Watch out 'Bland Rapids' - you might be getting a reputation for good food! Hands down, the best KFC on this side of the state (maybe in the state as a whole!) By KFC, we're talking about Korean Fried Chicken, not what you get from the Colonel in a bucket. Flavors are off the chart and portions are generous, albeit a little pricy (as to be expected with a 'specialty food item'). The staff is friendly while the service is generally pretty quick. I am confused by my trip to Firefox & CM. I was lured in by the promise of traditional Korean fried chicken (chimaek). Chimaek is double-fried to create a signature glass-like shatter, then glazed or brushed with sauces (like soy-garlic or yangnyeom). What was delivered, however, was more like air-fryer chicken tenders. No shattering exterior any of the fantastic gloopy sauces. Instead, the sauces seem to be supermarket deli sauces in individual plastic packages. I might be suffering from a cultural misfire, but I've had chimaek in Los Angeles's Koreatown and also in a much beloved place in Edmonton, Alberta, and while this chicken isn't a bad fast food snack, this isn't chimaek. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the restaurant itself is tidy and well-lighted. No complaints there. read more

Fire fox is a small authentic Korean restaurant that has a fairly big menu to choose from. I usually get the beef foxy Ramen and it's always delicious and hits the spot. You order and pay ahead up front and they bring you your food when it's ready and it never takes more than 10-15 mins which is awesome. If I go to Woodland Mall i'll always make sure to stop at Firefox. The only thing I don't like is that they only use disposable tableware which isn't always ideal to eat out of nor is it great for the environment but makes it really easy to take leftovers!! read more

