Love this open range! My boys have been here before but this was my first time. I prefer the open range to a closed one because it feels more comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, answering all my questions and never making me feel like an annoying newbie lol. Inside the front office they have snacks/merch and basic shooting necessities (ear plugs, glasses, targets). The grounds are taken care of, parking for both pistol and rifle ranges and outdoor bathrooms. Definitely coming back! read more

I just became a member as I appreciate the customer service and that they don't charge hourly as many other ranges. Those are fancier but nothing better than exercising your 2nd amendment right outdoors. This is a great range very safety oriented and not too far if your in the central valley. They have a 200 yard if you can qualify with the range officer. And some great food places just down the road for lunch choices. Overall A+. read more

Just make sure to watch the safely video first on the website, and sign the waiver before going. It will save time in the office, otherwise you can do it there. My first time at LGR was for a class, 2nd with some friends, and 3rd solo. I love it there! The training bays had their targets a little too low in my opinion, but that's my only viable complaint. The office staff are very friendly and helpful and the RSO's are also friendly and professional. Not to mention, outdoor ranges are always fun. Took my son here in August for his 10th birthday, it was great. Check in was easy and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We got some good advice from the RSO. The pistol range has one lane for wheelchair, since it was open, it was perfect for my son. If it wasn't so hot, we would have stayed longer. With that said, -1 star for the lack of a good canopy over the benches and behind the line. We will be back when it starts to cool down. Living in Stockton I found LGR a very quick and easy drive. Other outdoor ranges from Stockton are either a conciderable drive or out in the middle of nowhere. Which doesn't make them awful but location is always important! On Superbowl Sunday I drove out to the range in Linden to get some range time in. The local surrounding indoor ranges are great for pistols but really no fun or challenging for rifles. When I arrived I went in to sign in I was greeted by a very sweet woman who answered all my questions. She was pleasant, courteous & professional. Once at the range table I was greeted by the RSO who gave me the ranges basic rules and guidelines. After the range going cold I noticed my rounds were going low & to the right. I asked the RSO for some help & he was more than happy to help me with my windage & help me adjust my front sight. After his help I was hitting nothing but center mass! I have found my go to outdoor range and encourage others to check this place out! Now I gotta save up for a membership! Thanks LGR, I will definitely be back! read more

This is for the LCSC arm (Linden Competitive Shooting Club) of the San Joaquin Rifle & Pistol Range. LCSC offers USPSA matches every 2nd Sunday of the month. This is an excellent option for us action shooters, as Twin Sisters, Chabot, and Diablo (for the time being) are closed. They have wide bays where long stages can be built. LCSC is different where the match director will walk the stages with every shooter. Different from the rest of the clubs, but definitely for the sake of safety. I also like that they post stage in FB before hand and display the top dogs after each match. The staff are friendly and the place is well maintained. I wish they would build permanent awnings for the action sports. So action shooters we have another option for USPSA shooting on the 2nd Sunday of the month, see you there! read more

This place is awesome! I been to quite a few ranges over the years and have to say this place is one of the best around in San Joaquin County. All the staff are friendly and professional from the front office to the Range Safety Officers (RSO). If you know what you are doing and have good firearms safety practices, you will do well here and have an very enjoyable experience. Even if you are new to the shooting scene, the staff is patient and informative. I have been to a few private classes and courses here when it has been closed to the public, and have had tons more of fun here!! If you ever get a chance to get into a specialty course or competition shooting match, you will come to appreciate this venue on a whole other level. For the average shooter and casual hobbyist out there, this place is definitely good to go! I like to warm up on the 50 yard line with my long gun then go to the 100 yard line for more of a challenge. If your feeling like your Chris Kyle, you can shoot on the 200 yard line if you qualify with the range staff first. The pistol range can get real busy on weekends especially in the late morning heading into noon. Pack a lunch in a cooler and save some time and money. I've been out there sometimes from opening to closing time and wondered where did the time go. There's no time limit on this range which makes it so awesome. Bring plenty of ammo, targets, snacks, staples and friends for a good time! If you are all about that pew pew pew life...this is your place. read more

