It's been almost a year since I spent 9 days at Rainier Springs for acute alcohol use disorder and bipolar disorder. It was a very unpleasant experience that nonetheless helped me immensely. Rainier Springs is an inpatient psychiatric hospital that treats both psych disorders and substance use. It is not a detox or a residential treatment center even though it provides services along those lines. For this reason, it is a locked door unit and you have to surrender your cellphone. There are four optional groups a day and you meet with a doctor very very briefly most weekdays. They are not licensed to do any individual therapy so you don't have regular individual meetings with your therapist, but can talk to them and they do some case management. Staying even at a horrible county detox is more pleasant and relaxing, but the good news is, Rainier Springs actually treats psych disorders and does medication management. I was off all my psych meds and they started me on a med that still helps me to do this day, and almost a year later I'm functioning the best I have in years. You have to do a lot of your own case management and discharge planning, particularly if you are voluntarily rather than being on a psych hold, but they allow you to make phone calls for aftercare planning and I found a sober living where I spent several weeks after, before returning home and doing outpatient. There is a large population of houseless patients in Rainier Springs, so they are overwhelmed with finding people resources. Rainier Springs is an unpleasant but very safe and respectful facility that had a huge impact on me. I got safe and sober and was able to detox safely while restarting on psych meds. Almost a year later, I have six months completely clean and sober, I am applying to graduate school, and I have meaningful relationships with friends and family. While the staff at Rainier Springs didn't go out of their way to cater to patients whims, they were kind and respectful. If you are in an absolute rock bottom situation, I would recommend Rainier Springs. Certainly, it is better than jail, the streets, or being strapped down in a hospital. read more

When I got there, they have to check your naked body for marks or weapons. So I was in a room with two lady's, since I myself am one. They were very rude in telling me I have to take my clothes off, no empathy, or patients. I was crying and hugging myself and one of the staff said "okay! You can either strip or leave." They rushed every step that was supposed to be slow and threatened to kick me out of I didn't do it. They just don't REALLY care for the patients, they give no dignity, they see the patients there as animals essentially. They have a blank face when a patient is crying or having a panick attack. It's disgusting and their lack of professionalism and care is just as dehumanizing as their psychopathic behaviors they show their patients. read more

Well, I was Destined to Commit myself with NO EXCUSES on my part and I DID anything & everything I could think of - except after walking to LifeLine and being Denied any Detox or 30 day In-Patient Treatment due to complete Disclosure from "Them Finally and I knew I was guessing some things in an acceptable manner (can't wait to learn more about this!) Afterwards, I was told that Rainier Springs and my type of Insurance would be better suited at their establishment! So I walked up to Rainier Springs in North Salmon Creek and they treated me with Amazing care and even preformed an Assessment and gave me Great insight and guidance for more resources that would be more beneficial than a 30day in-patient experience at their location based on my personal situation! When I was placed here, I was going through a crisis. This facility didn't help with that, and only made my mental health worse. The only upside was that there were two cool alt people who were staff. However, my experience was terrible. First off, why would you put an 18 year old trans girl who was self harming in a unit with a bunch of 35+ year old men who are in there recovering from drug addiction? I got hit on by one of the patients. And no, they didn't place me in a male unit--they just don't gender their units, so it ends up with each unit having about four times as many men than it does women. I have no clue why the social worker at the ER would send me to a place like this. I felt so uncomfortable there, as everyone (including my roommate) were the type of guys who would be creeps toward me at the bus stop at night. Second, do the staff not care about patients wellbeing at all? I snapped my hairbrush to use for cutting myself with and none of the staff noticed. I repeatedly banged my head against the wall and none of the staff noticed. I WAS OFFERED CIGARETTES BY THE STAFF, despite them not being legal for someone under the age of 21 to smoke. Oh, and they also didn't return my personal medications. Thanks for that, Rainier Springs, I had at least another 3 months left on that estradiol vial you never gave back. read more

