I flew on Icelandair from Keflavic, Iceland to Helsinki. I'd also flown on Iceland's major competitor, and found that Icelandair does a much better job of getting people to/from Iceland than anyone else.
The flight attendants aren't too pleasant. They seem cold and efficient. They don't really smile when they come by, just a sort of distrustful, distant stare as they offer skyr or chips for a few thousand Krona.
I liked that the planes were clean, despite delays. Our flight was delayed for several hours in Reykjavik due to high winds, but that wasn't the fault of the airline. The seats were comfortable, and there was an average amount of legroom- nothing special.
I was happy to see that they offer a wide selection of entertainment, including documentaries about Iceland, and even a few Icelandic movies! They had short clips that brief you on Icelandic culture, and the in-flight safety announcement is even Icelandic themed. Ja!
I arrived safely at my destination, with all my bags, so that's always a plus when it comes to airlines. I'd certainly recommend this airline over the competitors.
You get charged for your first bag checked, only up to 45 lbs., which is five pounds lower than a lot of international airlines' policies. They threaten to measure and weigh your carry-on luggage, but fortunately, they didn't check that out. read more