An amazing family friendly place that places your safety first! I have shot at several of the remaining Bay Area gun ranges in the Bay Area and Linden Gun Range is second to none. Amazing facility where the owner and staff truly care about your safety. RSO' that treat you with respect and are willing to help out regardless of your skill level. A very nice change from the ranges where the RSO's act like and treat you as if you just fell off a turnip truck and talk down to you. I should do an update on my last review because of the many changes that have happened since then. The new pistol ranges and 25 yard ranges have been built and look great. The 50 and 100 yard ranges have been fixed up and repainted. Even the parking lots have been reworked with more space and gravel. The old pistol range has turned into a membership range and you must qualify to be a member for this "Reactive Pistol Range" membership. To qualifying you have to shoot 6/10 rounds into a 5 1/2" orange circle from the 15 yard line. You must now qualify for the 200 yard range also. To qualifying you have to shoot 5/5 rounds into a 5 1/2" orange circle from the 100 yard range. Shotguns are now allowed on the 25, 50, and 100 yard ranges, but NO buckshot. Slugs only and you have to pick up your shells when your finished. It is not "cash only" anymore. They now accept credit/debit cards. Restrooms! They now have real restrooms! It was a little funny though what they posted on their Facebook page about the restrooms... "We put in these brand new bathrooms, found out that tampons do not do well in the lines, had them overflow twice. I put signs up in the bathrooms kindly asking women to not flush them anymore... and here we are two weeks later with 2 tampons plugging the lines. We WILL shut them down to the public if this continues and will only have port-o-potties available, if this doesnt change. This would be an enormous waste of money, and a bummer for all our customers. Men, if your bring the ladies, ask them to read all signs and follow them lol, PLEASE!" There's plenty more, but I'm too lazy ass hell to type all that sh*t out. Just come out here and see for yourself. They have done a lot in less than a year and I appreciate all the hard work that's been done so far. I had to prepare to qualify with the Mini 14 rifle for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. I had never shot a rifle before. Thanks to Linden Gun Range staff and weapons expert Glenn Abrescy, I was able to qualify and pass with a great score. He also helped me with the Glock 9mm pistol, which I now feel confident that I can shoot safely, and qualify to carry when I need. He taught me gun safety, familiarized me with the weapons system, and taught me proper technique in handling, and firing the weapon. I highly recommend making appointment with Mr. Abrescy for any of your weaponry needs, including gun safety, and much more. He is a great instructor, patient, and fun to work with. read more

I have been to this range at least 5 times. They have it all - 7, 15, 25 yd pistol and 50, 100, 200 yd rifle ranges. On 12/26/15, they had a customer appreciation day offerring free shooting, a free lunch and to top it off, they had outside vendors there offerring free training. I booked a group of 9 and it was one of the funnest range days I ever had. The staff there are very friendly and rangemasters are always helpful and safe. This is by far my favorite outdoor range. After shooting here a few more times since my initial review, I've upgraded my rating to 5 stars (and I don't give too many of those). Shooting at Linden is pretty much "as good as it gets" and is a throw back to when people went shooting to "have fun" and ranges weren't so crowded and staff so uptight trying to maintain range safety. This is not to say that range safety is unnecessary; it certainly is. But since Linden is located SO far away from the main urban areas in the SF Bay Area, it is not that crowded and most of the people to shoot there are familiar with guns, know what the gun safety rules are and follow them without the need to stress out the RSO (and worry other shooters nearby). However, my rating is only for the 50/100 yard ranges, which are the only ranges that I have used so far. I have qualified for use of the 200 yards range but haven't had the chance to use it yet. I like that I can drive right up to the ranges and park my truck only steps from the shooting stations, so that I can bring extra firearms and gear but don't have to schlep all of it at the same time to my shooting bench; I can just walk a few steps to get what I need when I need it. Anyway, if you want a more relaxed and "old school" range shooting experience, you should definitely take the time to check out Linden. read more