DO NOT COME HERE LATE AT NIGHT DURING A CRISIS! I called Rainier Springs July 24th at about 8pm needing an assessment in hopes of getting back into group therapy. I was very clear that I was not suicidal however was wanting to harm myself in order to cope. They informed me their soonest appt for an assessment was 10:30pm. I arrived at 10:30pm and filled out all paperwork before being left alone to wait. I was left alone in that waiting room completely by myself until 1:37am when the only doctor was finally able to assess me. At 12:45am I went behind the front desk counter and literally begged the staff member that came out to not leave me alone and that I needed someone to stay with me at least until they were ready to assess me. The doctor informed me that he was the only staff and he had other patients who had been admitted to help so I needed to be patient. I ended up calling 911 for help and having one of the most severe mental breakdowns of my life in that waiting room by myself. I don't blame the staff as I was later informed that there had been callouts and that the doctor / staff wasn't supposed to be alone. I should not have been able to schedule an appointment to be seen if they didn't have the staff there to work with me. I have videos of my treatment. I left the facility with no assessment as at that point I did not feel emotionally safe giving them anything after the treatment I received. That being said the few staff that were there handled this the best they could. I will 1000% be reaching out to upper management regarding this issue however I'm currently dealing with physical health issues and trying to deal with the mental health stuff is currently on more back burner while I heal. All that being said if you want a brief summary: DO NOT come to this place late at night, alone, or if you physically want to injure or end your life. This place clearly does not have the staff to keep up with specific patients at least at night when staffing is harder to fill. If you have to come here, do not come alone, bring someone that you trust who is able to help you deal with the fact that you will be here for hours possibly before you even start the 3-5 hour process of being admitted. Know that you are the most important person in your life and you deserve the right mental health treatments. Personally I'd say their IOP and PHP programs and staff are great but the severity of what experienced on the inpatient side completely negates that for me just because I really feel that my safety was not taken seriously and legit couldn't because they didn't have the staff. This place is a piece of shit. A joke I volunteered to fill an assessment and they locked me behind closed doors , asked to leave. Before being assessed but they would not let me. I was locked in there like an animal for three months . No hearing . When I left they kept my money I returned to retrieve my 800.00 and they called the police on me. I called the police on them when I was there because they would not let me leave after 120 hold. I never got prescribed the meds I wanted to get back on and no aftercare. The doctor is a complete awhole..... I ended up sleeping in the streets on the sidewalk . They told me if I come in there homeless, I have to leave homeless. ??? I came voluntarily from a hotel. They held me there 3 months without a hearing. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES IN THE CARE OF RAINIER SPRINGS! i am not sure why this facility agreed to treat my father. i was unaware my father was going into this facility for treatment. he is a SEVERE alcoholic. two days into his stay at this facility, he developed SEVERE withdrawals and delirium tremens. they apparently had him transferred to a local hospital. i say apparently because neither i nor my mother were notified of this. NO ONE WAS NOTIFIED! not even the hospital knew how to get ahold of us! my father was dropped off to possibly die in the ICU ALONE! if you don't know how dangerous severe alcohol withdrawals can be then look it up. after i realized my father was in this rehab, i called them for info. they refused to give me ANY information because i did not have some number that would've been on his bracelet. the only way i would've obtained this number is if he was well enough to call me and give it to me. i had my mom call them, since she is the one who helped my father fill out all of his intake paperwork. they refused to give her any information as well, and actually hung up on her. i met my mom at the facility, where they strung us along for an hour before i started calling local hospitals, and found out he was in the ICU. my dad had been in the ICU for a WHOLE WEEK.. alone, suffering, confused, at risk for seizure, stroke and death. he has been in the hospital for 16 days now. he is still confused, has no idea what's going on.. when a head nurse discovered that Rainier Springs failed to notify us, she attempted to call them for some answers and was also hung up on. i cannot help but think this facility should have known better than to have my father quit cold turkey. there are other options available for someone like him. he may now have lasting damage from this ordeal. not only that, but it is EXTREMELY unprofessional of them to hang up on us, and refuse to give us any information during a LITERAL medical emergency! they knew where he was! oh yeah, they wouldn't give us any information, but they did somehow allow my mom to go pick up my fathers personal belongings. they somehow lost his pants, hat and shoes. this place all around is terrible. do not drop your loved ones off here if you care about their well being. read more

Awful communication and customer service. I have a family member in this facility. I have never experienced worse customer service. We are paying over $1000/day for our family member's care but despite repeated requests to speak to the clinical staff, I still have not been able to. Our family member is critically ill, and this behavior by staff is terribly upsetting. When answering the phone the staff, if they answer the phone at all, are hostile and uncommunicative. Again, we are paying over $1000 per day. They make you feel that you should not be calling and as if you are interfering in their time sitting at their desks. I called just now and was rudely hung up on twice, and one staff person refused to identify themselves or their position. The work this hospital is charged to do is critical and highly sensitive. However, their attitude toward the family members of their patients could not be worse. Unprofessional and irresponsible, the behavior of staff is passive aggressive and uncalled for. The problem is so consistent and widespread throughout the facility it has to reflect extremely poor management. read more

