Gray Ops FireArms Specialty Training

Gray Ops FireArms Specialty Training

A friend and I just completed Gordon's Fundamental & Intermediate Carbine Class this past weekend…read more As a firearms enthusiasts and weekly range geek, I can truly say that taking this class really opened my eyes on what my rifle and me are capable of doing. Main thing Gordon teaches is "safety first!" We all left with the same amount of holes we arrived in. As this is somewhat a beginners course, on the first day Gordon is extremely informative, knowledgeable, and patient in showing and teaching us the ins & outs of our AR15 platform rifles. He taught us how to zero our rifles from 10yds to 100yds, understanding of height over bore, proper stance, grip, and shooting technique. I've been shooting for many years and always thought they way I shoot was correct until Gordon gave me some pointers which elevated my accuracy by correcting my stance. All though day one was somewhat a refresher course for me, I couldn't wait for day two. I was addicted. On day two, it got more intense. We zero'd our carbines to a 50yd zero and started to learn various shooting positions. We went prone, side prone (left&right), on our backs, kneeling, etc. This is beyond what one can do at a shooting range. We even learned to transition from shoulder to shoulder and to shoot from concealment. I wasn't expecting this level of training for an beginner/intermediate carbine course. it doesn't matter if you have a noveske, POF, LaRue, rifle that is a safe queen or a PSA or Frankenstein rifle, taking it out and putting this tool to work is what these rifles are made for. Gordon has taught me the the fundamentals of my rifle and how to become a safe and respectable operator. As this is my first firearms training class I've taken, I can truly say that I had more fun in 2 days than I did by going to the range every weekend for the past few years. I'm already signing up for his handgun course in September and his carbine skill builder course in October. Anyone who wants to learn more and build a solid foundation on firearms safety should take this class. For the price, you will not go wrong. Hands down to the training LEO and Military personnel has gone through. It is tough and exhilarating.

Training: #SAFETYFIRST#GRAYOPS…read moreEach class starts with speaking the 4 rules of handgun safety and explanation of each. Training is always a little intimidating even more so when the words handgun or firearm is in front of Training. Gray Ops Instructors walk you through those uneasy feelings of intimidation. Each exercise is explained thoroughly and made sure you understand each step without the drill Sargent mentality.#SafetyFirst They are also Safety Instructors in my mind. The outcome in their classes beg to question..."Do I have the same holes God gave me, Am I more confident in handling a firearm, Have I become a more competent firearm handler??? The answer is a BIG YES! I give 5 plus stars.

I recently renewed my CCW with Silvercreek Security Academy. Conrad came recommended by a staff…read moremember at Elite Armory in Tracy, which is the range he uses for training. Elite Armory is one of three of my favorite local ranges, so I trust their advice. They've never led me wrong. I'm still amazed at how much my accuracy improved after just one session with Silvercreek. Conrad's observations are keen and insightful. He imparts wisdom in a way where you can actually use it to improve your form and mechanics. What's even better is that the improvements stick with you if you continue to practice and keep them front of mind. Since my main instructor is now retired, there is no one I trust more than Conrad. I've trained with several local firearms instructors and he is the best I've come across. I like that his classes aren't jam packed so you get good one-on-one attention. He comes off as a skilled and caring instructor who sincerely wants to help people rather than turn a quick buck or prove his superior masculinity. My CCW qualification always happens right in the middle of summer. As a lady who is accustomed comfort, Elite Armory is the best local range to qualify in. I'm not a fan of training for CCW qualification outdoors in the dirt and dust, roasting in the summer heat and sun for hours and hours. Peeing in Porta Potties. Nowhere to wash your hands. No thank you. But I digress... Anything involving life or death situations, you want to be sure to train with the best. I have no doubt Conrad will help me undo any subtle bad habits that creep in and weaken my form over time. Ideally, I'd like to train with him every six months. It helps that his pricing is fair. I like that he doesn't gouge. He's not the cheapest, but he's also not the most expensive--he's right in the QPR 10 ring.

He provides a lot value by giving us feedback and insight with our skills and ensures that we look to improve. The class was great, engaging, and we had some great laughs. Thank you Conrad!

I found both of the instructors to be very engaging and approachable. They presented the curriculum in a very accessible way, and were also very receptive to feedback and alternative methods presented by the students. The instructors also provided relevant anecdotal examples from their military and law enforcement backgrounds to give additional context to the real world applications of the drills they were putting us through. Class enrollment was capped at 12 students max, ensuring a teacher to student ratio that allowed everyone in the class to receive plenty of direct one on one instruction. We started with relatively simple drills that gradually ramped up in challenge throughout the day, culminating in scenarios where we would move, shoot, reload, and engage multiple targets, all while being timed. The course incorporated the use of a shot timer throughout, which added both a stress element as well as a trackable performance metric. Our times were recorded throughout the day, and then compared at the end of the class against the baseline times we had established during drills at the beginning of class. Pretty much everyone made solid improvement on their times by the end of the day. The only negative point I could make about the class was that the lunch break ran a bit long, so we ran out of time towards the end of the day and had to skip over a couple points the instructors had planned to cover. The instructors said that going forward they'd set a timer to prevent the break from running longer than intended. But we covered so much other worthwhile material that I didn't feel this was worth deducting a star off the review. I absolutely got my money's worth from the class, at a price point at or below most other comparable classes being offered here in the greater Bay Area. I'm already checking their class schedule to see what other upcoming classes I might be interested in.

Venmo @desijedi or Zelle desijedi08@gmail.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Initial Review: Have taken 4 classes in last 5 years and quality has declined exponentially. What used to be awesome is now just a money making business with no emphasis on education or proper training. Will avoid going to Spartan/Fidel and I will suggest others to do the same. Don't be fooled by bunch of various course offerings, not worth the price at all.
