Every poet that graced the mic was passionate, imaginative, had originality, emotional depth and imagery. The garage door was open so it allowed a nice flow of circulation. The dedicated space is setup as a sophisticated escape for those with an appreciation of fine cigars. Sections of with plush leather couches, chairs and tables for singles and groups creating a setup for intimate groupings and conversation. The ceiling, the portraits, cigar-related imagery all around accent the leather seating. There's access to lighters, cutters and plenty of ashtrays. They also sell cigars. There's different levels of membership, some of which you get your own locker. I joined a table with two nice women who shared with me their cigar favorites and cuts, along with sharing lounge secrets. It was very relaxing and the drink- mezcal martini I ordered was delicious. I brought my own cigars so I was able to enjoy my favorites!

Nestled in the heart of the eclectic West Port neighborhood is this funky little cigar joint that has a very good selection of sticks, a quaint lounge and best of all just good folks running the shop and chill peeps enjoying. Jason was the man in charge of the evening and he made the experience just that much more memorable. Well versed in tobacco we vibed and he highly recommended I try a Sans Pareil cigar...I'm embarrassed to say I had not heard of this brand, but I'm happy to have been introduced to it. I chose the Red which is a torpedo with an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper and Dominican filler and binder. I'll fast forward to say, from my pic you'll see I smoked it to the nub and nearly burned my fingers - yes, it was that good. Once well lit with a house complimentary cedar stick it burned evenly throughout and held a great ash. Just a very well made cigar. On item of note - it's BYOB! No corking fee. So, one tip - walk over to the local Sun Fresh market, which is a mere two blocks away, and is well stocked with beer, wine, and a decent selection of liquor. The lounge was a nice size without being too big or too small. Our section was located directly to the left as we walked in. The band was onstage giving an awe inspiring performance and the crowd was mature. I could already tell that this place is for grown folks and I was drawn in immediately. As we took our seats a server (or what I assumed was our server) came over and bought us some spirits inspired desserts. Our party continued to grow. When the band took a break I learned that we did not have bottle service or a waitress and had to place our orders at the bar. I was disappointed that even with a section we had to walk to the bar to order drinks. The drinks were good but overpriced. All in all I was happy to support a Black Owned Business while visiting Kansas City. The owner was nice and went onstage to congratulate our "Bride" and Thank us for being present. The bathrooms were clean and the night was amazing. Our bride had the most fun to say the least and we were given a standing ovation as we left the lounge. The line dances at G&C are also very fast-faced so if you are new to line dancing, definitely go on a teaching day. Thirsty Bull is on the opposite side of the spectrum. It is a smaller space with a much older crowd, TVs wrap around the place so it's a great place to catch a game, there's pool tables and other games I didn't check out myself and a mechanical bull for $5 a ride. The instructor at Thirsty Bull was awesome and all-around sweet dude. Unless they change the hours, line dancing lessons start Saturdays at 6:30pm. I couldn't care less for the drinks because I was there to dance. If you're visiting from out of town, Thirsty Bull is a MUST!
