I have been dancing competitively in international Latin for the past two and half years. I started going to Firebeat for regular lessons about a year ago and my dancing improved tremendously. I even started placing better in collegiate competitions in Boston, Connecticut and New York City. The coaches at Firebeat are very knowledgeable and engaged in my personal dance development. They look to bring out my personality on the dance floor all the while focusing on solid technique and fundamentals. The studio coaches are currently competing in the professional circuit, so are very in-tuned with the current happenings in the ballroom world. While I compete primarily in local competitions, the coaches at Firebeat bring a much broader and current worldview of competitive ballroom dancing to my lessons. They are always supportive of my goals, but also very encouraging of higher aims. The studio also promotes interaction with fellow students to help bounce ideas off of each other. This combination of encouraging coaches and working with other students creates a very positive and welcoming dance atmosphere. I have taken both the group class and the private lessons and learned a lot from each. The group classes are general technique classes that don't require knowledge of advanced figures. The format makes it easy to start whenever. The studio space itself is great. The floor is very easy on my feet and leg joints. Everything is brightly lit and there are mirrors all around to help checking my posture, movement etc. The surrounding area provides a lot of good food choices for after dance practice snacks. In summary, I would encourage anyone interested in competing in Latin Dancesport or just looking to develop their dancing in general to check out Firebeat regardless of what level of dance experience/background you have. read more

Great studio! Spacious, neat, tastefully decorated. Three dance floors, three excellent instructors - Ching, Andre, Brad. The studio has everything you may wish from a dance studio. I believe that the only way it has been achieved is that the owners - Ching and Andre - had a vision of the studio they wanted to create and then they put a lot work into it. And they did not compromise on their vision! The studio feels upscale in every possible way. The floors are updated - if you are a dancer you know how much it means for you when you spend hours and hours on the dance floor practicing! It has lockers if you need one, shower, changing room, office for private conversation with your instructor, filtered water, washcloths in place of paper towels... One of the things that impressed me there early on was that somewhere from my second visit or so everybody who worked in the studio started addressing me by my first name. As you can see - there is nothing left to chance ;-) While I admire the amenities and the atmosphere there - the main reason to come to Firebeat is the great instructors who work there. I took lessons with all of them - Ching, Andre, Brad - all of them are amazing! The best place in Massachusetts to come for the Latin instruction, that's for sure. To be totally honest in my review I will admit that the studio is expensive, but this is the very situation when you get what you pay for. read more

Why do I take lessons at Firebeat: a. I like the warm, friendly atmosphere of the studio, and the positive learning environment. b. I like that my thinking is consistently challenged during both private instruction, and group classes. In additional to technical development, I think the instructors also provide the tools for development of greater emotional expression in one's dancing. c. I like how a known syllabus figure or an open variation of a figure is often explored within a lesson as an example of how application of a particular concept can result in greater volume of movement, speed, control, and expressiveness. d. I like that the instructors provide a very clear break-down of the application of fundamental principles of movement for basic syllabus and advanced open figures in both private lessons and group classes. e. I like the fact that the coaches are also professional competitors. f. I enjoy practicing on the beautiful, comfortable floor. Even if I go to the studio in the evening after work, I think the floor helps keeps my feet and knees from getting tired. I would highly recommend this studio if you want to challenge yourself, grow your competitive dancing ability, and participate with other dedicated dancers in a positive and friendly environment. read more

I have been a student at Firebeat for the past two years. I have had the privilege of private instruction with Andre and most recently with Tatiana. Both Andre and Tatiana are accomplished professionals who continue to compete professionally and stay on top of their game. The instructors are eager to share the latest thinking in latin technique and choreography as they receive their coaching from world class coaches and bring it home to their Firebeat students. The studio atmosphere is professional and focused; dancers are always intently honing their craft! It is for those truly passionate about latin dance and who want to improve their skill level. However intense, the Studio maintains a friendly, family like feel and the instructors are caring to a fault with their students. I always feel that my teachers are rooting for me, and always encouraging me to keep on improving and stay with it. I am not sure how they manage to blend such warmth with such intensity and professionalism but they do and I am so pleased for my dancing to have had the privledge of learning and dancing with Firebeat. I would recommend this studio to any latin dance enthusiast!!!! NBF read more

