So happy to have a decent chippy two minutes from my flat! This place is super cheap but great…read morequality. A mini fish and chips and can of pop is £3.39. They almost always cook the fish fresh so it is hot with crispy batter. You have to wait around five minutes but I'd rather wait and have good quality than quickly have bad quality! Pizzas, chicken, pie etc are also available but I haven't tried them. The staff are really friendly and efficient. The prices are cheap. The food is good. Go and get some fish and chips!

Staying close to this fish place. I think it just opened this year and I couldn't find a review…read morefor it on Yelp. I decided to walk over and try for lunch. Found out when I got there it is take away only. I got the mini combination. A piece of cod, fries and can of Coke for only 3 GBP. Great value! The fries were average but the fish was actually the best I have had while in the UK this trip. I have tried it in several places and been disappointed. I personally don't like the skin left on one side which many places did. It can sometimes leave a fishy taste I think. There was no skin at Masons...the batter was very light and crispy and the fish was cooked just right. A+ Masons! The fries may have tasted better if I had eaten there....after carrying home they were not hot and that makes a huge difference with fries for me. They weren't bad...just not special in any way. He said the fries were a small order but it was a very big order for me....could have shared for sure. The fish was a nice size as well. I would go back....and probably will before I leave.

The Cranmore Fish Bar is by far the top of my list, the best most enjoyable fish and chips I have ever tasted and the quality rarely varies from excellent. I have been popping in here now for many years and I can only say the quality has improved with the passing of years. The young man who fries the fish here is a virtuoso master of the art, his batter is light and delicious and enhances the flavour of the fish rather than drown it as can so often be the case. But the secret is not just in the frying, the fish itself is always thick cut, succulent and meaty. What nails it as the perfect chippy is that it qualifies as an ideal "just off" in that I mean it is a great alternative to the Motorway services. Being just off Junction 4 of the M42 and close by a Tesco petrol station it is the wallet healthy alternative to the overpriced motorway services. I recommend the small fish and chips deal as the ideal meal, the large fish is very large indeed. Try it and let me know if you know better.

I am a big fan of a local chippy and this one has everything you could want. Friendly and welcoming v ibe, fresh and tasty food and most importantly of all....good saveloys.....really good actually! Recently voted best chippy in Brum by Biringham mail this ones worth a little treck even if you live a small drive away. The only thing I would say is check the opening hours. Unlike places in the CC places in the subburbs seem to open when they like! So strange! Good job they are busy when they do decide to open!

The portions of…read morefood are also great value for money and I've never been let down with the taste or price. I also find this place highly entertaining, as Pete's number of staff seems to grow and grow each time I go in. The staff fight amongst themselves for your service and all share a role in preparing your grub, from dishing out the chips, to dishing out the fish, to pouring salt and vinegar on, to wrapping up the food to collecting your money. Surely one staff member could do all that themselves? Although I'm not complaining, as I find the whole process highly entertaining while I'm waiting for my own fish & chips to be cooked. Especially when they begin to bicker in pantomime style. I'm not sure which one is Pete though, as the staff tend to be all female.......
