The bed was comfortable and the pillows are plentiful. The location cannot be beat. We had dinner and drinks at the Blue Pointe Grille the night we arrived. I was a little hesitant to eat at the hotel restaurant. I was bracing to be disappointed. Service was on point and cocktails were well made. Food was delicious. We had a high top in the bar right near a window for a nice view of the lake. Highly recommend.

It's rare that I'm dazzled by a hotel or feel that it's worth the money (they're all stupid…read moreexpensive these days), but Harbor Hotel was a wonderful experience I'd recommend to anyone. Don't get me wrong, it's expensive. But for once I felt like I'd gotten my money's worth! Everything everywhere was meticulously clean and well-kept. Our room was spacious and bright, with a private balcony and chairs, a couch and coffee table, and a full table that allowed us to take comfortable advantage of the room service breakfast. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

Admiral Peabody's Lakeside Lodging - My husband and I enjoyed a sample of a local wine on the private dock! Our pup liked watching the fish jump:)

I brought my wife and kids here for the 4th of July weekend to visit some family I had in the area…read more One of my uncles and his family had stayed here previously and recommended it to us. I am really glad they did. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with my parents. There was plenty of room for all of us. There were plenty of blankets and towels, and the full-sized kitchen gave the place a nice home-like feel. There were even chilled glasses in the freezer for our drinks! The view from the patio is amazing. We enjoyed some time just sitting outside watching boats sail around the lake. For the July 4th fireworks, we sat on the deck (which is exclusive for guests) right on the water. We could not have asked for a better view. As much as we liked the atmosphere of the room, we liked the owners even better. We interacted mostly with Olga, who was so sweet and accommodating. Anything we needed was provided. She treated us to a fresh watermelon, and even allowed my wife (who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan) to take a Bills glass that was in the freezer home. I cannot say enough good things about Admiral Peabody's. It is definitely a place at which I would stay over and over again.

The best place to stay in Watkins Glen on the lake? Admiral Peabody's 100%. My husband and I found…read morethis place last week by accident through a recommendation from a concierge at another hotel. We needed to find last-minute accommodations that would allow our dog and also didn't cost $500 a night after our van broke down unexpectedly. Admiral Peabody's was an affordable, clean and dog friendly hotel in Watkins Glen that we totally lucked into because it didn't even come up on our searches! This place totally exceeded our expectations. Admiral Peabody's doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like your own lakeside cottage. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. We were able to sneak a look at the one bedroom bungalow cottages which were also adorable! Our suite was roomy, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was also really nice sitting on the deck right outside of our room. PLUS, Admiral Peabody's has a private dock right on the lake with tables, chairs and a blue tooth music system. I'm not sure how old this yelp listing is but the owner now is Luke. HE IS THE BEST. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Watkins Glen, don't pass up this hidden gem.

BEWARE, THEY HAVE BEDBUGS!!!…read more I want to start off by saying we were SO excited for our stay at the Colonial Inn. We arrived 2 hours early, and the owner, Phil, allowed us to check in early.  We dropped our things in room #6 (in the building in the back) and set off to explore the town. After dinner, we headed back to get some ice cream from the creamery, which was pretty good. We headed back to our room to unwind, and when we got into bed, we noticed quite a few red/brown bugs. Immediately suspecting bed bugs, we called the contact phone number and reported the problem. Phil answered and said he'd be over immediately to inspect. After 10 long minutes, he finally arrived and declared these bugs were "fuzz" and "tree bark bugs." After some googling, we were confident they were bed bugs, and when we tried to show/explain, he became very aggressive and rude. Feeling attacked and speechless, we left the room to let him and his staff change the sheets and vaccum. Once they finished and left, we went back and examined the bed. The mattress seemed ok, but when we got down to the underside and box spring, you could see CLUSTERS of bed bugs and dark spots alike. We packed our stuff, got in the car, and went in search of another hotel. We will never get over the owner's rude, dismissive, and aggressive attitude. This could have been handled completely differently, and we could have had a great stay, but unfortunately, that's not the way things happened.
