Was* a certified 8k but they let it expire/lapse!…read more Is very scenic with lots of turns in the nearby neighborhood. From a raising money for a "cause" perspective probably a good thing.. From a race perspective-lots of turns-not good if you are looking for a PR* From a Road racer perspective, not a good thing. No medals for finishers even in top 3 or 1st place. No chips,so they use old school inaccurate accounting to tabulate incorrect results they do not correct upon communication-plain and simple. You will wait a long time too for the alleged results! My 10 year old ran an unofficial world record time but was switched in placing with the person next to him he beat. They don't respond, don't correct it and apparently do not care! I contacted them several times through both e-mail and Facebook Only to simply be ignored! It may not matter to them but it does to a 10 year old who deserves an accurate time and placing regardless of their desire to save money by not using computer chips in the bibs! Won't go here again, won't race in any of their races and won't certainly suggest their future races to all the myriad's of racers I know either!

***4.5 stars*** this…read morewas my first time participating in this event, and i did so for two reasons: 1. it's super close to where i live (i'm talkin' a 6 min drive!)...i probably could have run here as my warmup! 2. proceeds benefit 3 schools in the palo alto school system: +barron park elementary school +terman middle school +gunn high school for this particular event, there was a choice of several distances: 1. 8k (4.97 miles) - open to all 2. 1 mile - open to all 3. 1/2 mile - 3rd, 4th and 5th graders 4. 1/4 mile - K,1st and 2nd graders 5. 200 yards - pre-K 6. 100 yards - challenger and special needs i chose to participate in both the 8k and 1 mile, with a 2 hour break in between these two events. the pros: -PERFECT race day conditions, low-mid 50s and cloudy at the start of the 8k @ 8.30am. -relatively flat course that originated a few blocks from barron park elementary, looped around the barron park neighborhood of palo alto, and ended back at the school -free and easy parking at gunn high school (5 min walk to staging area with packet pickup and bag check) -relatively small event, so the start line and course were never crowded, and i never had to squeeze my way in between anyone -separate start times for each of the 6 events -large posters to mark each mile of the 8k race -spot in terms of distance (4.97 for the 8k and 1.00 for the 1 miler)...my garmin was off by just a few 1/100's of a mile b/c i didn't always run the tangents -friendly volunteers directing runners along the course, calling out splits, handing out cups of water at the aid staion, and managing refreshments at the end -lots of neighbors, parents, friends, and other supporters cheering for us throughout each course what you get: *17th annual juana run? logo cotton t-shirt *lots of post-race food & drinks, including bagels, coffee cake, bananas, fruit-flavoured water and regular water. food was plentiful throughout the entire morning, so participants in all distances had a chance to partake in post-race refreshments. *FREE active release technique to ease any post-race tightness and pain *FREE gait analysis for those who wish to have their running form analysed *FREE pancake breakfast for all 8k participants (yes, hot pancakes with butter and syrup!) the cons: -no chip timing for this event, so finish times are based on actual gun time. must line up at the very front if you want to have an accurate time. -no early packet pickup option. must arrive at race site early to pick up bib, t-shirt and goodie bag. -since i ran in two events, i had to line up twice to get both bibs since they handed out the bibs in segments BONUS: since i placed 1st in my age group for the 1 mile event, i was awarded a juana run? duffle bag, which is very spacious, great for carrying all of my running gear, accessories, snacks and water bottle! this was a terrific event organized by those affiliated with the three aforementioned palo alto schools. the success of the event was due to the help of parents, teachers, students, and especially, the volunteers. definitely great for families with children since there is a distance appropriate for everyone. since it wasn't a large, highly populated event, it definitely had that sense of "family" that i really like. i will definitely sign up again next year!

