We…read moreloved staying at this 3-bedroom house for our Girlfriend Getaway, and we definitely plan to be back. The owner, Tammy, was speedy-quick responsive and helpful. She provided thoughtful touches like snacks and drinks and even a Covid test kit! The decor is retro-80s, but the house is in great condition, and the important things are new: beds, fridge, stove, linens and towels, etc. It was a 4-minute drive to downtown Geneva and Lake Seneca. There are parking spaces for two cars, and Tammy has surrounded the house with happy yellow flowers. It is near the train tracks, but they only seem to run during the day--we slept well every night I had originally booked this so my family could stay with me for the Musselman Half Ironman--it sleeps at least 5 and has plenty of room for my bike and gear downstairs. But I got injured while training and broke a few ribs, so it landed up being a girlfriend weekend. This home was so comfortable and convenient and clean--we can't wait to be back!

Friday night arrival, we were greeted and shown around Greenwoods by our warm and welcoming hosts, Rick and Leroy. The natural wood paneled great room awaited us with a toasty fire and home made chocolate chip cookies. Nice touch. We were introduced to our fellow guests (Stephen and Jim, a friendly couple from Toronto), sat down by the fire and had a lovely evening getting to know them. My room, the Comstock, was quiet, spacious and immaculately clean with a gorgeous view to Lake Honeoye. It had a well-appointed bathroom that contained everything I needed--including a retractable cord blow dryer, which I had forgotten. I have back and neck issues and was concerned about the mattress, but it was nicely firm, and I slept well (side note: the sheets smelled really good). The next morning, I woke to the smell of fresh brewed coffee, which I drank in the great room while checking my email (fast Wi-Fi) and awaiting breakfast. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, but enjoyed the dark blend. Breakfast began with the most amazing poached pear with a raspberry sauce in creamy yogurt. Not usually a pear fan, I left nothing but the stem and would have licked the plate if I'd been alone : o Main course was OMG!-stuffed French toast with blueberry compote and a really tasty vegetarian sausage (I had let our hosts know my preferences beforehand). I probably could have done with half my portion of the French toast, but ate it anyway, which held me through the afternoon. Fortified, my girlfriend Pam and I took off to explore the nearby town Canandaigua, which offered a nice variety of reasonable shops and cute restaurants (alas, we were still full). Then, we headed over to Victor for our facials at Relax the Spa, followed up by a farm-to-table dinner at Roots Restaurant in nearby Naples. It was a great choice and offered vegetarian selections. Rick and Leroy pulled out all the stops Sunday morning for breakfast. First course: a colorful and healthy fruit salad NOT containing Honeydew melon (which I consider the black jellybean of fruit). Then, delicious eggs Florentine and cheesy hash browns so good I could have rubbed them all over my skin (kidding, not kidding), and, a side of those yummy sausages. We lingered in the dining hall talking to newer arrivals, Tom and Rob, as Leroy kept the coffee flowing, then moved our conversation to the great room and another roaring fire. I travel frequently and use hotels B&Bs, Inns, and airbnbs, so have pretty high standards for hospitality. Rick and Leroy exceeded my expectations, and then some. Not only are they friendly and attentive, they are perfectionists who are dedicated to their guests having a top-notch, relaxing, unforgettable stay--and it was. As a matter of fact, I've already been in contact with my siblings to suggest Greenwoods for our next family reunion. Yes, it's that good.

The owner does a very good job of keeping it up. When I went to check in, nobody was at the office, but there was a phone number listed. I called, and unfortunately, the man that ran, the place was taking care of some personal business. All of the rooms are on a combination door lock so he gave me the combination, and told me we would just take care of the paperwork in the morning. I went over to check in in the morning, and my first night was so good, I decided to stay for another three nights. My first night was booked through hotels.com, but the owner told me that I could book with him directly for the remaining three nights, and he would give me a discount. It saved me some dollars. I appreciate it. He was friendly, and helpful. Again, nothing fancy on the room. The room and the bathroom were spotless The TV got a good picture with cable, there was a coffee pot, a fridge, and a microwave, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of room, and I'm a big guy. The only thing is, there is no shower mat, so you have to be careful. There were plenty of towels.. The Wi-Fi worked great, with enough speed to easily stream video one evening the Wi-Fi did go down, I contacted the gentleman, and he said he would take care of it. He actually came over to my room, to let me know had been fixed, when he could've just called or texted me. That was excellent service. The price was very reasonable, compared to some of the other places in town. Again, you're not getting anything fancy, you are getting a very simple comfortable place. Watkins Glen is right in the middle of the finger Lakes region. There are plenty things to do, lots of good shopping, and great restaurants. This is the perfect place to launch A visit to the finger lakes. I'm a fan. I would easily stay here again. Thanks.

The wood at the camp store was actually dry! Several peaceful trails to walk within the campground. Beautiful scenery! We will return for those short weekend camping trips. On a side note, this campground is on a hill. My family was on site 45 and we needed about 5 inches of boards and leveling blocks on one side to level the camper. We stayed the first weekend of October. There is a pool but it was not open for obvious reasons. Also, no planned activities if you are looking for a campground that entertains the kids. They did hand out animal figurines at check in for the kids to hunt for around the campground. Once, they counted the amount of times their animal was discovered, they reported the number to the camp store when returning their figurine for a potential prize.