Wow! This gem is tucked away but it shines bright. I've enjoyed a few private lessons with Andre, and found his instruction to be clear and precise. He quickly identified my natural strengths and we worked on a rhumba, adding steps as quickly as I was getting them down. At other places, i found myself getting bored well before new content was introduced, so this was a wonderful experience! Co-owner, Chin, is very welcoming and friendly. She gave me an impromptu dance history lesson when I mentioned my confusion around different categories of dance and it was a lovely 45-minute conversation (her notes hang on my fridge). I love the clean elegance of the studios, lockers, and a shower (!)...also appreciate the organized information boards on happenings and competitions, and the general sociability of the people there makes for a lovely inviting space. It's one of the most professional studios I've ever been at. I'm looking forward to advancing my dance experience into the ProAm competitions and I'm certain between the Firebeat community and the cafe's AWESOME soba noodles, I'll have all the heart, soul, and spirit I'll need. : ) read more

I began my journey at Firebeat Ballroom Studios in April of 2016 and have been going multiple times a week ever since. Joining this studio, has helped me find so much more love and appreciation for this incredible art form and for those who dance it. The staff at Firebeat, have created such a warm, friendly, and professional environment, where people can share their love for dance, together. There is endless opportunities for one dancing here - drop in social classes, alternating 6-week series courses, private lessons (which you do not need a partner for), and so much more! The instructors are very informative and are extremely patient and supportive. They strive to make sure their students' are obtaining the best possible experience. One of the most memorable parts of my experience here thus far, is the community. The students here, regardless of what level they stand, are so encouraging and caring of their fellow students. Overall, I truly have found a great blessing in Firebeat, their staff, and their students. Do yourself a favor, try something new and come on down to try a class, you'll be so glad you did. Firebeat Dancesport Studio is a special place because it combines a warm and welcoming atmosphere with exceptional instruction. The owners, Andre and Ching, are as dedicated to their students as they are to their dancing. Andre's technique classes are invaluable - he is both a renowned Latin dancer and a talented teacher, dedicated to giving Firebeat students a strong basis in technique. Firebeat pro-am students are especially lucky to have Ching, who started out as a pro-am dancer herself, and so has a unique perspective on what's it like to develop as a dancer. She's incredibly sensitive to her students' desires to achieve, and insightfully coaches them so that they can take their dancing to the next level. All the instructors who have taught at Firebeat in the time that I've been here have been incredibly dedicated to their students. I can't say enough positive things about Brad, whose unique combination of patience, expertise, and persistence make him an excellent teacher. If you're interested in learning ballroom dance, I highly recommend Firebeat. read more

I began going to Firebeat last summer after moving to Boston and taking some time off from dancing. I've never been a big fan to group classes, but Andre's (the owner) technique class changed that. Even though it is a group class, it feels like I am getting direct coaching. More importantly, Andre clearly has his students best interests in mind, something that eludes many coaches/instructors in the dance business. Additionally, the studio provides a level of hospitality like non other I have experienced. From the filtered water to the complimentary personal hygene products to freshen up after a long practice, its these little things that make a world of difference. Keep up the great work! Note: Firebeat is a DANCESPORT studio, not a a ballroom dance studio. If you are looking for a social dance, this is not the place for you. If you are a dedicated competitive dancer or interested in performances (regardless of wether you are a beginner or advanced dancer), willing to work hard, and invest in quality coaching, I highly recommend Firebeat. read more

Firebeat Dancesport Studios is top notch in every way!!! It is a tremendous asset to the dance community. I competed in Latin & Ballroom dancing prior to attending college in Boston and when I arrived to the new city, I immediately sought out the top professional to continue my training. Knowing I was a new to the city and might get lost, Andre, from Firebeat, met me at the T stop and showed me how to get to the studio. He was immediately able to cater his teaching to my needs and was an extreme pleasure to work with. From day one Andre's kindness and consideration made an impact on me and my dancing and it is reflected in the way he and all of the staff at Firebeat conduct their work. The world class professionals at Firebeat have tremendous skills and abilities that make them perfect for all people with a passion for dance- from beginner to advanced and young to old. By going to their studio you become part of their family. I highly recommend Firebeat Dancesport Studios!!! read more