I voluntarily checked in for alcohol dependency and mental health. It seemed like a jail. Check in process was over 5 hours with lots of waiting, freezing cold and hungry. Thought the co-ed living situation was weird. surrounded by homeless people glorifying drug use and clearly no intention to change just wanted a roof and food made for a surreal experience. When wanting to check out because overall environment made mental health worse I was treated like it was impossible and needed approval even though check in was voluntary but I pushed and held my ground. When I got home I realized over 300 dollars was missing from my wallet so I called and they got it and I picked up. Then I never received my jewelry back worth over $1000..have called over 6 times with no call back. Will stop in and demand answers. Do not recommend this place. Had such a horrible experience that it took over 3 days to get over the surreal shock and also deterred me from wanting to seek other impatient rehabilitation centers. read more

One star is generous. This a place to dry out and detox but there is minimal intervention with staff. One patient was sobbing and the nurses sat in their window, staring at her. Other patients were reassuring her. The staff is disrespectful. The night nurses were good but most of the day and PM nurses were inexperienced and some were very young. The food was truly dismal. It was a lot of processed food and very salty. The kitchen staff were friendly and kind and probably did the best they could. I left detoxed from alcohol but had no follow up plan or resources, other than some phone numbers. There were 2 phones for the patients and one staff member kept tapping her watch while i was talking with Providence about follow up care. It was up to us, entirely, to plan any follow up. I would have expected a discharge planned to coordinate this. I've not relapsed since but would certainly have benefited from a better quality program. read more

If there was a way to give a zero rating...I would do that. Our 26 year old daughter suffers from anxiety and depression (no addiction issues). She had a major panic attack and spent three nights at Unity Health in Portland Oregon--it is a mental health urgent care. They were wonderful but not an inpatient facility. Although she had suicidal ideation, she had not attempted suicide and Unity thought she would benefit from an inpatient facility on a voluntary placement. They told her she could leave at any time. She was so hopeful that she could get help for her crippling anxiety. She arrived at 5pm and spent three hours in an empty waiting room with no water or food. She was taken to a floor with people double and triple her age (her roommate was in her 70's and racist--using the N word to the nurse's aid). It was a co ed floor and they couldn't close their room doors. The bathroom door was only open at the top. She was terrified. They brought her a plate of pasta for dinner but she doesn't' eat meat. They told her to just pick out the meat. She was told she would be going to group therapy with the people on her floor. She was terrified. She asked to call home. She asked to leave. She knew this wasn't the place for her. They said she had to have a DCFS state worker interview her and clear her to leave against medical advice. She was granted it and the state case worker told her she should file a complaint against the facility. She left just 15 minutes shy of 24 hours. They would not send her with the new anxiety medication that Unity started her on. It took us five days to get into her doctor to get the medication restarted. Now Rainier Springs is threatening her with collection because she can't pay her $500 copay. Kaiser paid them nearly $2,000 and she wasn't even there 24 hours! My daughter is now in an intensive outpatient therapy program and has lost her job. She has no way to pay this. We have written letters, emails and tried to call to talk to Rainier Springs about the bill but no one returns our calls. This is truly all about corporate greed and not care for a patient's mental health. Think twice and do your research before coming here....which of course is a little hard to do if you are in a mental health crisis. Shame on you Rainier Springs!!! Mary C read more

