    Smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket
    Elaine M.

Came here for lunch on the Sunday of Mother's Day and the place was packed! I think we arrived at just the wrong time because there was quite a long line. I had the Smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket sub. Wish that I had put mushrooms on it. The sandwich itself was a little skimpy on filling but had really good flavor and I love the Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce on it! Biggest complaint was that there was no lemonade available in the machine, diet or otherwise. I have recently given up diet beverages and have taken to making Arnold Palmers instead to cut down on the sugar (using unsweetened iced tea) but had to go with sweet tea here instead. Way too much sugar for me, left me feeling yucky all afternoon!

Service was quick but the server kept interrupting me to ask about extras. Novel idea, clam up and you'll get the answers you need without irritating me. I hate being interrupted when I am ordering. They are newly opened so likely just need some basic customer service training. Sandwich (turkey and cranberry for me) was delicious. Ordered a small; they have three sizes. I don't remember what they called them but they seem to be small, big, and too big for Hagrid. (Harry Potter reference). Overall good tasting and prices seem about the same as you would pay at Subway....without the variety. Though, to be fair, they did have choices that Subway doesn't. I went at 3pm and the place was very dirty. Floor hadn't been swept on quite some time and open tables were dirty. There were 8 staff members bumping into each other behind the counter and no one doing clean up. Better scheduling and work assignments would fix that (hint for owner). I'll try again another day once they have their game on. 2 stars for now.

Usually Subway is my sandwich place of choice but I stopped in here one night a few weeks back. Never having been here, I didn't know what to get. The girl behind the counter recommended the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket sandwich because that was her favorite. It sounded good to me so I went with it. I was definitely not disappointed. Its juicy and smoky flavored and big enough to fill you up. The meal here (adding chips/drink) is slightly more expensive than Subway but the quality is way better in my opinion. Will definitely add this place into my rotation when I'm somewhere that has one.

Nice lunch find by the wifey in Tupelo!…read more Food was mostly good, so let's start with that first. I enjoyed my meal and it was an amazing value. It think it was like $15 for meat, two veggies, and a dessert. C got the sphagetti with a side salad, roll, and black eyed peas. She had the shortcake for dessert. I had the pot roast with mashed potatoes & gravy, cream corn, with jalapeño cornbread. My dessert was a bread pudding. I don't do spaghetti so I didn't try C's. My pot roast was really good. I ate it all. Somehow I managed to not get any veggies in it though, that made me sad. Mashed potatoes were instant I would say, gravy too. What can you say about creamed corn? Cornbread was cold but had nice flavor. Bread pudding was fair, way too sugary imo. We ate in the back where all of the wooden patio is. Really cool set up. The stage is amazing. I wonder how often they use it. There is a really cool bar in the middle. This place is cool! The fans came on and created a nice breeze inside. I imagine in 100 degree Tupelo it can get steamy in there! It was a nice fall day on my visit. I must say this, I think this place is strange in the way that it is set up. It has all the possible benefits of a nice buffet, but only to serve a meat and three type experience. It's a giant tease for a guy like me that wants everything he can see. I wanted to sample it all, but no. C says I should not dwell on things that are outside of my control but this place gives me the intrusive thoughts man. I want to grab the food and make a run for it! Why? Why show me all the food but not let me have it?!?!? Keep it on a hot table in the kitchen if you are just gonna tease me like that. I get that it is "cafeteria style", but it lacks the appropriate guards to keep my hands out of it. It also is having to be constantly staffed in two spots. I won't get into how much money I think they are wasting with this type of service set up. You need cooks, servers , food type servers, two different serving lines staffed with more people on each. Oh, ok I will get into it... Another pet peeve is also done here. You have real plates and silverware but you add a layer of disposable to the mix as well. This costs you more money and cheapens the meal in my opinion. I am sure it's for portion control, but they make serving utensils that offer portion control. To add to the visual ratchetness, it's a mixture of white styrofoam, black "patterned" styrofoam, and black polypropylene served on cream colored plates. Now. No one else probably gives a shit about any of that. No one will probably ever read this far anyway. It's all just journals and leaving bread crumbs for future Adam's for me I'd say. I am available for independent restaurant consulting. Large scale, commissary, and mom and pop places too. '25 - 111++++

We were headed back from AR from a graduation and while staying in Tupelo found this restaurant close to our hotel. Not from being around the area weren't real sure about it but only because we were not seeing a lot of food items we liked. However because it was close by our hotel and the star rating was high, we decided to try it out. Oh my gosh; I am so glad we did. Even months ago enjoying our food to now, I can still remember how amazingly tasty our food was. My hubby and I shared the Dirty Grains with greens and things. We both have never had greens in our lives, but our server told us they were very scrumptious at the Blue Canoe. She was spot on!! They were delicious, really the entire meal was DELISH!! I am so glad we shared the dish because it was a lot and very filling. Now the restaurants famous sauce that is made fresh every day is worth its weight in gold. Our server has been there a very long time and she said she is the gal who makes it daily. I can't really explain the taste but it is very, very tasty. We were so full and it as going to pass on dessert. Of course our server told us about their dessert that is #1 on the menu...Connie's Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding (pictured). Once again super scrumptious and worth every calorie. If you are new to the area I highly recommend a trip to the Blue Canoe. It doesn't look like much outside and inside it can seem like a dive. It isn't because it's been around d a while and the ambiance is really cool!! The parking lot gets quite full and was just a bit challenging to maneuver our large 250 GMC truck but we managed. This place is a gem and well worth our visits when we are traveling through. I'd love to go when they have live music but not sure when we will be driving through.