I competed in FBI Advanced SWAT competitions for 6 years in a row, where our team placed 1st 5 times and 2nd once. I was also on our 2 man sniper team and placed 1st 5 years in a row. They are friendly, professional, and very helpful. It takes a lot to impress me, and I am definitely impressed. I also met their Lead Range Safety Officer, Jason Hill. He's very knowledgeable and personable. It felt great to get behind my .308 again. I'm looking forward to shooting on their 200 yard range. The Linden Gun Range is, hands down, a Class Act. I came here with my family and was pretty disappointed. You have to go to the office area to pay and check in and the shooting area is ridiculously far from where you park. No one wants to carry all their guns and ammo that far. Because I had two older people and a child with me, we actually drove closer to the range after paying. The girl in the office was nice enough, but the check in process is very long; it's like a doctor's office medical history or a law enforcement background check just to shoot your own gun. There are staff members walking around to "assist" but I felt like it was an army training facility, but with no training. The staff are more like narcs than helpers. I got tired of waiting for all the other groups of people in my area to finish before I could change out my targets and the price was really ridiculous for a family outing. I would not return and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I have not been to the range since shortly before the owner passed away last year. I had read about all the changes on Facebook and thought I would go out to dial in some rifles on the 200 yard range. I can not believe some of the changes that have occurred. You have to "qualify" on the 100 yard range before being "allowed" on the 200 yd? Empty chamber indicators? Only one pistol at a time on the firing line? One or two people at a time inside to register? Wait outside until there is only 1 or 2 people inside? Here's my favorite: I asked if I could shoot 22mag rifle on the 200 yard. I had seen where it said only high power on the 200 yard range so I asked about shooting 22 mag. The response? "Is that a rimfire?".....I wonder what he would have said if I mentioned 22-250?(same caliber), This is the short list of rules....unlike anything I have seen at ANY of the other local ranges......I am not even sure the guy at the counter was into guns. All me and my buddy(both longtime avid shooters) could say was "You have got to be kidding me?" .....so we did what every consumer has the option of doing: We took our business elsewhere. The new owners have made this range unlike any other in the area. If you need your gun training wheels to shoot and have little or no knowledge or training in firearms, San Joaquin is prob a good place to go shoot. You will stay warmly wrapped in your protective cocoon. If you like to go shoot your guns and enjoy your sport, you might want to look at one of the other local facilities. I do not care for Manteca Sportsman Club but after todays experience, I would absolutely recommend them over San Joaquin gun. The price is the same. I do wish San Joaquin Gun success but their style of running a gun range is probably not for the experienced shooter who wants to spend a relaxing couple of hours going "BANG! BANG! BANG!" read more

Today was my first time coming to the Linden Gun Range. When I walked into the office to sign in I was immediately greeted by two of the most pleasant smiling young ladies, Jenny and Miles. They happily explained the rules and operations of the gun range and left a lasting impression with me as to the level of professionalism the employees of this range exude! *I was at the 50 yd. range and Jason was very professional and safety conscious, and was very helpful when I had a brand new rifle jam on me. He was training a new employee, O'Reilly, who was very friendly and since there was only one other shooter at the range besides myself, we all were able to enjoy some "gun talk" which I enjoyed very much. *I think Christine Zádor should be very proud of the crew she has working for her. I really enjoyed my first time here, the staff was very friendly and the facilities were clean. There is a big emphasis on safety which is a pain but also appreciated, not everyone has the same experience with guns and it's nice to know they will and do correct people breaking the rules. It would be nice to be able to holster draw and rapid fire but I understand why they don't allow it (greenhorns) but it would be nice if they would have a class or something to be able to practice this important skill if you have CCW and need to practice. I'm sure I could go to a BLM area if there was one close enough but they all seem to 1-1/2 to 2 hours away. I highly recommend the Range, outdoor shooting is so much more enjoyable.
