I was hesitant about the group therapy aspect, but I have ended up loving it. The environment is so accepting, encouraging, diverse, inclusive, and safe to share as much of your story and challenges as you'd like. The group therapist, Deja, is phenomenal and provides amazing therapeutic care and has helped me process and overcome so many things I never thought I could/would. I also received medication management from one of their PMHNP providers, Sheela, who truly listened to me and immediately got to work on how to support my stability and mental, emotional, and physical health through medication and other supports. They provided case management services as well and gave me an extensive list of resources I could utilize to further support my journey. The individual therapy sessions I had with Deja were so helpful and supportive, and even the front desk staff were so helpful, responsive, and supportive. I simply cannot recommend this office & their providers enough.

I would very much recommend this place to anyone looking for help regarding mental health issues…read more But I think it is incredibly important to understand that there are many branches of mental healthcare. This place specializes in psychiatric care. Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the study, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders. Psychiatry is usually comprised of both a psychotherapy, and psychiatric medication aspect. If you are looking for a different approach than one that involves being put on a psychiatric medication with therapy then I suggest you find a place that only does therapy. Or bring up concerns to a provider here. But it has always been my experience that the providers at this clinic have prescribed within reason, and for the right reasons. In the interest of being non-bias I looked up provider profiles on ProPublica to check for potential conflicts of interest. I found that one provider's most prescribed drug is Ambilify. While that could potentially be a sign of influence from pharmaceutical money. The statistics are self reported to ProPublica and is something that they have been candid about. Also Ambilify has been shown to be an effect add-on medication for many manic depressive mood disorders that has no generic alternative currently. ProPublica only shows the top prescribed brand name medication so in all likely hood it is because of the lack of generic that there is even a ProPublica record for a provider from this clinic. My provider has always been honest and forward with me about my treatment and has gone out of their way to accommodate me so as to benefit my treatment. So if you are looking for psychiatric treatment then I'd recommend this clinic. But be informed about what you are receiving as treatment. They provide therapy in commonly with the addition of medication, to the best of their professional medical expertise. Don't judge performance poorly if you expected something different than psychiatric care from a psychiatric clinic. Ignorance of what psychiatry is and isn't, is not grounds for a poor review. I believe that other patients probably think positively of the care provided here as well, but with a public stigma attached to mental health it isn't something people tend to want to give a review about. So please don't let a bad review dissuade you from seeking help from this clinic. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the providers at Associates for Psychiatric and Mental Health.

It's been almost a year since I spent 9 days at Rainier Springs for acute alcohol use disorder and…read morebipolar disorder. It was a very unpleasant experience that nonetheless helped me immensely. Rainier Springs is an inpatient psychiatric hospital that treats both psych disorders and substance use. It is not a detox or a residential treatment center even though it provides services along those lines. For this reason, it is a locked door unit and you have to surrender your cellphone. There are four optional groups a day and you meet with a doctor very very briefly most weekdays. They are not licensed to do any individual therapy so you don't have regular individual meetings with your therapist, but can talk to them and they do some case management. Staying even at a horrible county detox is more pleasant and relaxing, but the good news is, Rainier Springs actually treats psych disorders and does medication management. I was off all my psych meds and they started me on a med that still helps me to do this day, and almost a year later I'm functioning the best I have in years. You have to do a lot of your own case management and discharge planning, particularly if you are voluntarily rather than being on a psych hold, but they allow you to make phone calls for aftercare planning and I found a sober living where I spent several weeks after, before returning home and doing outpatient. There is a large population of houseless patients in Rainier Springs, so they are overwhelmed with finding people resources. Rainier Springs is an unpleasant but very safe and respectful facility that had a huge impact on me. I got safe and sober and was able to detox safely while restarting on psych meds. Almost a year later, I have six months completely clean and sober, I am applying to graduate school, and I have meaningful relationships with friends and family. While the staff at Rainier Springs didn't go out of their way to cater to patients whims, they were kind and respectful. If you are in an absolute rock bottom situation, I would recommend Rainier Springs. Certainly, it is better than jail, the streets, or being strapped down in a hospital.

They were very rude in telling me I have to take my clothes off, no empathy, or patients. I was crying and hugging myself and one of the staff said "okay! You can either strip or leave." They rushed every step that was supposed to be slow and threatened to kick me out of I didn't do it. They just don't REALLY care for the patients, they give no dignity, they see the patients there as animals essentially. They have a blank face when a patient is crying or having a panick attack. It's disgusting and their lack of professionalism and care is just as dehumanizing as their psychopathic behaviors they show their patients.

I was doing terribly, so my dad and step-mom helped my brother and I get into therapy with RLC. I had my first therapy session with LMHC Lindsey Russet. I believe she was a wonderful fit for me, but she had to step away after a couple months to a year for maternity leave. I had the option to continue with video calls instead of in-person meetings, but my parents did not believe that to be as effective at the time. I feel grateful for her time, and wished her the best. With my first therapist no longer available, RLC had to move me to a new therapist. Despite the seemingly long list of providers in their website, I only had one option. Unfortunately, he was not the right one. I never truly felt comfortable with this provider, but continued to see him anyway. Our disconnect made the sessions feel impersonal and a waste of time. He would ask me to try techniques in-office that I did not like (breathing techniques) and we would often talk about things unrelated to my mental health issues. It felt like he didn't understand me at all. After all of this wasted time, I knew I finally had to step up and do something, otherwise I would continue seeing this provider that I knew was not benefiting me. I had taken some control in the conversation and was asking his thoughts on my situation, because I had a feeling he didn't see what was wrong. I was correct. After he said something The Board would not have like to hear, and something I disagreed with (never reported and do not intend to), I had my closure and could leave counseling without guilt. I went a couple years without therapy and missed my first therapist every so often, but Real Life Counseling was not an option for me anymore. I would not consider going there again. That latter experience was subpar, and I hope other clients that visit RLC have a better experience than I did.

They had me pay in full for a visit but then afterwards, my insurance paid. I was left with a credit on my account and my counselor no longer works with this practice due to other reasons.