I have had the pleasure of watching this studio grow from its very beginning. It is more than just its excellent professionals, their unmatched skills as competitors and teachers. It is more than the students and people who help make Firebeat a real community of people who love dancing. It's more than just having Wally the Studio Cat contribute his part (generally lap-sitting) to the charm of an intimate studio. The people who've created Firebeat have a passion for what they have built and the community they have nurtured there. It's not just a business for them. You can sense how much they care about making it a great place to learn and grow as dancers. You can tell that each day, night after night. Firebeat is simply of the finest studios I've had the pleasure of being a part of. read more

My husband and I came to Firebeat 15 months ago. We did our research, shopped around, and clearly made the right choice. We can't say enough about this studio and everyone who is a part of it. The hospitality starts with the owners, Andre and Ching, and extends to the entire staff. We have taken several lessons with Brad and he has found a way to ignite our passion for dancing. He is patient with his students and caters to all levels. Whether it is a group class or a private lesson, there is something for everyone. It is a place to make new friends (the other students are all amazingly friendly), try something new, and feel like you are part of a community. We are happy to have met our "Firebeat family." They have all brought so much joy to our lives. read more

The people from Firebeat are amazing! I have learned so much within 6 months of attending group classes and privates that I feel will take years if taken at other studios. The teachers here are very personal in their teaching style, tailoring to your needs and experiences. They are also very sincere and also push their students to be the best dancers, whether socially or competitively. For any one that is either new to Ballroom/Latin or have experiences, I highly recommend giving Firebeat a chance to prove how good they are! It's friendly and judgement-free environment that help you grow both as an individual and as a dancers. I hope to see my teachers become world-renown professionals and fulfill their dreams and endeavors! Good luck with everything! read more

I have been taking lessons with Firebeat for the last 2 years. At Firebeat, figures were broken down in detail and the teachers are patient and encouraging, explaining figures from different perspectives when I failed to understand certain explanations. Other dancers have commented on the improvement in my dancing since my taking classes at Firebeat! The owners are very friendly and cheerful. The instructors, Andre' and Tatiana are actively competing and one of the top ranked couples around. I like the choreography they have given me as it is very modern and well-suited to my strengths. The Firebeat crew of Ching, Andre and Tatiana are extremely committed to their student's progress and welcoming to all levels of dancers. read more

The biggest thing I miss for Boston is Firebeat! Had it not been Firebeat, my former partner and I could not have been able to improve that much before we moved away. We wish we had been there earlier so that we could have learned more from our dear coach. The detail-oriented dissection of almost each move, the individualized composition of choreography, the encouraging yet strict instruction, and the always friendly studio environment , make it an irreplaceable dance studio and an unforgettable memory! I wish Firebeat could move to the Bay area! So if you are in Boston area, and interested in learning Latin for competition, really should come to Firebeat, no matter which level you are. read more

After 4 gym memberships, and several visits to different studios, I found Firebeat. A really nice boutique studio lead by a group of very talented - but fun - professionals. I started by taking Zumba, soon after, Ballroom group and private classes. I have a busy life, but this studio is special enough to get a spot in my agenda, so I don't miss class. Teachers and students alike are people with passionate dedication to either excel at competitions, or simply enjoy the beauty of dancing ... just for fun!!! Also, if you happen to visit them, check the Zen Cafe. Judy will treat you with her sweetness and yummy healthy food :) read more

We came to Firebeat in pursuit of high quality instruction focused on technique and access to more affordable competitions. We have been pleasantly surprised with all the other perks as well. On top of the private instruction, the studio offers plenty of challenging group classes designed to build and reinforce your skills. The studio is quite nice and very professional. The teachers have impressive credentials and we have learned 4 comp routines in a very short time in preparation for our first Latin competition. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who is serious about taking their dancing to the next level. read more

Fantastic instructor - really went by the individual's pace and was very attentive to adjust the speed of the lesson based on different levels of the students in the class. The studio space was modern and professional, very clean and spacious, unlike many other studio/clubs we've been to. The students included both singles and couples, and the instructor tries to pair you up with another staff or dancer if you don't have a partner in class. Classes are small, so you will definitely learn a ton. Great music & lots of fun - we keep returning week after week! read more