Unfortunately we only had 7 so we couldn't do the 8 person reservation. I called to get info about wait times (I understand that they can't give me an exact estimate so I told them give me worse case scenario) and I was advised that the group of 7 could have some long wait times so we opted to just come up with 3 of us. Upon arrival, place was dead other than 2-3 staff members within sight. We asked the individual behind the counter some basic questions being first timers at that location, we ended up purchasing 2 races and we received 1 for free because it was Tuesday and that was just a deal they had. After they took our money they said "well it could be about 30 minutes until you all race" which we responded saying that it's totally fine we will hangout thank you. Well since we had 30 minutes to kill why not buy some arcade credits and mess around (very mediocre arcade at best). After we purchased arcade credits, about 15 minutes went buy another employee came up to us to let us know that if we wanted to race we would have to wait till about 4:45-5pm because a group rented out the facility and there's just nothing they can do. Keep in mind when we purchased our races, 2:23pm to be exact, we got told 30 minutes. Somehow between multiple phone calls to confirm before the long drive and the day of upon arrival purchasing our races not a single individual let us know about this possible booking. ALSO no we did not show up before this group event, they were already there. Which in their defense the employee giving us a refund said "well we are not allowed to tell people about bookings". Great totally understandable I run a business my self and I understand private information etc. however the lying of race times, letting us wait for a bit and following up with "if you don't take the refund we will give you 2 extra races" well thanks but I find it hard to believe we got the full reasoning behind the situation... also to add more context, no we weren't those customers causing issues, being overly loud, or causing any sort of issues. Civilized beings and in return got a pretty S*** end of the stick. K1 speed its self is great but this location is ran by some individuals that have zero interest in making the experience rememberable. K1s slogan "Arrive and Drive" they have printed on their business cards left out crucial information. Arrive and drive past. Keep your money and spend it with a business that will give you the proper attention. Not asking to be treated like royalty. Just some common decency.

His teaching progression was methodical and perfectly paced: we started with racing lines at slower speeds, then layered in braking technique, corner entry discipline, slide awareness and recovery, trail braking, and manual shifting. Each session built on the last, and he never introduced complexity before the foundation was solid. Over the course of my sessions, my best lap time at Sonoma went from over 3 minutes to 1:47.5 in a simulated 488 GTB with manual shifting. More importantly, I went from not understanding how to read a track to consistently flowing curb to curb, managing traction through elevation changes, and feeling confident at the car's limits. Jason also brought in tools like ghost cars and telemetry overlays to help me find time I didn't know I was leaving on the table. The at-home setup was convenient and the sim hardware is excellent. Deanna was responsive and easy to work with on scheduling. If you're preparing for a track day, driving school, or just want to build real driving skill in a low-risk environment, I'd highly recommend SSi and Jason specifically. Worth every dollar.

The team is a family run operation with Jason being the head coach (also a semi-pro racer) and Maria handling all the logistics. I booked an arrive & drive session for their 100cc kart at Sonoma Raceway and the entire experience far exceeded my expectations. The kart was in immaculate condition and fine tuned specifically to my build; I met with them a week in advance to do measurements to ensure proper fitment, which was a first for me. Jason and his crew were giving me solid advice throughout the day, answered all my questions, and even gave in-depth guidance on taking the next steps with purchasing my own kart. You can absolutely see the care and passion they have for this sport and how they want to help you progress into a better driver. Although their main focus is driver development through SIM training, they are truly devoted to helping you grow as a driver and ensure you have a fun time.

As someone who plans large company events while juggling a full-time job, I know how stressful it can be to find a space that checks all the boxes: an impressive venue, efficient and friendly staff, ample entertainment options, and reliable vendor connections for everything from catering and music to photo booths, balloons, and even stylish furniture. Club Sportiva delivered on all fronts. Working with Emma, their Event Specialist, was an absolute pleasure. She is a true professional--organized, responsive, and incredibly flexible, even when we needed to make last-minute changes. Emma coordinated seamlessly with all our vendors on the night of the event, managed her team with ease, and regularly checked in with me to ensure everything was running smoothly. She stayed until the very end, making sure every detail was handled and that I, as the planner, could actually enjoy the event too. We hosted over 250 guests, including families with children, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, the only complaint I heard was from a child who didn't get one last turn on the car simulator before their parents said it was time to go! Club Sportiva was the perfect choice--elegant, well-organized, and versatile. They helped us plan an unforgettable, fun, and well-executed event within our budget. Emma's expertise and hands-on support made a world of difference. As someone who has planned many corporate events, I can confidently say that working with Emma and the Club Sportiva team was a rare and exceptional experience--and her level of service comes at no additional cost. That kind of value is priceless.
