I'm originally from Ireland and grew up with the best fish and chips in the world. Moving to London was then heartbreaking as the only chipper in the area was just awful. Tried it twice, both times the overpriced greasy tasteless mess ended up in the bin. The the move to Solihull, just up the road from Dovehouse, gave us great fish and chips again. Always amazing, HUGE portions and very reasonably priced. During the pandemic they set up an online ordering system that was flawless. My only wish is they would start accepting card/contactless payments like the rest of the world. read more

Plain and simple- good old fish and chips place. I walked from the town of Solihull (30min). U can also take a bus (#37). It was worth it. Not to insult the British but its simply hard to find a good quality fish n' chips place in UK. You usually get an oil dripping fish and saggy, flat fries at such places. Here the fish is really good (choice of haddock, cod, etc) and the fries are actually crispy! Clean place and super friendly staff. I will def come back again in the near future (small tip: eat it on the spot unless u plan on unpacking it later within minutes, otherwise those fries wont be as crispy) read more

This is probably the best Fish and Chip shop in Solihull, it's £.2.85 for a mini fish and chips and damm its nice! I think its greek owned. There is always parking where they are located. highly recommended! read more

As an international traveler from the U.S proper fish and chips is something I seek out whenever I visit the UK. The Doverhouse Fish bar ranks right up with the very best I've come across. I ordered the Cod and battered mushrooms. The fish filet was very fresh and was somewhat of a large portion. The mushrooms are also a favorite. They where good sized and cooked perfectly. The meal came served on a huge bed of chips that was well wrapped in butcher's paper. The taste and texture of the fish was spot on! it had large flakes, was not greasy and seemed to be very very fresh. I like my fish salted and with tartar sauce. I would've loved if they also offered a home made tartar sauce instead of the pre-pacakged. looking forward to my next visit. Great job guys! read more

Best fish and chips in town! Just don't go there on Friday night unless you love standing in long lines :)

The food is really amazing here, the problem is the owner insists on the chips being fresh, so when there are more than 25 people in the queue on a Friday night, any normal owner would put plenty of chips in, but no here, they run out of chips every 5 minutes, and then the staff stand there doing nothing but talking like they are not aware the queue is outside the door. Avoid Fridays unless you don't mind waiting 45 minutes in the queue, with the door open and the staff not bothered about you queuing. But I will say food is excellent, just service is shockingly terrible. read more

A great place to get Fish & Chips from. Popular place but despite sometimes waiting in a queue you're served quick and politely.

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience in this Fish Bar when I popped in on a friday lunchtime. With a long line of customers the chap decided to serve someone who came in before everyone else who had been waiting.This customer had a huge order written on a piece of paper. When i finally got served (25 minute wait for just a portion of chips!) i commented (there was no apology for the wait) that the chap they'd spent so long serving had come in after the rest of us, and got a tirade of abuse from the server, who said 'you can wait a bit longer i'm not serving you'. I was shocked - i'm not a rude person, and my husband and I live just around the corner so had used the shop several times in the past. Disappointing as the quality of the fish and chips is usually very good - but we won't be going in again and will advise friends not to do so either. read more
