I've heard about this place, but I avoided it until recently, opting for either Omaha Cigar or Safari, both great Omaha establishments. I was content to smoke on my back patio by myself, but a good friend asked me to join him and I agreed. First off, it's a cool building with a lot of history. It used to be a garage, probably built in the 1910's or 20's, so very rustic. The owners put a lot of thought into it, from the specially made leather chairs, some huge, some diminutive so you don't have to feel like you're in one of those chairs at Silver Dollar City that everybody gets their picture taken in, to the special glass, HVAC, Humidor, etc... you can tell this was a labor of love. Secondly, the service is excellent! From the tobacco experts that will guide you through the humidor to the people who work in the 2 attached establishments. There is a speakeasy next-door, just pick up the phone at the front door, say "Joe sent me" and you are allowed into one of the finest drinking establishments in the 5 county metro, replete with all of your favorite beers and craft cocktails that are out of this world! Then, you have the Bellows, an outdoor, intimate music venue that sports 2 firepits, a stage, heaters for those cold nights, and plenty of seating. I was lucky enough to find out about an event that they were having with Toscano Cigars, where for a paltry sum we were treated to the history of that company, a package of cigars, cutters, lighters, and some great Italian food. Then we watched the full length version of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. It was an event to remember. After my 3rd visit, I realized that this is a family. People from all walks of life are regulars and they're all friendly. I think that their motto should be "Where everybody knows your brand

Upstairs is private, member only area. There is outdoor and indoor smoking allowed. Parking across the streets. I took the streetcar and a short walk to get there from my downtown hotel. Of course there are TVs, darts, pool tables, and plush leather seating plus bar stools with high top tables. Food nearby that can be brought in. The HVAC system clears the smoke pretty well. Every poet that graced the mic was passionate, imaginative, had originality, emotional depth and imagery. The garage door was open so it allowed a nice flow of circulation. The dedicated space is setup as a sophisticated escape for those with an appreciation of fine cigars. Sections of with plush leather couches, chairs and tables for singles and groups creating a setup for intimate groupings and conversation. The ceiling, the portraits, cigar-related imagery all around accent the leather seating. There's access to lighters, cutters and plenty of ashtrays. They also sell cigars. There's different levels of membership, some of which you get your own locker. I joined a table with two nice women who shared with me their cigar favorites and cuts, along with sharing lounge secrets. It was very relaxing and the drink- mezcal martini I ordered was delicious. I brought my own cigars so I was able to enjoy my favorites!

I frequent KC a few times a year and have had Fidel's on my list of cigar spots to visit. This time I had the chance and I'm so glad I didn't. Nestled in the heart of the eclectic West Port neighborhood is this funky little cigar joint that has a very good selection of sticks, a quaint lounge and best of all just good folks running the shop and chill peeps enjoying. Jason was the man in charge of the evening and he made the experience just that much more memorable. Well versed in tobacco we vibed and he highly recommended I try a Sans Pareil cigar...I'm embarrassed to say I had not heard of this brand, but I'm happy to have been introduced to it. I chose the Red which is a torpedo with an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper and Dominican filler and binder. I'll fast forward to say, from my pic you'll see I smoked it to the nub and nearly burned my fingers - yes, it was that good. Once well lit with a house complimentary cedar stick it burned evenly throughout and held a great ash. Just a very well made cigar. On item of note - it's BYOB! No corking fee. So, one tip - walk over to the local Sun Fresh market, which is a mere two blocks away, and is well stocked with beer, wine, and a decent selection of liquor. That's right, inside the supermarket you'll find the necessary goodies to complement your stick. Then just make your way back and enjoy your time at Fidel's. I'll be back soon Fidel's!

That changed when a buddy I haven't seen in a while invited me to this neighborhood meetup spot and everything about it was great. The vibes are immaculate; big, comfy leather couches everywhere, pool tables, a basement lounge, nice bathroom, water/soda available, and a walk-in humidor. It looks like what one might visualize when picturing a classy cigar lounge. We pulled up a spot with some of the other gents lounging about which adds to the whole communal element of this. The cigar I had was good, apologies I can't remember anything about it other than it kinda knocked me on my ass and I had to take a shower when I got home at the request of my kids who were like, "Whoa, Daddy STINKS!" Nice people, great vibes, good prices, and a perfect community gathering space in the Strawberry Hill neighborhood.
