For starters, taking our order was challenging as the woman had difficulty understanding us, but we're patient with that and our immigrant friends. She took our order and we waited for a to-go order for 20 minutes , Then the problem was that the Manager rudely shouted "did you want a kids meal or a medium?" When I said medium, she said "well I need to charge you extra for that" so I walk over to the registrar and I pull up my receipt to show her what I paid and I realize that the kids meal came with a cookie and drink and they charged me an additional $4.29 for a drink and chips which was more than the difference between a kids combo and a medium sub. When I tried to explain that, the manager rudely said "What you saying?" and I explained again and then she said OK and walked away, they finished my order and gave it to us. No apologizes, no complimentary cookie or drink for their error. I was not rude to them and was willing to pay if I had shortchanged them. Three and a half stars for this first visit, but I'm happy I found this place on this side of town. Went in--wasn't very busy--only two other customers. There were two employees, equally pleasant. The young woman who took our order was so very helpful and I had the opportunity to let the owner know. In fact, having left my reading glasses in the car, she read the order my daughter sent me right from my phone to save me the trip back to my car. I went in on a week night to pick up subs and put my order in. There was a woman who ordered before me who spoke only Spanish. Apparently there was a misunderstanding with her order. She ordered a large sub but they made her a regular sized sandwich instead. The woman that took her order did not speak Spanish and did not understand that the customer wanted a large sub. However, the young man making the sub did speak Spanish and the customer told him she said she wanted a large sub. He spoke to the woman in charge who took the order and said that he was going to remake the sandwich for the Spanish-speaking woman. The woman in charge who took the order said that he needed to charge the woman for another small sandwich. The young man said he would not do that because then she would end up paying more money. The young man wanted to make the order right for the customer since it was a miscommunication but the woman that took the order would not allow him to do that so I told him that I would pay the difference. I paid an extra $5.00 to make this right but I think the manager should have handled this better being that there was a miscommunication. I was not happy with the lack of customer service or the way manager handled the situation. read more

And it was found inside the sandwich; the part I didn't bite into yet. But I am not mad, cuz the sub was good and their pricing is excellent . As par the subs, I ordered Spicy cajun chicken and engineer sub. My god , they were delicious. The bread was baked to perfection and the subs had perfect amount of cheese and toppings. Not too overloaded, which is how I prefer. The place was quiet and serene. I enjoyed looking around the place, it was kind of like a museum for firefighters. I had a great experience today. Kinda disappointed with this Firehouse Subs @ 891 E Commercial Blvd, Oakland Park, FL 33334 for not paying attention to details like not putting pickle spear as side inside the container and no napkins inside the bag. Quite expensive cost me about $9.43 for medium size of steak and cheese. Very nice place and employees. If not for my partner pointed out to my debit card still inside the payment machine. That was about almost five minutes I left the debit card. Wonder why didn't the cashier warn me about leaving the debit card. I ever didn't get my printed receipt at all. Grrrr. I felt and weight with my hand - not real heavy order. Publix and Subways restaurant subs always felt pretty heavy to get my money worth. By the way, pickle spear from my friend's order ( pickle spear supposed to be for my order, not his). I almost don't have a pickle spear if not for my partner's order. My favorite subs, without a doubt, is Firehouse! I love the Hook'n Ladder fully envolved on wheat! I got the combo and was not disappointed in the sandwich at all. These two haitian girls there just ignored me and when I went to the counter they were with each other giggling and talking in creole not taking my order.