It would be nice if they were a little more knowledge about who to admit here for an alcohol withdrawal and who not to admit. The person they admitted was thrown into a coma for 8 days due to the lack of proper medicine. The worker who admitted him had to be only in his early twenties, so I believe he was not qualified to make this sort of serious decision. You just can't have this sort of wisdom at this young of age. I kept telling him how long and hard this person had been drinking and that he needed proper care at the right facility. He was already in end stage alcoholism and all he was doing was drinking 24/7... I told him I came along to be his advocate to make sure he was taken care of properly and mentioned how serious this is and how a bad withdrawal can affect his brain. This worker was absolutely clueless to these facts! The patient needed much stronger meds than this facility has. The intake worker definitely should have told him he needed to go to the hospital for an alcohol withdrawal of this sort. He was just too sick to be admitted there... It took this person 6 weeks to barely recover He had to learn to eat, walk and talk. He almost died! They did not contact his emergency contacts upon transferring him. A worker stole his levis, his hat and money out of his wallet. Thankfully, they didn't steal the wallet. The critical care nurse in charge at the ICU where he was transfered called Rainier Springs to let them know not to send anyone else in this condition to them again and she was hung up on. As a patient who just discharged at 11am TODAY, I find myself completely baffled by the negative reviews. ANYONE who is leaving AUTOMATIC "1-star" reviews clearly does not understand the underlying issues of mental health and mental health crisis. I was diagnosed Bi-polar/Borderline and I spent a VERY DIFFICULT 7 days on unit. Why difficult? Simple. INSTITUTIONALIZED. Structured in a way that is not conducive to anyone with a flair for manipulation. SUBMIT to the process, quit BITCHING, keep your eyes and ears to YOURSELF when necessary or required by staff and/or PATIENT PRIVACY LAWS, enjoy the above AVERAGE food, SIT DOWN, BREATHE, RELAX, and GET BETTER! It's gonna work or it's gonna FAIL. Only YOU, the PATIENT (I see you in the reviews) can MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU. Leave the staff and the PROCESS out of your NEGATIVITY. 100% REAL review. I implore anyone deciding to voluntarily or, under involuntary orders, to not let the negativity affect your decision to select Rainier Springs as your preferred mental health retreat. I've also WORKED as a Security Officer for "PEACE"health and if you want to know what's wrong with their M.O., well, let's just say they take a much more HANDS ON approach to CONTROLLING the patients. Been there, done that, hands on some really vulnerable folks. Couldn't do it anymore, WON'T do it ever again. I left that niche of the industry for THAT reason. So, choose Legacy Salmon Creek and Rainier Springs for your mental health crisis, unless, you know, you want staff with a penchant for the needle and security who trains extensively in HANDS ON control tactics tossing you around and sticking you instead of guiding YOUR ASS through the process of safe and healing RECOVERY. I will willingly admit myself to the program at Rainier Springs in the future if I ever find myself off my MEDS or in a severe crisis mode that isn't being alleviated by my outpatient resources. Terrible place. I had a loved one go there in 2018 and 2020 for addiction and mental health care. Even with a medical power of attorney and guardianship (with HIPPA rights) they refused to return my calls to talk about the care plan for my client. I had to show up there and refused to leave until I got to talk to a doctor. Shouldn't have to do that with their shiny posters talking about family involvement - let alone the fact that I'm a guardian of a vulnerable adult. When they were discharged it all seemed to be about giving the patients pills and not much structure at all. I worked with the staff to craft a LRA...and when it was violated they refused to enforce it. The 2nd go around was prematurely shut down because of COVID but it was more of the same. They also ignored state laws about "safe discharge planning" - the plan was simply "hey you're client is being discharged" without any input in both cases. read more

The staff actualy do care and show it to you. Dive into groups and you can get better. You get what you put into it. The only complaint I have is that they have a hard time throwing out the toxic people who don't want to get better but thats because of how the laws are. If you work with them they will help you. I was homeless and suicidal when I came in. When I left I was a changed man who cried out so much pain. And they helped me find my new home in my sober living community where I continue to get better. It works if you work it. read more

My first time going to a treatment center other then jail .I was given more care in jail .in jail I was given medication to help me when I started getting sick at Rainer springs I was given an ibuprofen 6 hours shy of being there 3 full days despite my request for additional medication. For a snak at Rainer springs they offer cold ham sandwiches and chips sounds like every meal while detoxing in Clark County jail..I'm not trying to just trash talk any one seriously looking to get clean should save themselves unneeded pain and suffering and look into other options. I felt determined going in that with a little help I could get off this curse I went to Rainer springs praying for that help I received none as I sit here typing this dope pipe in one hand phone in the other hating myself even more then when I went in thanks for doing absolutely nothing to help me Rainer springs. read more

When I discharged some of my belongings were missing. They act like it's jail and you have to ask for the snacks. They have a bogus weapons policy concerning knives and blades, they will deliberately destroy your blade or knife knowing they can keep it locked up for you in the duration until you discharge. If you're homeless its almost as if they don't want you to have anything so they rob you of your stuff. I think these people work with the gang stalkers because they steal all the time. I would not recommend this place. I would choose Lifeline Connections over this place any day. read more

Got a call from this phone number, and immediately called back. I asked why I had been called, and Hannah on the other end told me she couldn't help me. A minute or two into the phone call I get a voicemail from my close relative, saying she needs a ride home tomorrow. I let Hannah know this, and she laughs and says "well that's probably the reason then." I told her I did not appreciate being laughed at, and I need to talk to my sister. She told me I can't. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor now, she's laughing at me and telling me I can't talk to her without a patient ID number, and hangs up on me. I call again and speak to someone named Olga. Olga says that I can leave a message for my relative that they let the patients check throughout the day, but I need to make sure to ask for patient ID number, so I can speak to her directly next time. I call back a third time, and speak to Hannah again. I told her I need to talk to a manager or supervisor. She asked why, and I said "because of the situation I just had with you, Hannah. You can't treat people that way." She transfers me to a voicemail, and I have yet to receive a call back. I just found out my relative is in the hospital, and not only did I get laughed at and hung up on, but I can't get a hold of her. If this is how they treat us, how are they treating my family? read more

