Naked lady with cigar (next door?)
Clint L.

I don't understand. What's the goal? Is this a cigar bar? Is it a tobacco shop that only sells cigars but additionally sells alcohol? But patrons can't smoke there, but you can enjoy alcohol? You can buy the cigar and smoke it inside the Totally Nude strip club next door? Are they the same business? I still have no clue what the business model is. The bartender has to go into the humidor with you and babysit. The other patrons knock on the humidor door while bitching they want a drink. The bartender complains the entire time that she has to babysit you. The place is darker inside than the strip club. You can't see your hand in front of your own face. They have a picture of a naked lady smoking a cigar inside a place where you can't smoke a cigar, next door to place with naked ladies where you can smoke your cigar. But the bathrooms are very clean and the only light you'll see until you walk outside. I'm still confused.

The Humidor, inside the bar.

Great smokes. Got some Cubans from here and they were very reasonably priced. Plus a great smoke! You cant smoke them Inside but we took them up to P&L where all of the living room is a smoking section.

Great place to get a drink and get a cigar. You can't smoke the cigar in the building Missouri law doesn't allow.

Jazz Bar The Green Lady Lounge is an exclusively Jazz lounge featuring Kansas City Jazz musicians A little hole-in-the-wall with a cool, throwback vibe. Think speakeasy! The jazz bands were great--lively but not too loud--and we'll definitely be back. It's a perfect spot to hang out before or after dinner since they don't serve food. Even with a full house, our server checked in on us often. This two-level jazz club near downtown Kansas City was a fun find for us. We did not make it to the downstairs bar. We will save that for next time! The signage can be a little tricky to spot if you're not familiar with the area. Hummus & crackers for a snack My drinks: Mocktail - ORANGE-CRANBERRY MARTINI - Orange juice, cranberry juice, lime juice, simple syrup, grenadine, orange bitters, orange peel then I had the ETHAN ORANGE - Cold brew coffee, cinnamon simple, cream or oat milk, black walnut bitters, orange peel. Jons drinks: MANHATTAN - Rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, angostura bitters, cherry then he had a KANSAS CITY COFFEE - Rye whiskey, whiskey cream, cold brew coffee, simple syrup Total bill was only $70 We will be back! 1809 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO. #datenight #makingmemories #nightout #supportlocal #jazzmusic

Hands down the best and most inventive cocktails we had while visiting Kansas City! And who knew…read morethey would be located in an unassuming underground speakeasy situated on a corner at the edge of downtown KC in what some may consider a slightly seedy part of the city, especially at night...and even with all that, it is 100% worth a trip in! We found this spot on Yelp, of course, and made the trek on foot from one side of KC to here. In hindsight, we should have Uber'd or taken the rail car to get us closer, but lessen learned... As noted, the building is unassuming and the only giveaway to their location is the patio filled with seating, lights and fire pits, plus the large door with initials on it. But you definitely have to be looking for this spot to find it. Upon entry you take an immediate right and head down the stairs where you are greeted then led into bar area. There are several varieties of seating set ups from cozy plush seats, to communal high tops, side tables and a small bar with a few bar stools. We lucked up and grabbed a few seats at the bar, which were easily the best seats in the house. I was after an espresso martini and I heard this place had a phenomenal one, but before I enjoyed that as my night cap, I went with The Lovers, which is an baked pie whiskey based drink that was absolutely delightful and tasted like a warm apple pie over ice! It was much smoother than anticipated and was very easy to drink. Once I got through that, for round two I went classic espresso martini which was absolutely divine! Classic, smooth, a little bite, three beans and all the warm and fuzzies this drink brings! The cocktail menu is impressive and filled with lots of creative, inventive and fun cocktails. There is a legit something for everyone. They are a cocktail bar, but they have a few snacks including mixed nuts and a charcuterie board on the menu as well. We didn't have either, but the boards looked tasty when we saw them pass us by. Service was excellent. The bartenders friendly, engaging and clearly passionate about cocktails. They made our time at the bar a bit more enjoyable beyond just sipping our drinks! Overall, absolutely stellar spot for cocktails in Kansas City! Add it to your list now!

Best first impression ever was seeing her smiling face upon arrival. We love a good speakeasy and this place does it right. The atmosphere inside is so special with amber lighting and cozy corners to sit and enjoy the vibe. The drinks were inventive and fun. This is the perfect spot for before or after dinner drinks. We look forward to trying out the new patio soon! Thanks for a wonderful date night!

I like to couple this spot with dinner at JJ's next door…read more The Monarch is says somebody spent some MONEY decorating this place. Plush velvet, marble, a giant butterfly chandelier, lists upon lists of spirits. The whole thing is wildly opulent. Even the restaurant admits that no expense was spared creating the space. I ordered a Manhattan up, because I am incapable of ordering anything else. The bourbon selection is excellent, the cocktails are serious, the ambiance is everything, it feels so sophisticated. Whoever decorated this place... congratulations. You deserve an award.

Drinks were good. Service staff was rough…read more We had a reservation but there was no one to greet us. We looked around for a minute before a server noticed us and was like "uhhh we'll put you here at the end of the bar." Our bartender was fine but the other guy was doing all this flare and nonsense to get everyone's attention. He was the loudest person at the bar and inserted himself in our conversation twice. He clearly wanted attention which we found annoying and distracting. The drinks were good and the vibe was generally good. A nice eclectic mix of people. The DJ was great too! The service staff seemed very rough in both their interactions and their appearance. I hadn't been here in years, but I remember it being a far more refined and polished experience than what he had last night. Lastly, I don't think our $50 deposit was applied to our check. I forgot about it until this morning and didn't bring the receipt home. We each only had one drink and my total charge was $52. Not the end of the world but just another point in how they don't appear to be as on top of their service as I've previously experienced.
