We stopped in on Saturday afternoon and had high hopes for this place as the reviews were great and I love supporting our small businesses. The staff seem really sweet but unfortunately the cleanliness is lacking big time. I made a stop to the bathroom and smelled like sewage and the back was just dirty and very messy. As I walked back to my table I had a glimpse of the kitchen and it was really gross. I don't know why but I still ate my food and was a little scared but luckily didn't get sick. The food was average, my husband order chile verde and it lacked flavor. I had fried tacos that were average you can't mess that up. Ended up in this random town after my tire popped on the 5...I was in a pretty bad mood coming in, but the food here totally turned my day around!! The chips and salsa are out of this world -- the chips are super fresh and perfectly crunchy, and the salsa has a real kick to it. I've honestly never had a better tortilla chip in my life and I was born and raised in San Diego so I feel like that says a lot about this place haha I ordered a plate with 2 tacos, rice, and beans. They only have shredded chicken or beef tacos so I opted for one each, and the tacos came with lettuce and what I think was parmesan cheese on top? Interesting combo but nonetheless yummy and the tortillas were exceptionally good. Also really enjoyed the refried beans with cheese!! I normally don't like refried beans but the ones here were really light and not dense/dry at all. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant, with that being said he ordered two plain chicken enchiladas, no beans, with extra rice. He specifically stated NO Cheese. No lettuce. Plain. The server arrived with his food with cheese on it. My bf apologized and told her he said No cheese, the server was offended somehow and told him that he only said no lettuce.. like ok. So she reluctantly took the food back then returned within a minute or so. The "freshly made" plate of food had no cheese on it, or so we thought! The server or whoever prepares the food MASKED their mistake by adding sauce to the enchiladas. They did not make new enchiladas, they didn't even attempt to take the cheese off! Do not order food, I ordered two simple meals. I'm not sure how they manage to screw it up so many times. Got the first plate of food, thought it was odd because we ordered two different items. The cashier said it was all there though so went out to the car, looked inside and had the wrong order. Came back inside and they proceeded to get the right meal. While waiting, the plate of food that I looked through, was given to the correct person. The same exact plate that I was touching. Pretty sure a health inspector would like to know about that. So after about 5 minutes, I got the correct order. Got out to the car, only to find one of the orders was incorrect. Went inside and told the cashier. She asked if something was wrong and I explained to her, we ordered a burrito and wanted 3 simple Ingredients in it. They added onions in there. The cashier told me well you wanted these 3 ingredients and said no tomatoes. That's true, I said I want a chicken rice and cheese burrito, nothing else. I told her typically at most places you get what you ask for. She replied with, Typically you would ask for it with out onions. Like really? Worst customer service ever. On top of that they tried giving my burrito to someone who had ordered a bean and cheese burrito again after I had picked through it to see what was in it.