The people that work there "except" for a few are very rude when it comes to responding in a timely fashion! I'm disappointed that health professionals care more about clearing a profit than they do about people's feelings or their lives! You have more rights in prison than you do as a mental patient! Believe the reviews. Let them be a cautionary tale to learn from. For anyone who is struggling, this is NOT the place to send them. They will make it worse. My loved one went in voluntarily after a mental health crisis. He was not suicidal at admittance, and we were told VERY CLEARLY he could voluntarily stay for 12 to 24 hours and leave at any time. We, as a family, encouraged him to stay overnight so that we could get our own protocols in place and for him to get some resources and some space. 12 hours later, he was put on an involuntary hold, told he couldn't leave or he would be restrained, and after a 20 min telehealth call, was diagnosed as bipolar by Dr. Sarah Schrauben and told he needed a high-powered drug with a laundry list of side effects, including depression and suicidal ideation. Meanwhile, his roommate had urinated on the floor in the in-room bathroom, and it hadn't been cleaned up for 12 hours, despite being asked multiple times. The food was terrible and his now being involuntarily detained without access to his family or a clean environment did nothing to improve his mental health situation. We strongly suspect something was in the food because he felt lethargic and couldn't even read after he ate. And his stomach hurt after meals. Basic good nutrition should be mandatory for people in a mental health crisis. When he fasted he was clear headed, but they would tell him to eat something if he skipped a meal and then feel lethargic again. We could not bring him outside food, but if he had been a smoker, we could bring him cigarettes. Go figure. They wouldn't let him access the exercise equipment or pick what to watch on the tv. He played solitaire and did a puzzle. Even though we held durable power of attorney the staff refused to give us the reason to hold him or give us access to his medical records saying it was a conflict of interest. They would not release his records to our lawyer or his therapist. We had no way to know what was going on. He could call us but had no advocate at any point along the way to sit and hear conversations or be a part of any discussion of why they were holding him. I brought my personal advocates, called an advocate lawyer, and camped in their lobby for 3 days until they released him. The state DCR manager even told us they were confused about why he was being held as he did not meet their threshold for detainment. I don't know how Rainer Springs is still operating, but they should have their license revoked. The staff will lie to you and play word games till you are so confused you don't know what to believe. Do not let their "I am a nice guy and here to help" attitude fool you. Do not let them transport your loved one anywhere for the most ridiculous reasons (at $1000 an ambulance ride when the hospital is 5 minutes away). Bring your own advocates to help. Read the RCWs. Read the intake carefully. And above all please believe the reviews. They are not lying. There are better facilities available that will actually help and not be medically incompetent. I was trying to get help for mental health. They said they had basically open availability for assessments. I sat in their lobby for over 2 hours past when I was supposed to be assessed. They failed to tell me I would be waiting that long and the receptionist barely said a word to me besides "you should get called back soon sorry about the wait". I started getting a little bit anxious from their lack of communication and went to read some reviews to make sure this was the right place for me. From the outside it looks great. But after extensively reading their reviews (google & yelp) while sitting in the lobby I decided this is not a good place. I hope anyone looking for help with mental health sees this and looks elsewhere. They simply do not actually care and only want your $/$ from your insurance. They didn't even call me to ask why I left until the next morning... If anyone from Rainier Springs reads this I'm totally fine and am getting help from another place that actually cares. I sincerely hope you guys can clean up your act. The reviews I read were horrific and very concerning. :( read more

In late 2022 I participated in two different Rainier Springs outpatient programs --- the Partial Hospitalization Program and also the Intensive Outpatient Program. I cannot speak more highly of the programs. Initially I went in very depressed and thinking nothing would help me. The educational component of the program, while repetitive at times, taught many things to assist one to manage and improve their mental health. I had previously participated in another OP mental health program in Vancouver via Zoom so did not come into the program with no knowledge. The programs at Rainier Springs, with their focus on group therapy, provided an amazing venue for healing and improving one's life. "Students" of the programs were taught many skills to use to improve their mental health, and were offered the assistance of a psychiatric nurse practicitioner daily, if needed, to manage and adjust their medications. The staff was very caring and they worked hard at presenting an excellent and useful program. I would highly recommend this program to others dealing with significant mental health issues. read more

