A lot of mechanics forget this and would rather me pay the "genius mechanic cranky tax", bill me, and call it a day. No bueno. I came for an oil change and left both times in a GOOD MOOD (who can say that?!) - timely, friendly, knowledgeable, NO BULL$H*T (or cranky tax for competitive prices.) I also had a reoccurring noise and the manager (Jason?) took a shot at it - he won when everyone else failed and wouldn't give me the time of day! I called and told him he fixed it - he said dryly, "Wow. I never get calls when I fixed something." I'll be back.

Even if I weren't a girl going to a mechanic's, this would be a five-star experience…read more But, especially given the stereotypical experience -- you know, where a mechanic might try to sell the naive girl "headlight fluid" -- this was a refreshing experience. Jon, who is I believe is an assistant manager, was very friendly and candid. And when I had questions about a particular repair they recommended for our vehicle, he used a handy diagram, right there on the counter, to explain what particular terms meant. There wasn't a trace of condescension, nor did he use any of the common tactics, to try to pressure me to into certain repairs. He was just factual and friendly. Interestingly, another customer piped in at one point, to tell me what straight shooters they are, here. (He'd heard me on the phone, explaining the worse-than-expected diagnosis to my honey.) I think that says a lot, that a random dude wanted to vouch did the place. This location is very handy, if you're in the South Hills. It's in the same plaza as the Giant Eagle and Walmart, on Library Road, across from Brightwood.

I'm just baffled at this point because he's obviously lying and just a bit too busy to take me as a walk in which was so forced upon me the day prior with them not wanting to even book me an appointment. I had been a loyal customer for 11 years. Until recently, they provided consistently…read moreabove-and-beyond excellent service and always gave fair and honest accessments for all my car repairs needed on a mini cooper and mini countryman. When the countryman died of engine failure at over 110k miles, in June I purchased another older mini cooper. This is when our relationship changed. It was burning oil at an alarming rate, smoke was coming out of the exhaust, almost always after idling for a lengthy time and sometimes upon starting the car. I had it accessed by Murrysville Auto and a part replaced with the stipulation being that might and might not resolve the issue pointing to possible engine issues. Fair enough. I was glad to have honest information to make the decision. When it still exhibited smoke from the exhaust, I immediately made another appointment to have it reaccessed. This time, instead of Cody (owner) who always had relayed the information to me in the past, his mother, Jerrie (President) gave me info stating no further repairs were needed or recommended, that it was burning oil and the solution offered was for me to simply check the oil EVERY DAY. At this point, I questioned outloud to Jerrie in person if they were trying to tell me they didn't want my business any longer. She assured me that was not the case. We then talked and, with Cody in the conversation, as well, a rebuilt engine was found with a cost of installation being 15k. I agreed, thinking a total engine replacement would fix the issues. Before I could pay, I needed to transfer funds for next business day. In the meantime, a new light came on -- the engine reduced power light. This was a new symptom and my research showed it might mean more than an engine alone. I could not, with this new info, afford to pay 15k and not have a total solution so canceled the order for the engine. Now, Murrysville Auto lets me know the seller of the engine was charging a restock fee of 1600. This restock fee was not divulged to me on my paperwork which is unlawful and non-binding in PA. To just be done with the transaction and move on, I agreed to pay 1600. But then, Cody tells me it is actually more than 1600. I stand by the 1600 relayed to me and pay that. Soooo, bottom line I stand by my intuition that Murrysville Auto wanted to sever business relations with me, though I had been a long-time loyal customer and always paid my repairs in full, on the spot, with no questions on pricing or suggested repairs until this car purchased in June, less than 3 months and less than 1500 miles ago. By having Jerrie and not Cody give me the latest non-repair advice of simply checking oil EVERY.SINGLE.DAY which is ludicrous to charging and not divulging a restock fee (first, I would never back out of a contract except I had new vital info), it seems obvious that I will not be continuing my service with them for this car or any other. I have no idea what changed to come to their final ways of doing business, but it is what it is. They are not the same trusted business that I came to trust and rely on all these years.

I first brought my car to Murrysville Auto Clinic (MAC) so long ago that I honestly can't remember…read morethe exact year--it's been at least 15 years. What I do remember, however, is that from that very first experience onward, they have always treated me with honesty, respect, and fairness. That kind of consistency is rare, and it's the reason I've remained a loyal customer ever since. Over the years, I've recommended MAC to colleagues, friends, and even my own family members, including my father. A couple of them mentioned that they thought MAC might be "a bit too pricey," but I've always felt that was an unfair assessment. In my experience, their pricing is not only reasonable but also reflects the quality of their work and the integrity of their service. When you're dealing with something as important as your vehicle, "cheap" is not the standard you should be aiming for--fairness and trustworthiness are. And that's exactly what MAC delivers. One of the things that sets MAC apart is how often they've gone above and beyond for me. On several occasions, they've helped me out without hesitation and without expecting anything in return. That kind of generosity and customer-first attitude is almost unheard of in the auto repair industry. To me, that's worth far more than saving a few dollars at a shop that might cut corners or treat customers like transactions instead of people. My car is now 22 years old and has plenty of miles on it, yet it still runs like new. That's not luck--it's the direct result of the care and expertise of the team at MAC. They've kept my vehicle reliable and safe far beyond what most people would expect from a car of its age. That kind of outcome doesn't happen without skilled, dedicated mechanics who take pride in their work. What I value most about MAC is that they've earned my trust. In an industry where it's notoriously difficult to find honest and competent mechanics, I know I can rely on them to give me straightforward advice, do the job right, and treat me fairly every single time. Their loyalty to their customers is unwavering, and that's why my loyalty to them has never wavered either. In short, MAC is more than just an auto repair shop--they're a team of professionals who genuinely care about their customers and their community. They've earned my respect, my gratitude, and my continued business. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who values honesty, fairness, and quality in auto care.
