About 10 minutes walk to the Christmas Market and add 5 minutes to get to the Harbor. Check-in was quick and seamless. They asked if I wanted to have the room cleaned daily-nice so you don't have to deal with hanging signs on the door. I got my request for a room on the top floor-yes! My King room had a partial city view and was facing an office building. Room came with a Safe (with a built in Outlet for devices -which I haven't seen), mini fridge and iron. Woodwork for the Headboard and on the ceiling made for a different and unique look. Outlets were plenty with USB ports. Breakfast was available for 14 Euros and they have a restaurant (Bistro Vilholn) attached. Had dinner one of the evenings and would recommend. Sauna (separated for M/F) was a good size although the Gym was a small one. There is the option to go to a much larger Fitness Center close by. Taxis arrived minutes after being called. I saw a Piano in the back seating area and lounge. Would highly recommend for Staff that provided exceptional service, location, restaurant and amenities.

The reason for the high praise is because the breakfast is by far the number 1 I've seen here. Just massive spread of anything you could want. Fresh juice right when you walk in. Was honestly blown away comparing it to the other hotels in the city that I thought were already quite good. The staff is friendly and it's in a great location. Would definitely recommend here or the Radisson Red close by, which has much more updated rooms, but not as nice of a breakfast.

(If you want to find out how to say "Where can I get a fur hat?" in Finnish, you may just have found a reason to stay here yourself! After having stayed at various other hotels in Helsinki, (various Glos, Klaus K), Hotel Fabian is my favorite so far: it's cozy and I felt right at home. The room was relatively big and had everything I wanted (even the tea kettle that Mathias H referred to as missing in his previous review). I even appreciated the blackout curtains, as the sun does set quite late in the Helsinki summer month and rises again awfully early (they really should do something about this ;-) The breakfast is included in the rate and while it doesn't contain hot items such as scrambled eggs, it is perfectly tasty and there's plenty of other things that gave me energy for the day. The staff at the hotel was friendly, but contained in the (typical) Finnish way. + free wifi + free breakfast

It is on a quiet side street that allowed for perfect nights sleep. The buffet breakfast was included in my booking and it was absolutely fabulous! Nothing in America compares. Be sure to have the artichoke cream soup in the attached restaurant - most delicious cream soup I've ever had!! Most the milk products in the restaurant are lactose free, as is most the country! All the staff if kind and helpful. The rooms are beautiful. The lobby/ bar area offers a nice view and great place to relax. Right around the corner is a grocery store - perfect for fruit, chocolate or cookie snacks!! I will be back to Lilla Roberts with my family to visit amazing Finland!

I booked my stay on American Express' travel site. The property is listed as as "The Hotel…read moreCollection" which offers benefits, such as, free room upgrade and a $100 credit for certain purchases including food & beverage. Upon check in, while the room upgrade benefit was available, the employee told me the $100 credit converter to €88. Earlier that day, I had made several purchases on my Amex card. Those purchases appeared on their mobile app to $100 to approximately €95. When I contacted Amex's Twitter team, they referred me to https://www.onanda.com which converted $100 to appropriately €94.7 for that date. If international hotels can choose their own exchange rate, bad operators could reduce the $100 hotel credit to an unusable amount. For instance, the daily breakfast is €25. If I had stayed four nights and ate breakfast daily, my out-of-pocket cost could have been €12 rather than the expected €5. The upgraded room itself seemed okay; two twin beds were merged into one. Although the shower area was separated with a partial divider; the water can drain to the bottom of the sink. The shower consists of a fixed shower head and a handheld one. There is also a handheld bidet by the toilet. For toiletries, individual bottles for conditioner and body lotion were provided and replaced daily, if used. Containers hung on the wall for shampoo and shower gel. I could have bought my own products at the supermarket across the street. Although the lift is on a raised floor; there is a ramp so I did not have to carry my suitcases up the steps. Even though the room is on the third floor; the hotel does not have a second floor. Except for the two times I had my suitcases, I never once needed to use lift. It would have taken longer to wait for it than to climb up one floor. On my final night, the hotel emailed the prospective bill. Because the stay was prepaid, I was surprised to see a charge for one night. Since I had international data roaming, I verified the prepayment on my credit card weeks prior. When I returned to the hotel after dinner, I verified the incorrect charge was still on the bill. I asked about the irregular charge. The employee stated their system had incorrectly categorized one of the nights as postpay rather than prepay. She said it would have been corrected, but I informed her that I had expected the hotel to have made the correction without my intervention.