I am a mental health professional writing this after having had a few hit or miss experiences with Rainier Springs where my clients were concerned. However, after today I am absolutely disgusted with how this place is ran and the lack of concern or care with which they treat people that are in clear mental distress. We had a close friend that came to us and was experiencing psychosis and possible undiagnosed schizophrenia. He ended up staying with us but after a night or two of pacing our driveway and home, talking to people or things that were not there, and exhibiting significant fixation on paranoid delusions, we were able to talk with him and gently suggest getting help. We had Adult Mobile Crisis talk with him and come to the house and they referred him to inpatient where they said they had confirmed there was a bed ready for him as long as he could get there by 5:30pm. It was a little after 4 so my husband took him. While there they completed an assessment (I will say that Jerry, the intake assessment staff, was amazing) and told by husband that he definitely need inpatient but through the entire process the front desk staff kept asking my husband not to leave and to stay there but wouldn't give reason as to why. Finally they come out and tell him that there were actually no beds available but to come back at 8:30am the next morning. I will note that it took about 2 months to get our friend to agree to get help in the first place due to the fact that he was experiencing delusions. So we reluctantly agree and have him stay at our home one more night. At 8:30am, my husband arrives there and they tell him they don't have a bed until 10am and to wait in the lobby. Had they been honest about this in the first place we could have let our friend continue to sleep until it was time to go. So now he is becoming extremely distrusting of the facility and asking what's going on. He takes off out of the building and goes into the street. This being a mental health facility, you would think there would be someone to help get him back inside, but not even the receptionist was in the lobby. (At several points people would wander into the lobby asking who to talk to for help and no one came to talk with them so they left after waiting for about 20 minutes.) My husband was able to get him back inside, and 10:00am rolls around. No one comes to notify them of what is going on until 10:30, when they have our friend get his picture taken and then bring him back out to the lobby and say that "the unit isn't ready yet and is being cleaned so you'll have to wait a little longer". Then once again, not one staff is anywhere to be found. So our friend at this point is agitated and asking why they took his picture (what are they going to do with it?) and my husband who is not a trained professional is trying to calm him. Our friend takes off out of the building and ended up crossing the busy intersection up the street, walking through busy traffic and parking lots. After finally agreeing to get back into the car, he says he will never go a place for help again. He got his things from our house and took off walking somewhere. He is in full paranoid psychosis (as confirmed by his assessment) and is now walking around town in distress, having lost all trust in anyone claiming to help him. People wonder why there are homeless individuals with severe mental health issues not wanting to ask for help, why mental health issues are becoming more rampant, and why people can't just "pull themselves up by their bootstraps". This is why. You have someone with voices in their head who is self-harming and threatening to kill themselves to make it stop come for help after having to be convinced for months. Rainier Springs had the chance to prove to this person that help was possible and that he could have a life worth living, and gave no care in the world to how their actions would be perceived by someone in this state of mind. This is fucking disgusting. These are supposed to be people educated in mental health and I'm in shock that this is the treatment our friend received, which is to say no treatment at all except for to respond in ways that feed into his psychosis and paranoia. I will never recommend another client, friend, or family member to this place in my career. This facility should be incredibly ashamed of what happened today. read more

This place is a prison not a mental health facility! My wife voluntarily checked herself into the facility to deal with post traumatic stress and anxiety from a childhood sexual trauma. She was promised a level of care that included daily consultations and group therapy, along with the right to leave at any time with 3 hours notice. Her next 30 hours were nothing but hell. Her intake for sexual trauma began with a strip search in a cold room and not once that day did she receive any treatment. When she asked to leave, they called the county for a suicide assessment and forced her to spend the night and most of the next day, again receiving zero treatment. Despite being post knee surgery, they took away her crutch, ibuprofen and refused even ice, in clear violation of her surgeons post op instructions. When the county assessor finally arrived the next day with an independent MD consult, they could find zero evidence she was a suicide risk and demanded she be released. Naturally the facility took another 3 hours to do so, continuing to withhold any post op prescribed care and only adding to her trauma of assault. The people that work there should be arrested for lying to the county about her condition and falsely imprisoning her. The facility and owner should have their license revoked. read more

I have a friend that's been to Rainier Springs before, and needs to go again unfortunately. If you're wondering how this "facility" is run then just read on, about everybody on here has experienced trouble with these jokers-not being able to reserve a bed/room, not getting called back when promised, clueless people at front desk that are only good at telling you to call back tomorrow (so you can be put on HOLD), etc. It's really bad when there are so few rehab facilities in this area and this is one that has to be considered just because of sheer numbers. read more