While visiting Grand Rapids with my family, we stumbled upon Firefox & CM Chicken. We figured we couldn't go wrong with Korean fried chicken and thankfully, we were not disappointed. Since my mom avoids spicy foods, we wanted to be sure we didn't order anything too spicy and the lady taking our order was very helpful and assisted us with ordering foods that were mild enough for her. Since we wanted to try a few different flavors, we decided on the Garlic Soy Chicken Drums, Curry Chicken Wings, Veggie Fried Rice and Fries. The menu included something that was intriguing to us called the Snow Onion so we definitely had to try that out as well. The food was ready fairly quickly and tasted amazing. The Garlic Soy and Curry had a very minimal spice level. The chicken was fried to perfection and the flavors were phenomenal. We chose the Snow Onion with the chicken tenders and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted. The sweet onions were sliced very thinly and were smothered in a lightly sweetened sauce. It was delicious!!! The Veggie Fried Rice was good but I'm sure it would've been better with chicken or shrimp. Overall, we had a great experience at Firefox & CM Chicken. There's plenty of seating for people that want to dine in but I believe most order to go. If you're in the Grand Rapids area, definitely stop in and try their Korean fried chicken. This was a delivery. The regular garlic and soy wings were spicy, inedibly spicy for me. That is why I did not order spicy wings. The bulgogi tasted ok but it made me sick with severe stomach pain. I was not sure what upset my stomach the next day but on that same day I felt a little better that night, finished the bulgogi (the only thing I ate all day), and back to having severe stomach pain. It's great to have a Korean fried chicken place in GR! There's plenty of parking, ordering takes place when you walk in, and there's not too long of a wait to get your food. You can grab water while you wait or they have other Korean beverages for purchase. The chicken is well flavored and very crispy. I wasn't a big fan of the curry cheese ramen, which you could make yourself at home, so I'd stick to chicken next time. I also got a side of seaweed salad, which came in a styrofoam cup. Super very pricy and their menu doesn't really explain what they have. You can use delivery apps to view their menu better. Their chicken is perfectly cooked and is crispy. It's really good. Also the spice level is always hot. It's more spicy than what you would expect. Right now I would recommend bringing a friend and sharing a couple entrees. They also need a fountain drink machine with free refills. Especially since the food is so spicy. That's another thing they are missing. Their items are cooked to order so there is a wait but be patient because it's worth it! The garlic spicy chicken is my favorite. It gives the right amount of heat but it also has flavor. You're not just eating fire haha. The chicken is juicy on the inside which is very enjoyable after your initial crunch. This is good chicken! We've also tried their beef, shrimp, and kimchi fried rice. It's very good, full of flavor and veggies. This is also served very hot and fresh. It's very good, a little on the greasy side, but hey you're at a fried chicken joint. We've visited a few times but haven't gotten around the menu yet. We've been to a CM chicken in VA and it was good so I got so excited when I saw that GR had CM Korean chicken! Wow.....We were blown away how amazing their food was...!!! We would've been just so happy with that but they went above and beyond with their fried rice, fried shrimp, TTEOKBOKKI and fresh kimchi!!!! I was craving some Korean fried chicken and wanted to try a new spot. I remembered seeing some reviews of this place on Yelp so I checked out their website. The online ordering menu was different than the menu on the website, so Nate and I decided to just head there and order for takeout. I'm still a little confused as it kind of seems like it's two businesses in one building - Firefox and then CMChicken, but I'm not sure. Either way, I was able to order everything I wanted at the restaurant: some garlic soy chicken tenders, the cheese chicken tteokbokki, and an order of mandu (dumplings). Our order only took about 10 minutes or so, and everything was super hot and fresh. It was packaged nicely to go but I wanted to dig in and try a bite of each item while it was hot! The chicken tenders were super crispy with a nice glaze of sauce. The sauce was a little sweet and a little savory, not spicy. I enjoyed these. The tenders were decently sized for the price. The mandu were super crispy and had great texture, they were a little bland inside but they had a sauce drizzled on them that was a little sweet and spicy, which I loved. There were five in the order. The cheese chicken tteokbokki was awesome! The sauce was definitely pretty mild, so don't be too intimidated by the bright red color. The rice cakes were chewy and cooked nicely and the addition of the cheese and crispy chicken tenders made this a complete meal - something I would crave often. I got my food delivered so Atmosphere and service will not be rated. I ordered a 10 piece Garlic Soy Fried Chicken Wings ($16). These were absolutely delicious! So so good, a perfect combination of Garlic and Soy sauce on some great fried chicken wings. I also ordered a Beef Bulgogi ($15) turns out I'm not a huge fan of Kimchi, but the beef was great. Slight sweet tasting and very tender. I found myself picking out the beef, and it was really good so I didn't mind. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. The loss of half a star is because I think the chicken at least is overpriced. Since I need to round, I'll forgive my price opinion and round up to 5. Would I return? The service was fantastic and we were shocked at how fast the food arrived. We ordered the Calamari and Mandu to start, and they were both delicious with enough to share. For our dinner, we shared 2 orders of wings, a Chicken Bibimbap, and a Beef Bulgogi Stone Bowl. Everything was great and we had plenty of food to share for the 4 of us. There's another solid Korean food restaurant in town! This restaurant is located within the Woodland Mall area, and is just across the street from the mall. There's a good amount of parking for the restaurant. You order up front and pay first, and the staff brings food to you. They have a good size dining area as well. For two people we ordered the starters Mandu and Fried Squid. The Mandu was delicious and came with 5 pieces. The fried squid had a harder fried exterior than I'm used to but the squid tasted good. For entrees we got the Foxy Galbi with Rice with comes in a large stone bowl with rice, kimchi, vegetables and the galbi. I thought the price of the galbi was appropriate for the amount of meat we got. We also ordered the Alio-Oilio Tteok-bok-ki, which was slightly salty but had a great umami/sweet/salty flavor combination. The total for two people including drinks was $48. read more

My last meal in Michigan and I'm glad I stopped by before I left! The fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and so tender and juicy on the inside! The curry tikku had really good seasoning and the garlic spicy chicken had the perfect kick! They were both so savory and delicious. The sweet sliced onions on the snow onion chicken was so sweet and pickled. It tasted like onions, but at the same time, it didn't! I also liked the sweet creamy sauce! Very interesting flavor. It took about 15 minutes for our food to be made. They don't serve fountain drinks, so we had to pour our own water from a pitcher and the whole time we were dining, the pitcher was empty and no one came to fill it up.
