis). I…read morehad called ahead and described the tires. The counter manager said he would take a look at them. When I arrived, he looked at them and said, they don't have quite enough tread" to be useful (As I had measured with a penny, they were several of mm deeper than the top of Lincoln's head). He then said they could dispose of them for $6. I agreed, and he took two of tires from the trunk while I got the other two from the back seat. As I approached the rack where they were placing them, I heard him reading off the tire size to a co-worker (making me think they may in fact have a use for them)!?! Next he told me that for four tires the disposal cost would be $16. Until now I have always been please with Schwab pricing and service. This interaction seemed less than completely forthcoming.