Rainier Springs Review (compared to ADAPT Program at Peace Health) I highly recommend seeking treatment somewhere other than Rainer Springs for outpatient services. I cannot speak about their inpatient services but I personally wouldn't never go there for inpatient services either. I took part in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at Rainier Springs and it was sub-par care compared to the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) called ADAPT at the old Peace Health Hospital. Rainier Springs' tagline is "There is hope. There is help." I don't think you're going to get any real hope or meaningful help from Rainier Springs. There's literally nothing life changing about the program I went through even though another one of their taglines or mottos or trademarked phrases is "changing people's lives". I did not find the outpatient program life changing at all. To me, it was a waste of my very depeated time, energy, and resources. Their mission statement is so vague: "Changing people's lives"?! I seriously doubt they have changed anyone's life for the better. I cannot see how their program can help anyone. It's too basic and low-level, bare bones, shoestring. It's so disorganized. It's so unstructured. I would like to hear back from real people who say Rainier Springs helped them live a better life like their website claims. I have my doubts there are anyone willing to sing this places praises. Look at the employee reviews on Indeed, even their workers hate working there and think the care is mediocre or worse. I know one guy who was in their inpatient program and he said the main psychiatrist was a real bitch. He warned me against going there. Before going I confirmed that the main psychiatrist for the inpatient wasn't also involved in outpatient work. She was not. But it didn't matter because the quality of care was so low at this place it didn't matter who was involved the program seems fatally flawed at its core. This place seems great on paper or on their website but it's just a facade. Pretty, sparkly words and pictures that don't truly represent what you get when you go to Rainier Springs. Don't be fooled. You and your loved one deserve better than to be subjected to their dysfunction. Don't let the stock photos on their website fool you. Those happy people are not at Rainier Springs. Those are professional pictures chosen to deceive you. The images on their website that are actually in the Rainier Springs building are misleading. It's not the pristine. It's not that clean. It's not that nice and organized. It's actually pretty dumpy and drab. The doctor's office is so lifeless. They haven't written a blog post in over a year on their website. Their goal isn't to help the community with blog posts. This is just a ruse. Their website says they will "transform the delivery of behavioral health services". There was nothing transformational about their PHP. I didn't see people leaving the program transformed. I didn't see any transformational delivery of any services. Again, this is just a nice things to say about themselves to trick you into going there for services. Apparently, we're supposed to be there at 9am but groups don't start until 9:15am or later. The groups are very loose and unstructured. There's a group check in that often drags on for more than an hour where people are supposed to say what they struggled with over the last 24 hours and what skills they may have used or could have used. There's a lot of wasted time and cross talk and disruptions during this time and most of the time. In the 2nd & 3rd hour we're supposed to be focused on daily topic but those can often get off track. Then there's lunch at noon. After lunch there's usually an "alternative hour" where they bring someone in to do some kind of music, yoga, chi jung, etc. The last (5th) hour is back to the topic. It was mostly useless to me. I never really got much out of these "groups" or topics because they were so loose and unstructured. The groups often got off topic and there wasn't a lot of in depth work. It stayed pretty surface level. There were some activities and discussions but it was all just not enough. A lot of it I had learned previously. Topics include: Strengthens & Challenges Self Esteem Grief Cognitive Distortion Assertiveness Anger Guilt & Shame PTSD For the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), their website lists "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" as a modality. I can tell you that they never did a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy modality while I was there. The topic was mentioned here or there but we never did any "modality" on CBT. One reason why I chose to go there was because I was hoping to learn and practice CBT more. TLDR: Find a better place to treat your mental health issues, like the ADAPT Program through Peace Health. If you care at all about your loved ones, do not let them go here. They do not give meds as prescribed, constantly threaten "involuntary commitment", and threaten to tell employers medical information without approval. They do not like family involved and will make snide remarks if they are. There is absolutely nothing for patients to do in their free time except look at blank walls. There is a tv in the common area, but it does not work. This place needs to be shut down. They do not care about the patients at all; it appears to be about the almighty dollar and how long they can keep patients there whether they need to be or not. read more

I have been battling suicide and have been in and out of the hospital, ER and churches. This place is so new to me. I never knew a safe place existed to where they help people battling suicide and this was quite the experience for me. I am finally better and back into civilization with better coping skills and am very grateful for the care that was given to me. I support this place from the very bottom of my heart. Arrived VOLUNTARILY and came onto the Meadows area after a strip search and skin check including inspection of my depends undergarment. (Complex PTSD patient with hx of Sexual trauma) . My (shared) room came freshly stocked with shit and blood all over and a "PCA" standing guard in the room 24-7 dedicated to my roommate. Since only two "PCA" people were allowed in "meadows", which is considered the good side, only one was available to help the other 20 odd or so patients. In fact, staff won't even make eye contact and a polite "Excuse me" is ignored. The nurses doctors and staff were VERY VERY BUSY pushing paperwork around. *read heavily understaffed and heavily overburdened with paperwork.* Environmental Services was not available. Unable to get the bathroom cleaned since no one was available and "patients can't have chemicals", I had no choice but to sit in shit after wiping off as much as I could by using shampoo as cleaner. I then got into the shower to finish cleaning up only to find snot and blood and Band-Aids all over the place. (walls people, shit and bloody snot on the walls). This is 12/2020 during the height of the pandemic. On day 3 they finally cleaned the room. I would hold it until I could use the one at the cafeteria at meals. On day one there was a patient throwing chairs etc at other patients, staff screaming and making snide comments, patients bullying other patients. Not a tranquil place at all. By evening one of the guys was bragging about the number of kids he had by different women, asking me if I'd shit my "diapers" (yea, not a hippa worthy place) and bringing a girl to his room early in the evening and sneaking into women's rooms at night. Saw a girl jump the nurses station fall on her butt and start to jump the opposite side in an effort to kill another patient. No med plan, no meeting with a doc for more than 3 to 5 minutes and met with much disdain at that, meds not administered until day 3. ***They are counting on the fact that you are known to be crazy and they can hold it against you. Sweet as punch in the front to talk you into a voluntary stay but the only person I spent more than 10 minutes with was the person wanting my credit card number.*** I had to request the County to come in before Rainer Springs would let me leave. (It got so bad that a staff member actually slipped me my phone so I could call my therapist even though they new doing so could get them fired.) Remember, I was there voluntarily for problems I was having during a med change over. (Not for drugs or addiction.) No patient rights book was provided, I wasn't able to review my chart on request, I was not able to meet with the in patient advocate. Definitely speaking with an attorney about unlawful detainment but please do read the State Regulations (WAC 246-330-125) before even thinking of approaching this place. I asked to leave about 12 different times. I finally wrote out a note and put it on the desk. Three hours later I asked the nurse to copy the note with the time on it, told her that she might want to look at it and that I was aware they were required to decide and release after 4 hours. She took a peak at the note that said I would be leaving and laughed and said "you are?" when she read it. I asked for the in patient advocate, asked what type of hold I was on (I think I have to determine that by law to keep you past 3-4 hours or something) and then asked her to call the advocate at which point she found the form that I now had to fill out. Shortly after a huge team of people came in trying to get an intake folder together, (they couldn't find the patients rights pamphlet by the way, said it was in revision and unavailable). I asked what time I would expect my release and was told my nurse (who I'd never been introduced to, was working with several people in the med room reviewing my chart. All the charts that were lying around were suddenly getting organized. If you are looking for an unsanitary place to watch bitter employees snipe at patients with rude unfeeling souls slowly dying with the occasional sexual harassments of other patients, unchecked threats and objects flying and people sneaking into your room at night; You might consider this place. If you want a med changeover to be completely dropped half way throu and be off ALL your meds for three days or you like popcorn and don't mind watching a patient wrestling match with a man on one side of you commenting on your boobs, the one across from you sitting with his pubic hair out of his zipper hole and one yelling about how he's shitting out heroine in the next room where doors aren't allowed to be closed you have chosen well. I wouldn't send a dog with rabbies here. Some of the staff are trying but this is an insurance mill pure and simple. read more

One of my best friends who is basically my sister, she went to a family member and they helped emit her into inpatient care and then would be moved to outpatient care. They discharged her about a little over a week of inpatient care only to discharge her about twenty times worse of a state than when she was emitted. They even lied on her discharge paperwork saying that she was free of all symptom disorders. If you really love your loved one, don't send them to this place. read more

I don't know what these guys are writing about but i can see all of them spoke not from first hand account. I stayed there exactly 5days for Detox off some heavy pharmaceutical pain relieving drugs prescribed by a Doctor. I wouldn't have made it thru the detox if it wasnt for the lovely staff that worked at the sunrise unit and was extremely overtaken by the empathy and the understanding true care that i experienced by PA. Audrey Cavins-Gzell ( I'm sorry if i butchered it) She truly cares and i saw that if one doctor cared that was good enough for me to give it such a rating, I know the RNs were all great, All helpful and fun.. I also know that the PCAs especially Ken was extremely knowledgable pleasant and showed me there are still people that have everlasting HOPE, LOVE and FAITH in humanity at its darkest hour. I Know what they do isn't fun and seeing first hand how rough it is out there especially with the CoronaVirus seeing them on the front line and dealing with people addicted to drugs and completely mentally unstable. With the attitude thats friendly, easy to talk too and genuine makes it that more amazing of a place. Ive been 1month clean and counting due to the program they administer. And extremely happy and would recommend to anyone whos truly ready not because the court says you have too or your family/friends but You YOURSELF R READY read more
